Chapter 74 Feeding from Gabriel

After waking up, Jessica was bored due to her limited mobility.

After putting on the cervical collar again, she sat on the bed in the children's room and was about to call Danielle in, but she heard the sound of cartoons outside and decided not to call her.

A message notification came from her cellphone. Mackenzie created a group chat with Harrison and Jessica.

Harrison: [Luckily, it's not a fracture. Otherwise, it would be difficult for me to type on my cellphone. Is Jessica awake yet?]

Harrison: [Yesterday, Jessica didn't look well on set. She went to the restroom a few times. Is she on her period? She's probably feeling worse now. I'll ask my classmate to make some hot soup for her. The river water was so cold yesterday, I hope she doesn't get sick.]

Mackenzie: [She has been pulling all-nighters for the past few days. I guess she hasn't woken up yet. I'll ask her once she's awake.]

Jessica looked down at her cellphone, unable to move her neck due to the device around it. She stiffly read the messages on her cellphone, using one hand to hold it and the other to tap the screen for a while. [No need to send me off, I'm fine. Harrison, take good care of yourself. How is your arm injury?]

Her stomach continued to ache, but she reassured herself that her hand was fine. However, as soon as she finished replying, the pain in her stomach made her bite her lip, causing her whole body to curl up in pain.

Unfortunately, due to the neck brace she was wearing, she couldn't curl up and could only maintain a sitting position, which was already quite uncomfortable for her.

Harrison saw that Jessica had replied to his message and quickly sent a voice message back, "I dislocated my wrist and pulled muscles in my shoulder and neck. I'll be fine after a few days of rest. Once you're back on set, I'll still be able to take care of you energetically! Don't worry about me!"

Jessica smiled at her cellphone, but as soon as she finished smiling, a slight pain in her stomach made her break out in a cold sweat.

Perhaps she had caught a cold from being in the river yesterday.

She closed her eyes, put down her cellphone, and sat quietly in the room, holding her stomach. When she felt miserable and didn't know what to do, the smell of a delicious aroma suddenly wafted in.

Jessica sniffed and sniffed again with all her might.

It was the aroma of grilled pork ribs.

She had been asleep in the morning, and her neck was too painful to get up and eat breakfast. Now, she was genuinely hungry, and the growling sound of hunger accompanied the pain in her stomach.

It was a pitiful sight.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, she sighed, feeling very dejected.

She didn't want to admit that the man she had rescued a month ago was now taking care of her. But she couldn't resist the temptation of the aroma of the grilled pork ribs, so she got up and slowly walked out.

Just as she reached the entrance of the children's room, Danielle rushed in as if she sensed her mommy's movements. Seeing her mommy about to come out, she quickly reached out her soft little hand to support her. "Mommy, take it slow, I'll help you," she said.

Jessica asked her in a low voice, "Is Uncle Spencer inside?" as she pointed towards the kitchen.

"Yes!" Danielle led Jessica to the sofa and handed her the remote control considerately, wanting to give the television to her bored mommy, who had nothing to do.

Then Danielle happily ran towards the kitchen to help Uncle Spencer, even though she didn't know what she was going to do, she just wanted to help.

Jessica held the remote control and had no intention of watching TV, but inexplicably switched to Xyleria Financial and Economic News Channel.

The TV was showing a certain company's collaboration on a particular project, but there hasn't been any news about the Harriman Group lately.

"Great!" Danielle exclaimed incoherently from the kitchen, "So delicious."

The aroma of the grilled pork ribs had already spread, indicating that Danielle had taken a piece while she was in there.

Jessica touched her sore and hungry stomach, feeling helpless as she waited for Danielle and Spencer to feed her.

It wasn't until she finally took the first bite of spare ribs that Jessica resisted the urge to express her admiration. She looked at Spencer with a probing gaze and then awkwardly turned her neck to look at Danielle. "Was the steak you had last night also this delicious?"

Jessica had been tired and sleepy last night, sleeping from evening to noon today. She hadn't even had a taste of the steak from last night, which this little glutton, Danielle, had probably eaten.

"It's delicious, especially delicious. It's better than the steak Mommy took me to have at the children's restaurant, no, it's many times better!" Danielle exaggeratedly raised her hand while speaking, her arm wide open, illustrating the so-called "many times better."

Jessica slowly shifted her gaze back to Spencer, feeling that no matter how she looked at him, this cold and clean-cut man didn't seem like someone who could cook. It was hard to imagine that a few pieces of spare ribs could be turned into a plate of delicious grilled pork ribs with great color, aroma, and taste in his hands, just as Danielle described. It truly was very delicious. Jessica, who thought she was good at cooking, couldn't help but take another piece and put it in her mouth.

How many surprises were still hidden in this man she had brought home a month ago?

Knowing that she was really hungry, Gabriel casually asked, "Can you handle it?"

‘I won't have any problems eating this, after all, it's so delicious!’

Jessica, who was being cared for by someone for a change, felt grateful in her heart and was about to nod and praise, but her head suddenly hurt when she tried to do so. She quickly raised her hand to cover her neck, her face filled with pain.

Gabriel caught sight of her painful expression and subtly frowned. "Eat quietly, don't move around."

It took Jessica half a minute to recover a little. She managed to hold back the tears forced out by the pain and picked up her chopsticks again, picking up a small piece of spare ribs and putting it in her mouth.

So delicious!

The feeling of pain just now seemed to disappear in an instant.

Having grown accustomed to living independently and raising her child, Jessica couldn't remember how long it had been since someone had taken care of her.

She felt like she could eat a whole plate of these spare ribs.

As Jessica chewed on the ribs, she couldn't help but exclaim in her mind, almost in the same voice as Danielle, "They're so delicious, so good!"

Meanwhile, at Xyleria, the Harriman family mansion.

Upon hearing about the things that Simon had caused in the company, Michael Harriman couldn't even eat his meal out of anger.

Nicholas quickly scooped a spoonful of lotus soup for his grandfather, trying to calm him down.

"I wonder how my brother is doing outside," Nicholas said as he served his grandfather some dishes, attempting to divert his attention. "Instead of getting angry with those people at the company, you should worry about my brother."
