Chapter 458 Are You My Dad's Son
"That's enough, thanks, Mom," Jessica quickly said and then turned to Benjamin. "Thanks, Dad."
Brooklyn and Benjamin exchanged a look and reluctantly nodded.
Everyone there was sharp, whether they were just watching or part of the main event. No matter their initial intentions, they all chose the best way to handle things.
Only Kimberly's fingers were turning white as she clutched her bag.
She couldn't say a word. When her parents had to make a choice, she looked a bit lost at Gabriel.
Gabriel's eyes, usually cold, now radiated a warmth for Jessica that Kimberly had never seen, revealing he wasn't an unreachable deity but capable of warmth as well.
Brooklyn looked down at Danielle again and couldn't resist stroking her soft hair, which instinctively softened her heart.
Even if it was their first meeting, the magical power of blood ties was undeniable.
"What kind of gift does Danielle like? There are lots of things in the suitcase we brought back. Later, you can go to the room with me and pick something out, okay?" Brooklyn's eyes softened as she smiled at the clever Danielle.
Danielle looked up at Jessica and Gabriel and asked in a small voice, "Mom and Dad, can I go with Grandpa and Grandma?"
Jessica looked down and said, "Of course, but wait until the family dinner is over. Let Grandpa and Grandma go to their room to rest and organize first, and then you can go later."
Danielle then looked at Gabriel and when she saw his slight nod, she turned back with a big smile and said, "Grandma, I'll listen to Mom and Dad and go a bit later!"
"How old is this child and she's already so obedient? Danielle, you don't have to be so formal with Grandma." Brooklyn touched Danielle's little face again, liking her more, almost unable to resist the urge to hug and kiss her.
Danielle's eyes suddenly turned towards Kimberly and she shrank back, hiding between Gabriel and Jessica, not stepping forward to let Brooklyn hug her.
Brooklyn noticed Danielle's change in mood and abruptly turned her gaze to Kimberly, who was struggling to maintain a calm expression but was on the verge of losing it. After a two-second pause, Brooklyn stood up and said, "Alright, let's go back to the room first. We'll come back as soon as possible. We can't ignore all the friends and family here."
She turned and walked back to Kimberly, giving her a look. Kimberly, with red eyes, turned her face away without saying a word and quietly followed Brooklyn out of the main hall.
Benjamin looked at the adorable Danielle again and after a moment, exchanged a glance with Gabriel before turning and leaving.
From their exchanged glances, Benjamin could discern Gabriel's unwavering determination to Jessica. The outcome of this silent battle had been decided long before they returned from abroad, especially with Michael and Seraphina supporting Jessica.
As they went to their rooms to rest, Seraphina took the opportunity to come over to Jessica and whispered, "Take it. It belongs to you now. If she hadn't given it to you, I would have urged her to."
Jessica had thought Brooklyn gave her the bracelet out of necessity and planned to return it later.
She didn't expect Seraphina to read her mind.
"But it's really too valuable," Jessica said, genuinely. The envious looks around her confirmed the bracelet was extraordinary.
"Not really, just over twenty million dollars. Gabriel could buy a hundred of them," Seraphina said, taking Danielle away.
Seraphina couldn't help but marvel, 'Rich people can be so over-the-top.'
Seeing Danielle being taken away, Jessica realized Seraphina's real intention was to take Danielle with her.
Sure enough, Michael, seeing Danielle with Seraphina, quickly tried to get her back. They had no intention of ceasing their struggle over Danielle.
"Wow, it's lively here!" Nicholas had just entered the front yard and saw Danielle with Michael and Seraphina from a distance.
Danielle, confused by Michael and Seraphina's quiet bickering, widened her eyes and looked at them. Hearing a voice ahead, she instinctively turned to look, still wide-eyed.
Nicholas walked over, not even bothering to greet Gabriel, and stood in front of Danielle, looking down at her with raised eyebrows.
"Why are you so late?" Michael glanced at him disapprovingly.
"Busy, of course. One Harriman Entertainment isn't enough. You've been piling work on me for the past two years. It's a miracle I made it back. I wasn't even in Xyleria this afternoon. I took a detour on the highway to get here," Nicholas said, then looked at Seraphina. "Are you planning to stay here for good?"
Seraphina rolled her eyes. "Who said I'm staying? Once things are settled here, I'm taking Danielle with me."
Michael was immediately displeased. "You're taking Danielle? Just try it!"
The two elders started arguing as soon as they got close. Nicholas, used to their bickering, looked down at Danielle.
Danielle looked up at the tall man in front of her, widening her eyes even more. "Wow!"
Nicholas chuckled, "Little one, what are you 'wowing' about?"
"You're as tall as my dad!" Danielle said, straining her neck to look up at him.
Nicholas squatted down to be at eye level with Danielle and looked at her for a moment, "Little one, do you know who I am?"
Danielle stared at him and suddenly said in surprise, "You look a bit like my dad. Are you my dad's son?"
Just then, Gabriel walked over with his arm around Jessica's waist and heard Danielle's words, making Jessica burst into laughter.
Gabriel, however, didn't laugh and looked disdainful. "I don't have such a troublesome son."
Nicholas stood up, one hand in his pocket, and rolled his eyes at them. He then looked down at Danielle and said, "Remember, I'm your Uncle Nicholas! There's no one more handsome or excellent than me, got it?"
Danielle looked confused. "Huh..."
"Tsk, but to be honest, you do look a lot like him." Nicholas, looking a bit uncomfortable, studied Danielle's face and suddenly pinched her cheek lightly. "You're a girl, but if you had a son, he might resemble young Gabriel, a real troublemaker."
