Chapter 507 Felt at Ease Completely
Landon didn't respond, but Jessica closed her eyes and felt at ease completely.
If it weren't for Rebecca confirmed that Gabriel was indeed in a critical condition and unlikely to wake up anytime soon, Aaron wouldn't have returned to Washington so quickly. He also wouldn't have shown up to try to cut off her leads after noticing Jessica and some family interference in Manhattan Construction, thereby exposing himself.
Currently, a large portion of the evidence Jessica held was something Gabriel must have known long ago, like the funds Aaron had embezzled from the Jenner family over the past twenty years and the public funds he had siphoned off during his dealings with Manhattan Construction. He had been conspicuous, but his collusion with officials and businessmen had kept his shady dealings under wraps.
However, if Gabriel had sent someone to intervene, Aaron would have had to rush back, unable to continue remotely controlling the Jenner family's internal and external affairs. Wanting their lives and ending it all wasn't an impossible task.
But even if Gabriel wasn't dead, as long as he couldn't wake up and they kept an eye on Jessica and prevented her from expanding the situation, everything would still continue to move in a favorable direction for Aaron.
Donald was still around, and various people in the Jenner family were still watching, so Jessica couldn't have any more incidents, nor could she continue to have opportunities to investigate. So Aaron chose to confine her.
If the kidnappers had succeeded in taking her away that day, no one knew where she would have been taken or what more uncontrollable situations she would have faced.
Jessica glanced at the hospital room and asked in a low voice, "How far is this hospital from the previous one? Won't you be discovered coming over like this?"
"It's fine; everything has been arranged. Recently, not only have you stabilized the various factions within the Jenner family, but the people we've sent out have also verified a lot of things. Once the kidnapper's phone is repaired and the data is recovered, everything will be fine."
He suddenly added in a low voice, "Actually, Mr. Harriman has never stopped investigating Aaron. But we didn't expect your mother's ordeal in Xyleria over twenty years ago, so you recently contacted Keegan because his father was involved in that incident?"
Jessica asked hoarsely, "You know I met Keegan?"
Landon coughed. "When you had the accident, Mr. Harriman and I were a bit far from the scene, so we couldn't get there in time. Samuel happened to be nearby and saw the Mercedes crash into the guardrail. When he called for a rescue, he encountered Keegan. When Keegan pulled you out of the water, he didn't intend to let Samuel take you away until Samuel expressed his private connection with Mr. Harriman."
"Stay in the hospital and recover. Leave the rest to us; you don't need to run around anymore," Landon said pointedly. "It's quite risky you met Keegan alone."
Jessica was speechless for a moment.
It seemed Gabriel had already arranged for people to handle everything regarding the Jenner family these days, except for her investigation into her mother's past with Keegan and her sudden departure from the auto repair shop to meet Keegan.
No wonder their people were far from the scene at the time; they hadn't expected her to suddenly go to Spring Villa.
Fortunately, Samuel was nearby. Otherwise, even if Gabriel had set up a tight net to protect her, she would have accidentally slipped out of it and died.
Jessica's pale lips moved slightly, and she whispered, "I didn't go to see him; it was because of my mom."
Landon nodded. "We know, and Mr. Harriman knows too. When the Mercedes SUV was pulled out, we found your bag. The file folder you had in your bag was waterproof, so most of the documents inside were intact. The evidence is well-collected. We've already contacted Marshall's people through your connections. Leave it to us and rest well."
Jessica nodded and closed her eyes, finally able to let out a long sigh of relief.
Aaron's incident happened the afternoon of the second day after Jessica woke up.
He was exposed for embezzlement and bribery during his years of cooperation with Manhattan Construction.
Surprisingly, it was also revealed that Aaron had arranged several secret sex transactions in Xyleria with his then-business partner, Andrew Barnes of the Barnes family, over twenty years ago while taking bribes from Rubin Corporation. This deeply buried secret was also exposed.
The biggest victim of the incident was Jessica's mother. Because she was too beautiful and articulate for that era, she was targeted by Aaron and Andrew during a collaboration case. They set a trap for her.
She escaped that terrible transaction only to fall into another trap arranged by Aaron.
She never officially entered the Jenner family, but her life was ruined by the secret conflicts of the entire Jenner family, and she died with resentment.
Aaron was arrested at a high-end club in Washington while drinking with business friends.

The internal situation of the Jenner family was now even more turbulent. Although Donald was still lying down or sitting in a wheelchair unable to do anything, and Eugene's current situation was unclear, no one dared to touch Donald because of Jessica and Gabriel.
As for the other relatives and friends of the Jenner family, they were reassessing their views on Jessica. Initially, they thought she was just aligned with Eugene.
