Chapter 111 My Mommy Cooked Pasta for You

Nicholas felt that Danielle's eyes were very familiar, but for a moment, he couldn't quite recall who Danielle resembled. The photo was taken from a distance, and even when zoomed in, the child's face wasn't particularly clear. The only clear recognition was that there was a small child next to Jessica!
Whose child was it?
Nicholas was still in the car, trying hard to zoom in on the photo to examine the child's face carefully. He felt like he had seen it somewhere before, but how could he have seen a little girl who looked about four years old?
Suddenly, memories of his childhood flooded back. Gabriel had been such a cherubic child until five or six. As he aged, the cute plumpness faded, replaced by a handsome aloofness.
However, at that time, Nicholas was young. His impression of Gabriel when he was very young was quite blurry.
Fred, the butler, had long seen Nicholas return, but the car had been parked in the courtyard of the Harriman family's old mansion for quite some time without Nicholas getting out. He thought something might have happened and quickly came over to knock on the car door. "Nicholas?"
Nicholas snapped out of it, turned off his cellphone screen, got out of the car, and hurried back to have dinner with Michael. Although it was just dinner, it was like a daunting task waiting for him.
Fred saw Nicholas's dark expression as Nicholas got out of the car and restrained his laughter.
If it weren't for Michael sealing the few cards in his hands to make him take over Harriman Entertainment and causing Nicholas not to want to live a frugal life outside, he would have to come home frequently to eat and obediently go to work at the company. Gabriel and Michael were in perfect agreement, with no intention of helping him at all.
The mischievous Nicholas of the Harriman family had recently been mentally tortured by Michael into becoming a recognized good grandson, returning home on time, which was quite rare.
During dinner, Nicholas, who had been scolded by Michael for a long time as usual, had his ears numbed to the point of having no sensation. His words briefly fell on deaf ears. Suddenly, when Michael reminisced about Gabriel's childhood, Nicholas subconsciously interjected, "What did Gabriel look like when he was young?"
Michael rebuked him, looking at him with disdain. "Looking better than you."
Nicholas took a sip of the soup that the servant had just served, burned his tongue, and retorted, "Grandpa, you're biased. At least I'm also standing on the ceiling of looks. Fortunately, I have good mental health; otherwise, after being discouraged by you for over twenty years, I was about to be driven crazy by you long ago."
"I'm lucky if you haven't made me sick." Michael glanced at him askew.
Nicholas didn't say anything more, and after dinner, he asked a few more questions about Gabriel's childhood. After all, he was too young at the time to remember clearly. Still, now that Michael was older, he also didn't remember the details from over twenty years ago very well, only saying that Gabriel was also very cute as a child.
Asking was as well as asking in vain.
" Fred, do we have any photos of Gabriel from his childhood at home?" he turned to the old butler and asked.
Fred replied, "Nicholas, Gabriel doesn't like being photographed, just like when he was young. The few photos from when he was very young seemed to have disappeared. When the servants tidied up his things and sent them to Charm Villa, they didn't seem to be at home. Maybe they're at Charm Villa. You know, these days, apart from us older folks, no one really looks at the dusty old photo albums from over twenty years ago."
In Charm Villa?
It might be hard to find them for a while.
"Why are you asking this, Nicholas?"
"Nothing. I'm just tired of seeing Gabriel's cold face all the time and wanted to reminisce about what he looked like as a child." Nicholas forced a not-so-sincere smile and went straight back to the car.
Fred's mouth twitched.
Gabriel was just as unresponsive when he was young, indifferent, and distant to everyone, but despite his young age, he was very sensible in all aspects, which left a deep impression on the servants. One of the most memorable incidents was when Nicholas, who had just turned one year old, wet four-year-old Gabriel, who then picked up Nicholas with a dark face and gave him a good beating.
That seemed to be the only time Gabriel lost his temper in the Harriman family.
It was perhaps for this reason that Nicholas had been mischievous since he was young, difficult to discipline, unafraid of anyone except Gabriel.
The next day, Danielle's kindergarten held a sports day, and the teacher asked the children to chant slogans, cheer each other on, and do various cheers.
As a result, Danielle had been shouting on the way back these past two days, "Mommy is the best, Mommy is an angel, Mommy is the cutest, Mommy, go go go."
Today, she was a bit late picking up Danielle, having just taken Danielle to a children's restaurant for a hearty meal. It was past eight when they returned home.
Jessica returned from work in a good mood and joined in the childishness with Danielle.
She didn't notice the vehicles in front of the residential compound, and she and Danielle were praising each other.
"Mommy is an angel!"
"Danielle is a little angel."
"Mommy is the most beautiful angel!"
"Danielle is the cutest little angel."
"Mommy is super gentle and beautiful!"
"Danielle is adorable and cute."
A black Bentley is parked by the roadside.
Gabriel was forced to listen to their mutual praise for five minutes, rubbed his brow, and rolled down the car window.
Jessica was about to take Danielle home and continue their exaggerated mutual praise when she suddenly saw Danielle's eyes light up towards the road and exclaimed excitedly behind her, "Uncle Spencer!"
Jessica instinctively turned around and saw the familiar black Bentley parked by the entrance to their residential compound and then met the gaze of Gabriel in the driver's seat through the car window.
Before she could react, Danielle had already jumped onto the open window on the passenger side, standing on the curb, hands grasping the window, stretching her neck to look inside. "Uncle Spencer, I miss you! Where have you been?"
Jessica quickly reached out to pull Danielle down from the expensive car door. "Danielle, don't climb on the car window. Come down!"
Gabriel had already opened the door on the other side and got out of the car.
Danielle quickly broke free from Jessica's grasp, bypassed the vehicle, and pounced on Gabriel's leg, skillfully hugging it. "I miss Uncle Spencer very much!"
Gabriel faintly smiled and patted Danielle's little head. "Have you been good lately?"
"I've been good, I've been very good!" Danielle hugged his leg, looked up with a happy smile, and didn't care that Jessica stood by, wanting to pull her off Gabriel's leg but couldn't reach out. Danielle blinked her big eyes and said, "Uncle Spencer, you're really handsome!"
Jessica rubbed her temples in frustration; this little infatuated girl!
Gabriel raised his elegant eyebrows and looked at Jessica. "Have you had dinner?"
Indeed, they had already eaten, and Jessica nodded honestly.
Gabriel said, "I haven't eaten yet."
Jessica hesitated.
Danielle's crisp voice suddenly came from his side, "Uncle Spencer, come to our house to eat. My Mommy will cook pasta for you!"
Gabriel readily agreed to Danielle but looked at Jessica. "Okay."
Jessica was speechless.
