Chapter 221 Is He Not Planning to Restrain Himself Anymore?

Willard was quite surprised. The Department of Justice had never had any dealings with the Harriman Group, and they rarely interacted with the business field. He hadn't expected Gabriel from the Harriman Group to personally request a meeting with him.

Seeing Landon left with meaningful words, Willard lowered his head and thoughtfully looked at the business card in his hand for a while.

He turned and called his secretary over. "Bring me the application materials and the commutation documents that Stanley wrote inside. I want to review them again."

The secretary responded, "Okay."

Willard carefully heldLandon's business card in his hand, thought for a moment, and then said, "Stanley probably can't be released for now. Inform the people not to transfer him to the isolation room; let him stay in the original prison cell. Besides, bring me the materials related to his conviction back then. I want to review them again."

The secretary was puzzled. The prison department under the Ministry of Justice was definitely an emote and lucrative place, even the inspection office couldn't do much about them. The secretary had never seen Willard fear anyone before.

Why did the assistant who just came make Willard suddenly so cautious?

As Willard turned and walked back, he asked in a low voice, "What was Stanley convicted of back then?"

The secretary replied, "Attempted child molestation."

Mr. Adams frowned. "You wouldn't guess it by looking at him. He looks decent and even wrote a good application, but he's actually a hypocrite."

Jessica was woken up by the ringtone of her phone the next morning.

Yesterday, Gabriel had set her phone's ringtone to silent and vibrate mode. She slept soundly through the night and only heard the frequent vibrations in the morning. As she turned over andgrabbed the phone from the bedside table, she just saw that Mackenzie was calling.

"Hello, Mackenzie," Jessica answered in a groggy voice, rubbing her head. Her voice was sleepy, clearly just waking up.

Mackenzie was silent for a moment, analyzing Jessica's current state from her voice, and then asked softly, "Are you okay now?"

Jessica was much more awake now. "I'm fine. Have you already known about it?"

"Yesterday, things happened so urgently. The crew couldn't even contact the driver. Later, after Mr. Harriman picked up my call, we received a notification from the police. The driver was temporarily arranged by the crew because we were only filming in Sunshine Bay City for a few days. The logistics responsible for these things were also found through friends and weren't very familiar with the driver. We didn't expect something like this to happen."

"It's okay. It has nothing to do with the crew, but in the future, try to find people we know well," Jessica said as she sat up, realizing that Gabriel wasn't in the room.

Didn't he say they only booked one room yesterday?

She didn't even remember how she fell asleep, but she had a good sleep and felt refreshed, completely different from the frightened state she was in yesterday.

"The crew is quite worried about you and plans to give you a few days off. Do you want to go back to Xyleria to rest for a few days, or just stay in Sunshine Bay City?"

"No need for a break, but I have a wound on my head. Ask the stylist if they can do a hairstyle with bangs to cover it. Otherwise, it will take at least a week or two for the wound to heal, and that's too much time to waste,," Jessica said as she touched her forehead. "This troublesome crew, the sooner we wrap up, the better. I don't want to waste a single day there."

Yesterday, the police mentioned that Jessica had sustained some injuries. Mackenzie, worried about Jessica's emotional state, hadn't asked directly. But now, upon hearing Jessica's words, her tone immediately changed, "Where are you? I'll come and find you! Have you seen a doctor?"

Jessica didn't even know where she was, only knew that it was a hotel.

Probably to let her sleep well, the curtains were drawn.

"You don't need to come over. I can handle it. I'll come to Urban Oasis Hotel to find you later. If I can resume work tomorrow, let's start right away. No need for a break."

With Jessica's determination, Mackenzie knew she couldn't stop her. Besides, it wasn't just Jessica; many people didn't like the atmosphere of this crew. Finishing the shoot sooner would indeed be a relief.

After a few more words with Mackenzie, Jessica hung up, lay back on the bed, and carefully recalled the events. She remembered that Gabriel had taken her to the hospital and then found a nearby hotel for her to stay temporarily.

She had slept so soundly last night because the room was very quiet, and she had drunk half a glass of red wine.

She got out of bed and walked towards the bathroom, planning to wash her face. Just as she walked over, the door to the room across from her opened. With her hair still messy from just waking up, she met Gabriel's dark eyes directly.

The room was warm, and Jessica was wearing the clothes she had changed into yesterday. The fabric was of good quality, and there were no wrinkles despite sleeping in them. However, she hadn't noticed the open collar and the ambiguous red mark on her fair neck left from the night before.

Gabriel entered with his coat draped over his arm, wearing only the shirt from last night. The top buttons were undone, giving him a casual and slightly lazy look, different from his usual formal and handsome appearance. Today, he looked somewhat carelessly lazy, and...

His gaze, unrestrained, fell on her neck.

A silent sense of invasion filled the air.

Jessica suddenly remembered the words he had said in a daze yesterday.

"You know exactly I love you!"

"Do you really think I can always let you have your way without any limits?"

"Jessica, have I been too restrained, making you feel too safe with me?"

It seemed for Gabriel, restraint and patience could hide his sharpness, often making him seem cold and unreadable.

But once the words were spoken, his gaze could be so straightforward and possessive, with deep meaning in his dark eyes.

Within half a minute, Jessica asked eagerly, "You didn't rest in the room last night, did you?"

Gabriel casually closed the door, the soft click of the door closing making Jessica's nerves tighten.

"How did you sleep?" he asked, not answering her question.

"Good," Jessica replied, slightly turning her body as Gabriel walked towards her, not even thinking about how perfunctory her answer was.

Gabriel was clearly asking how she slept, but in her ears, it sounded like Had I been too restrained?

So, was he not planning to restrain himself anymore?

What if he didn't restrain himself?
