Chapter 120 Directly Draped Over Her
Landon skillfully evaded Mr. Parker's hand without a trace and said lightly, "Mr. Parker, those who resort to despicable methods excessively are not worth your assistance. Whether it's Seaspring or KC, it's best not to meddle any further."
Mr. Parker was puzzled. "What?"
Despicable methods?
They hadn't even came to the main topic , just interrupted by the uninvited Mr. Morris, talking briefly about the second female star. What else?
Mr. Parker truly couldn't figure it out, never even thought about the aspect of the minor star in Mr. Morris's words, only thinking that Mr. Harriman had misunderstood something, quickly pulling Landon to help convey a message.
Landon didn't say much, effortlessly pushed away Mr. Parker's reaching hand, turned around, and left, seeing Gabriel had already entered the VIP elevator on the right, and followed directly.
In the private room on the second floor of Joyful Oasis Hotel, despite Mr. Morris’s absence, the KC group’s deputyor advertising strategists, continued their discussions and drinks unabated. Jessica knew before coming that this was an inevitable social event. But in her eyes, KC, as a company, was a very formal new American brand, thinking it was just about discussing an advertising endorsement, nothing more.
Moreover, before coming, Mackenzie had carefully researched the situation here, saying tonight was just to discuss the follow-up endorsement and advertising shooting style, at most a few drinks, not too much.
However, the hotel's servers kept bringing drinks to the private room. They had already drunk quite a bit when Mr. Morris was present, and now that he was gone, they were even more open, pouring one after another into Mackenzie and Jessica's glasses.
Jessica, having had four or five drinks already, was nearing her limit. Despite her reservations, she remained seated, mindful of the business social setting. She had declined a few drinks earlier and couldn't afford to refuse more. Seeing her glass filled again, this time directly with a full glass of white wine.
Jessica smiled moderately as she got up and said, "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom."
After speaking, she gave Mackenzie a glance and then left.
The restroom on the second floor was two rooms away from the private room they were in, bypassing the two elevators on this floor.
Jessica entered the restroom, looked around, and made sure no one was there. Then, she took out a small bottle of mineral water and a hangover pill that she had prepared in advance from her bag.
In such a situation meeting with advertisers, she couldn't ignore the face of the cooperating party, nor let Mackenzie lose face. The hangover pill could help her stay somewhat clear-headed even when tipsy, to avoid getting too drunk. In any case, she had to secure this endorsement, but also ensure her safe return home.
However, she couldn't open the bottle cap of this small bottle of mineral water. Even though she didn't consider herself the type who needed help to open a bottle cap, she really couldn't open it. Her hand ended up hurting as she tried to open it, looking around the corners of the restroom for something to help open the bottle.
Not finding anything to open the bottle, she had to turn around and call a server to help her pour a glass of plain water.
As she stepped out of the restroom door, a tall figure suddenly flashed in front of her. Coming too suddenly, she was instinctively startled and about to step back.
Her wrist was grabbed before she could see clearly, and before she knew it, she was forcefully pulled into the nearby elevator.
As the elevator doors closed, Jessica, with a look of astonishment, leaned against the wall inside, looking up at Gabriel, who had appeared out of nowhere.
If she hadn't vaguely sensed the familiar and clean scent on him as he approached, she would have shouted at the restroom door!
Meeting Gabriel's deep and clear gaze and seeing his familiar and handsome figure, Jessica couldn't help but twitch her eyebrows. With no one else in the elevator, she asked in confusion, "What are you doing here?"
Gabriel didn't answer, nor did he let go of her hand.
The elevator quickly reached the first floor, and with an expressionless face, he pulled Jessica out from inside, then not very gently took the bottle of mineral water from her other hand, threw it into the nearby trash can, and noticed the hangover pill in Jessica's palm.
With just a glance, Gabriel knew what it was, and with a cold and displeased look, he led her out of the hotel.
Being dragged all the way by Gabriel to the parking lot outside Joyful Oasis Hotel.
Used to Gabriel's fragile and vulnerable state during his time at her home for over a month, she hadn't had many chances to confront him directly. She didn't know how strong he was in his normal, healthy state, but she really didn't expect this man to be so strong.
She wasn't a weak and helpless woman, but she couldn't break free all the way.
There was a significant difference in their strength.
Only upon reaching the black Bentley did Gabriel release her hand. Seeing her wince and rub the pinched wrist, she quickly stepped back as he let go. In an instant, his dark eyes narrowed. Not wanting to waste words, he simply said to her, "Get in the car."
As Jessica rubbed her wrist, she looked at him inexplicably. "Why should I get in your car? I'm not here for a casual meal. I have things to do."
Before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly felt warmth behind her as the coat Gabriel had just taken off was directly draped over her.
Jessica was momentarily stunned, looking up at Gabriel, who was helping her put on the coat.
She wanted to say she had a coat, but it was left in the nanny car, and she hadn't brought it down. However, Gabriel didn't give her a chance to explain. He pressed on the coat on her back with one hand, opened the passenger door with the other, and pushed her in.
Jessica almost stumbled and sat down in the passenger seat, completely unclear why Gabriel was angry. She turned to get out of the car, but Gabriel had already leaned over to fasten her seatbelt.
Jessica almost hit his chin, and she sat stiffly in place, feeling the air around Gabriel as if it had entered a strange low-pressure zone.
Contemplating the missed endorsement opportunity, she felt regret for not discussing it further. However, considering Gabriel's status and his current strained expression, she decided to stay put in the passenger seat instead of exiting the car. Because she had just had some drinks and eaten a few bites, Jessica's lipstick had smudged slightly. Although it didn't affect her appearance, it had a different kind of charm up close.
After Gabriel fastened her seatbelt, his gaze lingered on her face for two seconds, one of those seconds on her lips. The distance between them was so close that they could feel each other's breath.
"Even if you don't let me go back to the hotel, you still have to give me a reason." Although Jessica didn't get out of the car, she still wanted to clarify. When her eyes met Gabriel's intense gaze at close range, she fell silent in an instant.
