Chapter 671 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 156
Because last night in the cave was an unexpected situation with no electricity or fire, everyone was really exhausted. The director, showing some mercy, only filmed the process of everyone getting on the bus and preparing to sleep. He didn't continue filming the rest of the bus ride, allowing everyone to get some proper rest.
During the bus ride, the director and producer took a few phone calls. It seemed like they were discussing Rachel and Lester leaving the show and the arrival of new members.
No one listened closely to the details, but they got the gist of it.
In short, Rachel had already lined up a movie to shoot next month while she was with the show. However, it seemed like the movie no longer wanted her and planned to replace the lead actress. Rachel's management company was being difficult, so they sought help from the show's production team to find suitable reasons to terminate her contract.
The director and producer couldn't really comment on this, as they had no collaboration with Rachel's management company and didn't want to get involved in such a sensitive issue.
So, the conversation was brief and vague, ending quickly.
No one expected that Rachel's participation in just two episodes of the show, which hadn't even officially aired yet, would have such a significant impact on her career.
And this impact wasn't due to any behind-the-scenes actions by Jessica or Gabriel, nor was it influenced by anyone else.
During a twenty-minute rest stop, Jessica snuck off to the restroom to throw up. The past few days had been exhausting, and although her morning sickness hadn't been too severe, the lack of sleep and long bus ride made her feel unwell.
After throwing up, she planned to wash her face. Debra, who had also gotten off the bus, handed her a pack of tissues. "Wipe your face well after washing. If you're really feeling too uncomfortable, we can talk to the director about getting you a different car. It's not good to suffer like this."
"It's okay, thank you," Jessica said with a smile, wiping her mouth clean. "This is part of the job. If it gets too much, I'll talk to the production team myself."
Debra nodded. "But Mr. Harriman seems to know you're not feeling well. He's been outside since you went into the restroom."
Jessica was surprised. She had come down alone, hoping Gabriel could get some more sleep on the bus. She didn't expect him to come down with her.
She quickly nodded to Debra and hurried outside.
Sure enough, Gabriel was standing outside, holding a bag of snacks he must have just bought from a nearby store—plums and prunes, the kind kids like to eat.
When Jessica came out, her face was freshly washed, and it wasn't obvious she had thrown up. But Gabriel could tell from her state. As she walked over, he gently wiped the remaining water from her face and neck.
"Why did you come down? You should've stayed on the bus to sleep a bit more," Jessica asked softly.
"How could I sleep?" Gabriel replied, handing her the bag of snacks. "I asked the store staff, and they said these might help with the nausea. I don't know if they'll work, though."
