Chapter 414 Harriman Group's Official Instagram Repost
Jessica's studio dropped a bombshell statement.
They posted a pic of a marriage certificate with the city registry's seal. Even though it was just a corner, you could totally see Jessica's name and photo.
In the pic, Jessica's leaning on some dude's shoulder, but his face is covered with a heart-shaped blur. She's grinning like a kid in a candy store, eyes all sparkly, way sweeter than her usual on-camera smiles.
Gabriel didn't ask for the blur, but since Michael was still in the dark and she didn't want to blow Gabriel's cover, the marriage certificate was enough to squash the rumors. No need to spill all the tea to the nosy fans and netizens.
But even this pic was a game-changer.
Mackenzie was glued to the studio's Instagram, watching the shares and DMs blow up. When Jessica sent them the pic with the heart blur earlier, they were kinda skeptical.
The seal was legit, no doubt about it.
The kicker was Jessica's smile in the pic, so sweet it almost seemed fake. No way you could Photoshop that kind of genuine happiness.
Plus, the heart-shaped blur on the guy next to her screamed love. Fans and netizens were losing their minds, flooding the comments with congrats.
"Who's this mystery man?"
"Jessica, why you cheesin' so hard in that pic?"
"Wait, is Jessica really hitched?"
Three voices rang out in the office at the same time.
Jessica glanced at the marriage certificate pic, realizing her smile was indeed a bit too sweet.
She had no clue what state she was in when Gabriel dragged her to the registry office for the photo yesterday. But from his story about her kissing and nibbling the certificate afterward, she was probably grinning like an idiot during the photo too. She was likely a bit tipsy, and the photographer probably tweaked her face color to look normal. But while the face color could be fixed, the eyes couldn't lie. Others might think her eyes were sparkling from the smile, but she knew she looked like a goofball.
Jessica cleared her throat and raised an eyebrow, trying to look serious, "Obviously, I can nail the sweet look. Make sure to cue me for this vibe during the magazine shoot this afternoon."
Lynn and Mackenzie were floored, staring at Jessica, trying to figure out what else she was hiding.
With her practically living in the office, how the heck did she secretly get hitched?
Zoey, off to the side, was deep in thought but couldn't piece it together.
How did Jessica pull off getting married?
And yesterday, Mr. Harriman...
Thinking about Amy's outburst yesterday, "I need to ask him what he's thinking, daring to touch a married woman."
Zoey suddenly got chills.
No way, right? Jessica wouldn't just marry some rando to dodge future gossip, would she?
"So, should we be throwing you a wedding party or asking why you got married without a heads-up?" Lynn looked all tense. "Jessica, you're not just an artist, you're one of the studio's big shots. You know how cutthroat this industry is. You went all out to protect Danielle back then, but if you're really married, at least spill the tea on who the guy is and if he's gonna mess with your career."
"And if your hubby causes some drama, can we handle it? And can he step up if needed?"
"Hold up," Mackenzie cut in, swiping on her tablet. "The gossip accounts are already stirring the pot, saying Jessica's hiding her husband's face 'cause he ditched his family to marry her."
Lynn shot Mackenzie a look, annoyed. "Which account's gunning for Jessica now? When's this gonna stop?"
Mackenzie shrugged. "No matter how low-key Jessica tries to be, she's still a big deal. Female artists in this biz are always throwing shade, whether it's jealousy, fighting over roles, or just plain envy. Jessica's quiet and keeps to herself, which makes her an easy target for drama."
Jessica rarely posted on Instagram, keeping a low profile. She seemed friendly but was a pro at keeping her private life under wraps. Not just on Instagram, she barely posted anything all year.
As soon as Mackenzie finished, Jessica quickly fired off a post on Instagram.
Jessica: [I thought everyone knew how to be decent. Dirty tricks won't work twice. This trashy gossip is just ridiculous and gross.]
After posting, Jessica logged out. "Alright, let's roll. We got that magazine shoot, remember?"
They were cruising in the studio's car when Zoey, clutching her phone, suddenly let out a high-pitched scream, making Jessica jump. Lynn snatched the phone, glanced at it, then looked up at Jessica.
"What? Did my rare Instagram post get swarmed by haters again? How many comments? Tens of thousands?" Jessica was baffled by their reactions.
Lynn held the phone up to Jessica.
Jessica's post from half an hour ago had over 120,000 shares, and the top one was from the official Instagram of Harriman Group.
@Harriman Group official Instagram: Repost @Jessica: "I thought everyone knew how to be decent..."
Jessica's eyes widened as she stared at the phone. She took it, clicked in, and yep, it was Harriman Group's official Instagram.
Then, out of nowhere, itdropped a statement.
A minute later, Instagram's servers couldn't handle the traffic, and the search page went blank.
Instagram crashed.
