Chapter 574 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 59

Suddenly, a shadow flickered in front of Rachel's eyes. Before Gabriel could react or even think about turning around, Rachel felt a chill and a sharp pain in her chest. She looked down, stunned.

Jessica had appeared out of nowhere, swiftly stepping forward. With a gloved hand, she flicked the terrifying centipede off Rachel's chest and onto the ground. The cool surface of the glove had brushed against Rachel's skin, making her think the centipede had bitten her. Her legs went weak, and she leaned back against a tree trunk.

Rachel looked up at Jessica, still trying to process where she had come from.

"That thing is pretty scary. Who knows if it's poisonous? Instead of screaming, it's better to get rid of it quickly," Jessica said casually, removing her gloves and dusting off her hands. She glanced at the spot on Rachel's tight top. "Put some ointment on that when we get back to the lodge. It's all red. If it really bites you, we might need to go to the hospital."

Rachel's lips moved, but she said nothing, just staring at Jessica.

Jessica raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong? Too scared to talk? Go rest over there. We need to fill two more buckets and we're done."

She turned to Cindy. "The director's already talking to the rubber plantation owner about our pay, right?"

"Yeah, they're sorting it out. Once we fill these last few buckets, we're done," Cindy replied.

Jessica nodded and tossed the gloves to Rachel. "Keep going. This bucket's only half full. And don't lean against the trees too much. You don't want more bugs on you."

With that, Jessica walked away, leaving behind the impression of a nameless hero.

As she passed Gabriel, she shot him a meaningful look.

Her glance was a silent warning: No flirting allowed.

Gabriel stood tall, a slight smile on his lips. He looked back at Jessica with a knowing gaze, then casually picked up Debra's bucket of rubber and walked over to the director as if nothing had happened.

Rachel remained where she was, holding the gloves Jessica had thrown to her. She looked down at her clothes, her face pale. She pulled her sun-protective jacket tighter and quickly zipped it up. She didn't have time to see how the others reacted, and they didn't show any visible reactions either.

Lester appeared in front of Rachel, giving her a cold, mocking look.

Rachel clutched the front of her jacket, silently hanging the half-filled bucket back on the tree. She turned away from Lester's gaze, saying nothing.

Lester also said nothing, but his expression spoke volumes. He whistled softly, his cold laugh barely concealed, and muttered, "Such a pathetic attempt."

Rachel remained silent, her eyes reddening as she turned away.

Jessica's actions and her seemingly friendly demeanor replayed in Rachel's mind, fueling a deep sense of frustration and resentment.
