Kevin didn't waste any more words with Amy, just gave a quick glance towards the camera, indicating that they were still being filmed.
Amy hesitated for a moment.
He still cared about the cameras?
Wasn't Kevin the one who was least interested in this forced matchmaking reality show?
But instinctively, Amy walked over to Kevin. Just as she was about to speak, Kevin motioned for her to grab another bucket so they could work together.
Amy nodded, turned around to get it, and as she passed by Lester, she gave him a grateful smile. Lester raised an eyebrow, smiled back, but didn't say much and continued with his own work.
By late afternoon, around five o'clock, the sun hadn't completely set yet. The remaining sunlight still lingered, and although the heat had slightly subsided, the air felt even more stifling.
This was also the time when small bugs and gnats were flying everywhere. Cindy went to get two cans of bug spray from the staff, handed one to Gabriel who was nearby, and gave the other to Clayton.
Jessica had just filled another bucket with rubber. As she turned around, Gabriel reached out with his long arm and pulled her over. Before she could react, he put a mask on her and sprayed her all around.
Jessica looked up at Gabriel in confusion. Gabriel pointed to her mask, "Wait a couple of minutes for the spray to evaporate before taking it off."
Jessica nodded, checked the bucket she had just filled, and saw Gabriel passing the spray to Brent, who then passed it along to the others.
Rachel, who seemed to be in another argument with Lester, had run off quite a distance and was leaning against a tree about twenty feet away. She had only half-filled her bucket with rubber and had already taken it down to make up the numbers.
Debra and Maurice were also over there. After Brent and the others finished spraying, they handed the can back to Gabriel, who had just received an empty bucket from the staff. He was about to take it to the older couple and decided to bring the spray along as well.
Just as he handed them the items, Rachel suddenly let out a piercing scream.
The scream was so intense and shrill that it drew everyone's attention.
"Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!" Rachel stood frozen in place, her face pale with fear, screaming and looking towards them for help.
Gabriel, standing closest, saw Rachel's eyes lock onto his, her plea for help turning into a desperate cry, "Help! Mr. Harriman, please help me, I'm scared of bugs!"
Gabriel's indifferent gaze swept over Rachel. He saw it was just a common centipede, albeit a larger one, that had crawled onto her chest because she had been leaning against the tree.
Rachel was wearing a white, semi-transparent sun jacket over a pink strapless top. Because of the heat, she had unzipped the jacket, and the centipede was now crawling on the exposed part of her chest, seemingly ready to go further down.
"Help, help, Mr. Harriman, please help me." Rachel's face was genuinely pale, almost in tears, standing there motionless. Her eyes, initially filled with panic and fear, now held a mix of other emotions, with a growing sense of expectation hidden beneath the terror.
