Chapter 565 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 50

Jessica was busy mincing garlic, her back turned to Rachel as she replied, "Yeah, he cooks sometimes when he's not swamped with work."

"Mr. Harriman is quite the catch, huh? A big-shot businessman who can also whip up a meal at home. You don't even see that in movies. Ms. Jenner, you're one lucky lady," Rachel couldn't help but praise.

"It's not that big of a deal. Sometimes my daughter and I get a bit lazy and crave his cooking. I love his lamb chops, and my daughter loves the steaks he makes. He indulges us occasionally. A happy marriage is about supporting each other and finding joy in the little things. There's nothing unrealistic about that," Jessica said with a smile, placing the minced garlic into a bowl. She then raised her garlic-scented hands. "I'm gonna wash my hands."

Rachel stepped aside to make room for her, handing a cucumber to Cindy, who had just come over. She continued to stand by Jessica, lost in thought.

"Rachel, you should head out for now. We're about to start frying and chopping, and it's gonna get smoky in here. You just took a shower, and we don't have any extra aprons. Go take a break, and we'll continue collecting rubber this afternoon," Cindy said, patting Rachel on the shoulder.

Realizing she wasn't much help, Rachel didn't argue. She turned to leave, grabbing a ripe tomato from the vegetable bowl next to Jessica on her way out.

"I heard Rachel started in the entertainment industry when she was twelve or thirteen. She doesn't have many credits, but she's considered a child star. Maybe she picked up that slick talk from the adults in the industry," Cindy remarked casually as she turned to her tasks.

Jessica could tell Cindy had noticed Rachel's unreliability but was trying to keep the peace since they'd be working together for a while. Cindy, being the older sister figure, wanted to avoid conflicts.

"It's fine. Everyone has different personalities. We can be colleagues without being friends. Maintaining a good working relationship is enough," Jessica said, making it clear to Cindy that she didn't need to play peacemaker.

Jessica wasn't one to start trouble, but she wouldn't ignore it if someone tried to mess with her. Many in the industry knew this about her.

Cindy just smiled and went back to making her salad.

After a light and refreshing lunch, they skipped the afternoon break and headed straight to the rubber plantation. Jessica had felt a bit queasy in the morning, especially with the smell of rubber, but she felt better after the light meal and got back to work without any issues.

By the afternoon, everyone had gotten the hang of collecting rubber, and their pace had picked up significantly.

Amy and Kevin's bucket was almost full. Amy, worried it might overflow, saw Kevin was busy a bit further away and called Lester over to help her carry it down.

Rachel's bucket was also nearly full. Not seeing Lester around, she turned to Gabriel, who was helping someone else nearby. "Mr. Harriman, my bucket's almost full too. Could you give me a hand?"
