Chapter 481 Wearing Gabriel's Loose and Warm Clothes

Even though Gabriel didn't come to Washington frequently, people of his caliber were well-known among the children of wealthy families.

However, the three girls who would normally be infatuated with a man like Gabriel were now sitting on the ground, terrified, as they watched Gabriel help Jessica put on her coat and scarf, completely ignoring them. They knew that if they truly offended Jessica, even if the Jenner family wouldn't punish them, Gabriel wouldn't let them off easily.

Jessica saw the shock and genuine fear in their eyes as she stood there in Gabriel's large, warm clothes, looking down at them coldly. "Apologize."

The girl in the middle trembled, then staggered to her feet, leaning against the wall, her face flushed as she whispered, "I'm sorry."

Gabriel caught a glimpse of her facing him and Jessica, and sure enough, Jessica's eyes turned cold. "Who are you apologizing to?"

The girl refused to face Rebecca who was in the corner, pursed her lips, and said, "I shouldn't have hit anyone, and I shouldn't have bullied anyone with my friends."

"Since you know that, who are you apologizing to now?" Jessica added.

Feeling humiliated, the girl glanced at Jessica, then reluctantly turned to Rebecca and whispered, "I'm sorry."

The other two girls also whispered, "I'm sorry."

Rebecca, wearing Jessica's clothes, looked a bit dazed and softly said, "Huh?"

"She didn't hear you; speak louder!" Jessica said, losing her patience.

The three girls quickly shouted in unison, "Sorry!"

Jessica turned to the girl named Rebecca. "Do you accept their apology? If not, go see your elders up front."

"No, don't tell it to my dad and grandpa," the girl in the middle suddenly panicked and quickly apologized to Rebecca again, bowing deeply. "Rebecca, I'm sorry! We won't do it again."

Although it was an apology, the last few words were clearly spoken through gritted teeth.

These were spoiled young ladies, forced to apologize under the dual pressure of Jessica and Gabriel, not daring to cause more trouble.

Rebecca, who was staying in the corner, looking at the three girls, then at Jessica, finally whispering, "I accept."

"Thank you," the three girls repeatedly nodded to Rebecca, then looked at Jessica and cautiously asked, "Can we leave now?"

Seeing Jessica ignore them, they understood and turned to Rebecca. When Rebecca slowly nodded, they quickly ran off, not caring about their phones .

The corridor returned to silence. Jessica glanced at Gabriel, the coldness in her eyes gone, and even asked softly, "Was I too harsh?"

"Not really. I've seen you be harsher," Gabriel replied.

Hearing this, Jessica was confused.

When Gabriel was recovering in her old house, she had repeatedly threatened to throw him off a cliff and let him fend for himself. She had woken him up several times with her rough bandaging, although she tried to be gentle most of the time. But there were still few times when she regretted bringing such a man home. She could kill cockroaches without flinching, climb on the sofa to fix a light, carry dozens of pounds of groceries up the stairs by herself, collapse on the sofa exhausted, and look at the ceiling without moving. She could drag Danielle back to the children's room when she got angry and warn her not to come out. Yet, she was always the princess mommy in Danielle's eyes. She had endured for years, fought for justice for herself against the Jenner family, and protected Danielle from any external harm. But she always appeared indifferent to the world.

Her gentleness was always hidden inside, but she had a very distinct personality.

When she bit, she bit hard. But she rarely showed it.

Gabriel understood when he saw Rebecca being bullied and Jessica stepping in, unable to bear it.

She saw her own past.

"If it were three grown men, I'd probably hide behind you," Jessica suddenly laughed, "I was just bullying kids."

She was conscious. Although she had acted impulsively, she knew what she couldn't do.

It was the Jenner Estate here. She was Jessica. In the eyes of these children from Washington's elite families, status and background were highly valued. Even if they were unwilling, they had already lost in terms of momentum when facing the legitimate daughter of the Jenner family, especially with Gabriel present.

"Thank you," a weak voice of gratitude came from behind Jessica.

Jessica turned and saw Rebecca, still wearing her clothes, with red marks on her face. She looked at her and asked, "Your name is Rebecca?"

Rebecca nodded, pursing her lips as she looked at Jessica, seemingly aware of who Jessica was from the earlier conversation.

Jessica asked, "Why didn't you fight back or tell your family when you were being bullied? There are so many people in the Jenner Estate, including elders. Didn't anyone help you?"

Although Jessica's tone was not warm and even somewhat distant, the concern in her words was evident. Rebecca lowered her head and softly said, "After my mom and I returned to the Jenner Estate, my mom's health wasn't good, and she couldn't take care of me. I wasn't familiar with anyone here. Besides going to school at fixed times, I stayed in my room alone. No one cared about me."

"How old are you?" then she asked.

"Seventeen," Rebecca replied.

Jessica turned to face her, looking serious. "If no one helps you, you should help yourself. Crying won't do any good. You should have your own opinions and learn to grow up when necessary."
