Chapter 386 This Incredibly Upright Man
Jessica sat back in front of the live stream camera, and glanced down at her phone. What she found almost made her lose composure.
Gabriel?
Hadn't she already deleted and blocked him?
How could he be sending her a WhatsApp message?
When did she add him back?
She had no impression of it.
Although Jessica managed to control her expression in front of the camera, the fleeting look of surprise when she glanced at her phone was caught by her fans watching the livestream. They flooded the chat with comments about how cute Jessica's little expressions were.
Jessica didn't look up, still puzzled about when Gabriel's WhatsApp had reappeared in her list.
It couldn't have been after she accidentally fell asleep at his home yesterday.
Gabriel, a man who was always so upright and proper, would do something so unethical?!
Sitting next to her, the male lead of "Against the Flow," Liam, suddenly laughed and said, "Jessica has a lot of cute expressions. When we were filming together, she was always so serious and amazing in her acting. Besides, she's actually a very interesting person. And Jessica is really good at taking good care of health; she always has a thermos with her on set. That's probably why she looks like a high schooler without makeup. I even felt bad hitting her during fight scenes."
Hearing Liam mention her, Jessica finally looked up at the screen and saw comments about how cute her expressions were.
She didn't realize the fans were talking about her expression while looking at her phone. She thought they were discussing funny moments from filming, smiling and saying, "Obviously, Liam's performance on the big screen is more stable. I can't compare. There were scenes where you helped me get into character. You can't just praise me because the fans do. Look, so many fans are praising Liam. You can't just pick the comments that praise me."
They joked a bit more until Liam continued chatting with the fans. Jessica then looked down and unlocked her phone screen.
Gabriel: [Where are you?]
Jessica couldn't figure out how he got back on her WhatsApp, but it was already past seven, and Sarah must have already been there.
She replied: [I have some other work.]
Then, after a moment, she added: [Sarah should have already made dinner. I won't go to your home tonight. Get some rest and make sure the family doctor comes tomorrow.]
Gabriel: [No, I choose you.]
Jessica: [It's not like there's no one to make dinner. What would I do there after you've eaten?]
Gabriel: [Shower.]
Jessica was speechless and rubbed her forehead.
She quickly typed: Let Sarah help you shower.
After typing it out, she hesitated and deleted it word by word.
Even though Sarah was older, it wouldn't be appropriate for her to help with that. Gabriel would probably rather risk getting his wound wet than have Sarah help him.
But why did showering become her duty?
Jessica: [Has Landon come back? Or ask Wayne to help you shower? If not, there should be other employees from your company near Blue Bay Apartments. Just call one of them. And Nicholas, he's your brother. He won't mind helping you.]
Gabriel suddenly replied.
Jessica could imagine Gabriel's cold expression as he held his phone.
If he replied, it would probably be something like, 'I'm not interested in having other men see my body.'
She didn't know why, but the thought made Jessica chuckle.
The chat's discussion instantly changed, with fans laughing and asking Jessica what was so funny and to share it on Instagram so they could laugh, too.
A passerby commented: [Liam was the Best Actor of last year, but obviously Jessica was messaging with others on WhatsApp while sitting next to him? Wow, even a heartthrob can be ignored?]
[Hey, Mrs. Jenner, please be professional. Don't play with your phone during the live stream. Look at us, not your phone!]
[Curious about who Jessica is texting with. Is it WhatsApp?]
[Could it be Jessica's rumored husband? Why not show us a picture of your mysterious husband while the live stream is lively!]
[Support! Show us Jessica's mysterious husband!]
[Seconded!]
[Same here!]
Jessica saw that Gabriel hadn't replied, probably annoyed by her. Unaware of the chat's content, she sent another message: [Even though times have changed and men aren't necessarily safe with other men, I can assure you that Landon and Wayne are not gays. You must be safe because they have no interest in you. Just call them.]
Gabriel was at a loss for words.
Nonsense stopped here.
Gabriel: [You come.]
His tone was firm, leaving no room for refusal.
Jessica raised an eyebrow, glanced at the time on her phone, and replied: [Then you wait.]
She suddenly noticed the staff around her looking at her and saw Liam smiling at her. She then glanced at the screen.
Among the chat, almost all the comments transferred from who Jsssica was texting with to mysterious husband of hers must be the one she's texting with. By the way, everyone is demanding a photo.
She put her phone down and answered some normal questions from the chat. But the chat continued to demand a photo of her husband, supposing they were must in great love due to her sweet smile.
Nonsense!
When did she smile sweetly?
She was clearly a woman forced by life and enslaved by reality, facing "extra work" after a full day of work. How could she smile?
She also didn't think that joking counted as smiling.
At eight o'clock, the live stream ended. Jessica said goodbye to the fans and, after cutting the signal, Liam stood up and asked, "Our team just arrived tonight and hasn't eaten yet. Eat together?"
"Maybe another time. I have something to do tonight. I'll treat you next time."
Liam raised an eyebrow, "Didn't your crew wrap up today? You just finished the live stream. You will still work in such a situation?"
Lynn, overhearing, gave Jessica a meaningful eye.
Who arranged work for Jessica?
She didn't.
"Uh, it's not work, just something else. We'll definitely have dinner together another time."
Jessica smiled politely at Liam and gave Lynn a eye.
Lynn got the hint and walked over, saying, "Tonight's not convenient, and we've already eaten."
Liam nodded regretfully and left with his team.
Downstairs, Zoey drove her and asked with a smile, "Jessica, where you go? The studio or Blue Bay Apartments?"
Jessica's mouth twitched, and she paused for two seconds in the rearview mirror, "Blue Bay Apartments."
