Chapter 194 Gabriel Picked up His Phone and Opened It
Chapter 194 Who Will Come to the Rescue?
A week later, Jessica went to Sunshine Bay City to meet with the crew.
The crew sent a car to pick them up and directly arranged for Jessica and her team to stay at the largest five-star hotel in Sunshine Bay City.
The main scene of the drama "Honey Ferris Wheel" was in Xyleria. Sunshine Bay City, being a newly developed tourist town in recent years, had a particularly beautiful environment that was perfect for filming. Before its development, it was a famous town with mountain and water landscapes close to Xyleria. Due to geographical reasons, although the development was good now, there were only a few good hotels in the area.
The Urban Oasis Hotel, where Jessica was currently staying, could be said to be the best five-star hotel in Sunshine Bay City. However, the hotel was a bit of a distance from the scene of the press conference, so the driver and assistant, along with other crew members, were arranged to stay at a nearby business hotel.
The weather in Sunshine Bay City was not much different from Xyleria, but due to being a town boasting the beautiful landscape of mountain and water, it could be slightly colder than the city. Jessica took a shower and changed clothes at the hotel, looked around inside and outside the room, and then messaged Mackenzie to ask if the personnel for tomorrow's press conference had been confirmed.
Mackenzie replied: [There's a piece of news I just received, which may not be good news for you.]
Perhaps unable to express clearly through WhatsApp, Mackenzie called directly, "This drama has only two investors, excluding other advertisers. The biggest investor is Carl from the Nelson Group. Donna somehow got close to him at a recent dinner, and it seems she even became his goddaughter. Carl seems to dote on her. Originally, the script had two female leads, and the other lead, Helen, was suddenly replaced yesterday and became Donna."
Jessica's eyebrows raised immediately. "Donna? How can a female idol singer like her act in a drama?"
"Indeed, she is now one of the female leads alongside you. Since you didn't mind sharing the female lead position from the beginning, and she brought in the investment andcontinued Helen's contract, this non-acting female idol singer overshadowed you once she joined the cast. That's not important. What's important is her terrible acting skills. You might have a hard time dealing with it."
Jessica asked directly, "Can I terminate the contract and quit the show?"
Mackenzie replied, "No, the higher-ups at Blue Ocean Media, in order to appease the advertisers of this show and secure the cooperation opportunity, suddenly intervened and signed an unequal contract for you. If you breach the contract, you will have to pay fifty times the compensation fee, enough to buy a small apartment in Blue Bay Apartments."
Veins bulged on Jessica's forehead. "The director of this show is a well-known judge of acting skills in the industry. She demands such high standards for acting. Can she even handle a day of shooting? How long do I have to keep acting opposite her?"
"Donna will come directly to the press conference tomorrow. On the day she joins the cast, Carl will arrange for an acting tutor to come and teach her. It's all too rushed, and who knows what chaos it will bring. I think she's deliberately here to cause trouble for you."
Donna was just here to cause trouble for Jessica!
A female idol singer who has just debuted for a year came over to act and directly took the female lead position.
Torturing Jessica during filming was more infuriating than being involved in negative publicity or rumors.
Jessica's temples throbbed, and gritting her teeth was of no use. She was an artist under Mackenzie, belonging to BlueOcean Media. The company's higher-ups signed a contract on her behalf. Unless she could afford the penalty for breach of contract, she had to continue filming with this crew.
That evening, the main actors arrived one after another, as everyone needed to be present for the opening ceremony the next day.
Jessica called Caroline into her room. Caroline had been staying at home these days to take care of Danielle. Jessica was reassured, but she knew Danielle would miss her, and Danielle chatted with Jessica on the phone for a long time.
In the evening, the crew had dinner here, as it was the first time everyone was meeting. From actors to backstage production staff and other crew members, they all needed to get acquainted.
Donna couldn't make it tonight, but the other main actors had all arrived.
Jessica declined alcohol, and she had a pleasant conversation with the main actors. Zoey and Mackenzie accompanied her this time.
After dinner, Mackenzie suddenly went to talk to the coordinator for a few words. She seemed unhappy, and after some negotiation, Mackenzie returned with a displeased expression.
Jessica looked at her. "What's wrong?"
As Mackenzie walked away, she said, "The crew had arranged for a trailer for you, but suddenly, it changed, and that trailer will now go to Donna tomorrow."
Zoey exclaimed beside her, "What about Jessica's trailer?"
"They said a slightly larger trailer was temporarily sent over for us to make do with for now, and we'll sort it out after returning to Xyleria." Mackenzie rolled her eyes as she spoke.
Zoey was visibly upset after hearing this. "This is too much. Isn't it obvious they're bullying us? Has the trailer that was arranged been taken away? This show has two female leads; Jessica is also a lead. How can they treat us like this?"
Mackenzie grimaced. "I've already negotiated with the coordinator. They said there's no other way. We'll have to wait until we return to Xyleria to have the trailer brought over. They plan to shoot here in Sunshine Bay City for half a month first, then return to Xyleria. We'll just have to endure it."
Jessica remained silent; she wasn't surprised at all.
Once she found out that Donna's godfather was the biggest investor in this show, she was mentally prepared.
This crew was a big trap!
Less than two months away from the new year, the year-end work at Harriman Group was nearing completion. Most of the employees would choose to take their annual leave in the quieter two months ahead or relax a bit now, waiting for the New Year holidays and the arrival of the new year.
But as the group's president, Gabriel had no holidays. Even if it couldn't be said that he worked all 365 days without a break, even occasional breaks didn't allow for true rest.
The only time he truly rested in recent years was the month or so he spent recuperating with Jessica.
Gabriel had just returned from Country F two days ago and was already embarking on his next trip.
Sunshine Bay City was a developing town adjacent to Xyleria, and most of the tourist facilities and current revenue were managed by companies under the Harriman Group. When the City was initially developed, the city planning authorities intended for the Harriman Group to take over.
As late winter approached, it was the rare off-season in the tourism industry. Taking advantage of the fewer tourists, the city authorities planned to send the top leaders, major developers, and construction companies to the area for a few leisurely days and a meeting to discuss the future development of Sunshine Bay City and additional project proposals.
Gabriel had just returned to the country and saw the last-minute addition of the Sunshine Bay City itinerary.
After Wayne had reported the itinerary, he asked Gabriel whether Gabriel wanted to cancel this trip or accept the invitation.
Gabriel tilted his head, picked up his phone, opened Facebook, and glanced at the recent post from Jessica he had seen after getting off the plane.
Jessica had posted a sentence: [There may be trouble ahead. Who will come to the rescue?]
Her location was Sunshine Bay City.
