Chapter 193 Sudden Sound
Chapter 193 Sudden Sound
Jessica suddenly leaned forward slightly, looking at the pale-faced Linda, and said softly, "Trinity has always been unable to understand why I entered the entertainment industry. Ms. Jenner, guess why I did it?"
At this moment, Linda's eyes were filled with vigilance, and beneath that vigilance was a hidden determination.
However, the items in Jessica's hands were obviously just a part. If something really happened to Jessica in this cafe, those items might be exposed immediately.
Linda stared at Jessica, suddenly feeling a chill. The girl who grew up in front of Linda was never as simple and innocent as she appeared on the surface. Even when she was wrongly accused and took the blame for the dance, it turned out that she had planned it all herself to find a way out.
"Do you think these things can control me? You and your mother are so alike, both so naive," Linda suddenly mocked.
Jessica looked at her indifferently. "You have been in the Jenner family for over twenty years, maintaining the image of a virtuous and noble lady. Eugene still doesn't know about your deception and manipulation over the years. He naturally won't easily believe all this. I never intended to contact him."
Provoked, Linda stared at her, "Is it that you don't want to contact him, or you can't reach him? Do you think you can return to the Jenner family?"
Seeing Jessica's silence, Linda finally wore a victorious smile, as if she had stabbed Jessica's most painful side with the cruelest familial knife. "Regardless of blood ties, he has never publicly acknowledged you as his daughter, including your short-lived mother."
After saying that, Linda casually took out a tissue to wipe her mouth, even though there were no coffee stains.
At that moment, Jessica replied expressionlessly, "It was me who smashed the bottle on his head years ago, vowing to sever the father-daughter relationship. Do you think I care about that?"
Linda's expression froze. Her motion of wiping her mouth slowed down, and she had a pensive look in her eyes.
"The doors of the Jenner family are too big. As long as the doors are closed, even if an insignificant daughter dies unjustly inside, no one will know," Jessica said, looking at her. "Since I can remember, you have been trying to instill negative emotions in me, attempting to control my thoughts. When you realized I didn't cooperate, you gradually wanted me to disappear. You have been watching every step I take for so many years. If it weren't for that fire back then, how could I have smoothly been expelled from the Jenner family? How could I have escaped your control for so many years?"
Linda sneered, "Escaping by faking death? You are still a useless waste."
As Linda sneered and was about to get up, Jessica's voice, devoid of warmth, said, "Wasn't it you, Ms. Jenner, who started that fire? If I hadn't played along, how could I have gathered so much evidence smoothly, even tracing back to how you meticulously planned to kill my mother over twenty years ago? It's because of this that every step you took, every sin you committed, is now in my hands."
Linda's smile froze on her lips, and the air suddenly chilled as if the air conditioning had malfunctioned.
Jessica sat calmly across from her. She had never gradually grown in the personality Linda had set for herself, as if she had always stood on an irregular opposing side, making it hard to figure out. Yet Jessica's calm demeanor seemed to suggest that she wouldn't be surprised no matter what Linda did to her. She exuded a silent and mocking air within her calmness.
Unable to hold back any longer, Linda cursed through gritted teeth, "Bitch! You, this bitch, you should be as short-lived as your dead mother."
Before she could finish her words, a sudden sound echoed in the air.
Linda's face turned cold as she was abruptly splashed with a cup of water, the icy sensation hitting her face head-on. Linda didn't even see how Jessica made her move, only feeling the cold water chilling her to the core in an instant.
The cafe had surveillance cameras, but Jessica seemed unconcerned, calmly placing the now empty cup down and glancing at the file bag on the table, which remained dry due to being waterproof.
She casually spoke as if discussing someone else's affairs, "Including Stanley, that self-righteous man. You were able to use even the professors from my dance academy to destroy me back then. Now, what do you want? Tell me, in this entertainment industry, can you destroy me, or can I destroy your daughter? Or perhaps you should set this cafe on fire again and see if I die? Your methods of committing crimes over the years are just like they were back then. Trinity is so much like you, always resorting to those petty tricks."
As Linda calmed down, she sneered, "Jessica, are you sure you want to go against me?"
Jessica looked at her. "Do I have a choice?"
Linda's family background was not simple, as they were immigrants who returned from the United States to start a business. After marrying into the Jenner family, she had already controlled the main financial line of the Sunroy Group for over twenty years, essentially holding the fate of the Jenner family in her hands. While she appeared to be a simple socialite, she actually had all the financial power of the Jenner family. Moreover, her extramarital affairs with powerful and wealthy men over the years, each more influential and resourceful than the last, made Linda seem like a blood-sucking entity where none of the men could walk away unscathed.
Calling Linda the invisible wealthy giant of Xyleria was not an exaggeration.
Having money meant being able to handle things, and money was indeed all-powerful in certain aspects. If she wanted to destroy someone, to make someone disappear, it still wasn't that difficult.
Whether Jessica resisted or not, once news of her being alive was no longer a secret, Linda would not let her off easily.
In this case, it was better for Jessica to reveal her trump card, hold Linda by the throat, and tie her hands and feet. This would be true safety for Jessica.
However, of course, it wasn't absolute safety.
It was just a balance of power.
Meanwhile, in a nearby hotel, a group of media reporters were live-streaming the press conference of Four Seas Entertainment.
Trinity's contract with Four Seas Entertainment was expiring, her engagement with Keegan was called off, and it was a done deal. However, the incident about Jessica caught the media's attention more in the past few days.
As the press conference progressed, reporters swarmed around, pointing their cameras at Trinity, asking her views on the recent incident involving Jessica, questioning the meaning behind her two cold smiles, and inquiring if she had any evidence that Jessica was a third party.
Regardless of the content of today's press conference, the focus was on Trinity. Yet, every word from the media seemed to revolve around Jessica, as if Jessica's impending rise was already in effect.
Trinity remained silent, unable to control her expression, and left the scene with a cold face, holding the hem of her skirt.
