Chapter 59 You're Not Going to Invite Me Up?

Jessica finished filming early today and was back home by two in the afternoon.

Mackenzie called her to ask about the recent negative posts online and whether she had thought about buying a trending spot on social media to set the record straight.
Jessica didn't think there was any need to clarify things now. Hardly anyone was paying attention, and unless she became famous later, those past issues might resurface as ammunition for critics. At present, standing up to clarify things seemed just as fruitless.

Many situations aren't black and white, and holding onto the truth and innocence doesn't always vindicate grievances.

This is especially true in the entertainment industry, where the more you try to explain, the worse things get. People tend to believe what they want to believe, often ignoring the reality hidden beneath the surface.

After hanging up the phone and walking into her neighborhood, Jessica didn't pay much attention to the people and vehicles around her. Suddenly, she heard a car horn behind her. At first, she didn't give it much thought, but the horn sounded several more times. It seemed like the car was following her. Initially thinking that a vehicle was rushing to deal with an urgent matter and she was in its way, she instinctively moved aside while glancing back.

To her surprise, it was her car.

A white Audi stopped as she turned her head. Its window slowly rolled down to reveal a face that was not quite familiar but still somewhat memorable to her.

It was that kid who drove the Ferrari like it was a racecar that day on the highway!

"Hey there!" Nicholas greeted, casually resting one hand on the steering wheel. He turned his gaze towards her with a handsome lift of the eyebrows and flashed a bright smile. "We meet again!"

Seeing him, Jessica instinctively wanted to roll her eyes, but considering that her car had been repaired, she let it go. "Didn't you say someone else would bring my car back? Why did you bring it yourself?"

"Ah, my driver had an emergency and had to take off," Nicholas explained, nodding towards the passenger seat to invite her in.

Jessica turned her head and pointed her chin towards one of the few parking spaces inside the complex as if she hadn't seen the gesture. "Park it over there," she said, walking straight in that direction, showing no intention of getting into the car.

Nicholas didn't insist. He complied and drove over, parking neatly in the spot. Most neighborhoods had controlled access, and few cars could enter, but this older complex was more convenient, providing parking spaces inside.

After parking, Nicholas stepped out and tossed the keys to her.

Jessica caught them deftly and nodded in polite appreciation, "Thanks."

Leaning leisurely against her car door, Nicholas crossed his arms and watched her with a smile. "You're welcome. Want to check the car? I had them use the best paint to redo the entire thing so the color would be consistent. The damage at the back won't affect the overall look. I also made sure they..."

"That's not necessary," Jessica cut him off, clearly unimpressed. "It looks quite new. If there's nothing else, I should be going. You can leave now."
Nicholas raised an eyebrow as she turned to leave. "Miss Jenner, I personally brought your car back and even fixed up your Audi, which looked like a second-hand car. Aren't you going to invite me up?"

Jessica stopped in her tracks and looked at him sharply, without a hint of warmth, "You were completely at fault for the accident. I haven't even started on asking for compensation for my emotional distress and the time wasted, and you think fixing my car means I should invite you to my house?"
