Chapter 250 You Live on the Thirty-second Floor

Keegan paused as he raised his hand.

He couldn't stop the fire back then. How could he push her into the fire now?

Before Gabriel walked out of the crowd with Jessica in his arms, he deftly avoided Keegan's paused hand.

Mackenzie and Zoey had already rushed over. "Jessica?"

Gabriel glanced coldly at Jessica's two mostly useless agents and assistantsand said indifferently, "Stay and clean up the mess. I'll take her to the hospital."

At this moment, Jessica could barely hear the conversations around her. She frowned, her hand unconsciously gripping Gabriel's collar, her mouth moved slightly, producing a faint sound, "I'm... fine... Put me down."

Jessica struggled faintly in his arms, while Gabriel held her tighter and said in a deep voice as he walked out of the banquet hall, "Be good. Don't fuss."

Jessica didn't want to go to the hospital, but she didn't have the strength, not even to open her eyes. Her head rested on his shoulder, feeling Gabriel carrying her outside, surrounded by a familiar scent, until she was placed in the car, Gabriel's coat covering her.

In her daze, the sense of warmth and security was both familiar but terrifying. She feared sinking into it, but her body wouldn't allow her to think too much. She only felt Gabriel's hand on her forehead, checking her temperature, and then heard the car engine start.

It wasn't the first time Gabriel had personally taken her to the hospital.

But this time, Jessica didn't even have the strength to resist. After getting a fever-reducing shot and being observed in the hospital for a few hours, she was taken away, sleeping deeply after the shot, completely unaware of where she was taken.

When Jessica woke up again, it was almost dawn. The outside was already light, but the curtains were drawn, so she didn't know what time it was.

The room was pitch black, and the bedroom light was off, but she could clearly feel that this was an unfamiliar room.

She moved cautiously, and the body aches caused by high fever-induced coma were still very apparent. She guessed she might have caught the flu, considering she hadn't been feeling well the past few days, with poor resistance and always being around Danielle, it wasn't surprising they both got sick.

But where was this?

It didn't feel like a hotel.

She raised her hand and groped around, instinctively feeling the bedside, and then accidentally touched a switch for a sensor light, causing the bedside lamp to suddenly turn on.

The light from the lamp was soft, not harsh. By its light, she looked down and saw that her clothes had been changed into her usual home pajamas, but this was clearly not her usual bedroom at Blue Bay Apartments.

A few minutes after the light turned on, the bedroom door suddenly opened.

The tall, upright Gabriel came in, holding a glass with half a cup of warm water in one hand and fever-reducing and anti-inflammatory medicine in the other.

Seeing Gabriel, Jessica instinctively raised her hand to cover the collar of her pajamas. The bedroom was quiet, and outside was quiet, too, it didn't seem like there was a third person around. There was no doubt who had changed her clothes.

"The fever-reducing shot has worn off after six hours. The flu causes recurring high fever. Take the medicine first."

Gabriel came over, handing her the glass of water and bringing the medicine to her lips.

Jessica looked up at him, recalling what happened at the "Charles II" celebration banquet before she passed out.

When she turned on the bedside lamp, she had already half-sat up, now leaning weakly against the headboard. She didn't open her mouth to take the medicine, only looked around warily and asked, "Where is this?"

Her voice was hoarse as if she had swallowed a ton of sand.

Seeing her waking up with that stubborn attitude of keeping people at a distance, Gabriel didn't say much, directly bringing the pill to her lips. "Take the medicine first."

Jessica didn't want to mess with her health, knowing she couldn't avoid it, only glared at him displeased before opening her mouth to take the medicine. Gabriel handed her the glass, she took a few sips of water, then shook her head, indicating she couldn't drink anymore.

Gabriel placed the glass aside, checking her temperature with his hand on her forehead again. "Measure your temperature again after half an hour."

"Where is this?" Jessica seemed not to hear, only looking at him. "Is this where you usually live?"

"Yes."

"Then why..." She looked down at her pajamas in confusion. "Why are my pajamas here?"

Could Gabriel really have the power to retrieve things from a distance?

"I went downstairs to get a set while you were asleep."

"Downstairs?"

Jessica didn't react at first, then suddenly remembered the coincidences before, and remembered she had accidentally gone up to the thirty-second floor once.

Her expression froze. "You live on the thirty-second floor."

It wasn't a question, it was a statement.

Gabriel sat by the bed, looking at her, and replied calmly, "Now is not the time to discuss this."

Jessica was confused.

Then what should they discuss?

Would they discuss how he lived upstairs all this time but never told her?

Or how she never figured it out, being his neighbor for so long without realizing it.

Or discuss how Gabriel's public proposal to a small actress was shocking.

Jessica didn't want to talk to him at all, especially since this was their first meeting after she returned from Sunshine Bay City.

The last time they met was at that hotel in the eastern part of Sunshine Bay City.

Thinking about what she did out of impulse and emotion that night, she couldn't blush because of the fever, her eyes showed obvious avoidance.

The bedroom only had a bedside lamp on, under its soft light was Gabriel's handsome face, his eyes showed no avoidance, he was looking at her, very calmly, even intently.

"In the future, if there's any misunderstanding, make sure to ask first. You can have emotions, but I don't want any misunderstandings."

Gabriel said calmly.

"My parents have settled in Pearl Peak City for years. They have only two sons, but my mother always liked girls. Later, due to health reasons, she couldn't have more children. When they decided to stay in the Pearl Peak City over a decade ago, they adopted a young girl from an orphanage. That girl is now named Kimberly, with the last name Harriman, my nominal sister. She lives with my parents most of the time."

"Several months ago, I went back to Pearl Peak City to handle overseas business and took some time to visit my parents. It happened to be my nominal sister's birthday, and they wanted me to stay for dinner, which was indeed at dinner time, so I had no reason to refuse. I'm not close to Kimberly, but out of respect for my parents, I didn't reject it either. I don't remember when that photo was taken, but I'll be more cautious in the future to prevent such situations."
