Chapter 178 It's Probably the Dominant Dad's Aura Too Stable
Seeing her unfriendly demeanor, Gabriel raised an eyebrow coldly. "Unhappy about being pulled away from Keegan ?"
A huge misunderstanding!
"I'm not unhappy, but being dragged out of the banquet hall by you like a little chick, there's nothing to be happy about, right?" Jessica said while glancing at him again, muttering softly, "I am at least the future hall-level artist in Grandpa Harriman's eyes. Don't I have any dignity?"
Gabriel's eyes carried a hint of a smile. "An artist with an empty stomach?"
Jessica's eyebrows twitched, looking at him, not understanding Gabriel's meaning for a moment.
Suddenly, the two doors in front were opened, and Gabriel directly held her hand, which was still holding her skirt, and led her in.
Jessica instinctively looked inside and saw a very large and elegant guest banquet room. The round table in the middle was already filled with dazzling delicacies, and the mist on some of the seafood dishes indicated their high prices.
She especially enjoyed seeing several bottles of good domestic wine on the table, as well as quite a few foreign wines with prices that were absolutely jaw-dropping. At this moment, there were very meticulous servers coming in to serve.
As soon as the two entered, the gazes of the few people sitting at the table turned in their direction. The closest one stood up with a smile. "Mr. Harriman, we've been waiting for you!"
Looking further inside, Jessica's eyelids twitched.
No wonder she didn't see Tilans's F nationality CEO from the domestic branch and the several high-level executives from the Tilans company that she had heard of in the banquet hall earlier. Only a few people from the advertising department were entertaining below.
So these big shots were all here.
"I thought Mr. Harriman might not grace us with his presence tonight, but we actually managed to wait for him!"
"Mr. Harriman, please come and sit here!"
"Mr. Harriman, welcome."
Several people stood up respectfully and greeted politely, and the Tilans F nationality CEO, Gary Stewart, also stood up, saying a few words in French. Jessica understood it; it was a greeting to Gabriel and also included a greeting to Jessica, polite in the French manner.
Jessica had no idea there was such a grand setup inside, but since she was already inside, she quickly nodded and replied, "Bonjour."
Gary immediately smiled and asked in a not-very-fluent language, "Ms. Jenner understands French?"
"I only know some simple greetings, and I can't understand deeper conversations. Sorry," Jessica said while nodding to the other high-level Tilans executives. No matter the occasion, proper etiquette was always important.
After saying a few words to an assistant translator, Gary smiled and nodded, then kindly said to Jessica, "Since Ms. Jenner is here with Mr. Harriman, please have a seat. There is no need to be polite."
Didn't need to be polite mean she could sit at the same table with these big shots?
Suddenly, Gabriel's hand lightly patted her hand on the back as if to comfort her, and with a very natural movement, he said, "Sit."
Hiding her surprise, Jessica hesitated before approaching the table, unsure of which seat was the head spot. At this moment, Gabriel pulled out the chair beside her and gestured with his eyes for her to sit there. Jessica quickly sat down, then smiled at the people present. She had never expected to be brought from the lower banquet hall to this upper level, completely unprepared, relying on a bit of composure to keep herself from feeling too nervous.
Gabriel didn't choose to sit in the main seat inside but instead pulled out a chair next to her without any fuss and sat down beside her.
The waiters continued to serve dishes one after another while one waiter came over to hand Jessica a disinfectant towel.
Jessica took it and slowly wiped her hands while hearing Gabriel chatting with the others at the table about the rare gathering at the banquet tonight. It was clear that the people at the table were very polite and respectful towards Gabriel.
Perhaps Gabriel's aura was so stable that even Jessica, who was sitting next to him, suddenly felt the nervousness dissipate.
When the dishes were probably all served and the servers left and closed the door, the formal toasting ceremony of the big shots began.
Jessica's attention was focused on the table full of dishes, which was probably no different from the extremely limited and special supply she had mentioned before.
To eat or not to eat?
Everyone was toasting, but she didn't drink.
She was already sitting here, and she couldn't just watch, could she?
But could she really eat?
Jessica was caught in an endless loop of dilemma until a shrimp was suddenly placed in front of her, followed by other dishes, and then a small bowl of soup was placed in front of her. She suddenly turned her eyes to Gabriel, who was arranging the dishes for her as if no one else was around.
"Hey, Gabriel, are you turning to me to serve the dishes because you're afraid I'm not eye-catching enough?"
"Haven't eaten all day?" Gabriel remained indifferent, giving her a look that urged her to eat quickly.
How did he know that? Did he witness her sneaking cake at the dessert table?
What could be more embarrassing than that?
Just eat.
Jessica picked up the utensils in front of everyone, started eating gracefully, and even took a sip of the soup that Gabriel had served her.
Delicious!
Oh, the earthly delicacies!
This was even more delicious!
Oh, my goodness, delicious!
Upon seeing Jessica go from cautiously picking up her forks to having a sparkle in her eyes and then unable to resist licking the corner of her mouth, Gabriel's eyes held a hint of amusement. It was as if the cold and displeased demeanor from the banquet hall had never appeared on him. With a light and breezy glance, he clinked glasses with a certain high-level Tilans executive who was toasting to him.
The people at the table were all worldly-wise, and most of them just silently noted Gabriel and Jessica's scene in their hearts. Knowing that Jessica belonged to Gabriel, they didn't show any surprised expressions on their faces. Not only did they not interrupt the toast, but they also occasionally exchanged pleasantries with Jessica, allowing her to eat to her heart's content.
Jessica wasn't someone who didn't know the difference between occasions. She was indeed hungry, but not to the point of being indiscreet.
She had originally thought of just tasting these delicacies.
But Gabriel's casual serving of dishes to her was too frequent, to the point where she ended up feeling a bit bloated.
She quickly tugged at his sleeve under the table and whispered, "I'm going to burp if I eat more."
Gabriel turned to see her lightly placing her hand on her stomach, a complex expression of not wanting to embarrass herself as the future top-tier artist. His clear eyebrows raised. "Full?"
Jessica nodded very sincerely.
Gabriel didn't serve her more dishes but directly picked up the bowl of soup she had eaten half of and elegantly took a sip.
Jessica fell silent.
