Gabriel smiled, helped them bring the luggage inside, and then came out. Jessica was negotiating with the director's team. Marshall mentioned that their tent would only be available in the evening, but Jessica wanted to store the luggage and prepare a space for proper rest in advance. After some "reasoning" from Jessica, Marshall had the team bring the tent over.
Initially, they thought it would be a small tent, but fortunately, it was spacious enough and even had a foldable bed that could fit two people.
However, Jessica was instantly speechless.
The tent wasn't fully enclosed; the surroundings were made of semi-transparent mosquito-proof netting, with a top cover to block the sun or rain, but there was no privacy at all.
This meant that tonight, she and Gabriel would be under the camera's watch the entire time, with no private space.
"Director, isn't it a bit too much to be filmed while sleeping at night?" Jessica twitched her mouth.
"There is another tent, but it's smaller. Although it has privacy, it gets stuffy at night. At least this one has natural ventilation and won't be too hot," Marshall pointed to another small tent. "You can choose which one you want."
Jessica looked at the tent; it was indeed just an ordinary small tent like the ones used for picnics, with good shading but poor ventilation.
Anyway, they had to sleep with clothes on at night since it was a show, and there was no truly private space. Even in a regular room, there were cameras in the corners, and not just one.
Gabriel came over, glanced at the tents, and picked up the larger one next to Jessica. "Let's go with this one."
Since Gabriel made the same choice, Jessica didn't continue to negotiate with Marshall. She turned and followed him until Gabriel found a shaded spot under a row of bamboo trees near the wall in the courtyard. It was slightly cooler there, and without much discussion, they started setting up the tent together.
But it was mostly Gabriel doing the work. When Jessica tried to help, he just asked her to hold some small tools or get an umbrella for herself.
Jessica didn't get the umbrella; she just moved back and forth around the tent, fetching things. Gabriel didn't ask Marshall for any auxiliary tools or seek help from the show's staff. Without a word of complaint or any extra talk, he quickly set up the tent.
Although the tent looked new, Jessica quickly grabbed various disinfectant wipes and clean towels to wipe it down inside thoroughly. She then laid two moisture-proof mats inside. The tent was indeed very cool inside. She sat on the mat, looking satisfied, and said, "It's really cool in here. Come in and try it."
Gabriel was still securing one corner of the tent to prevent it from being blown away by the wind at night. He looked at Jessica through the semi-transparent netting, seeing her sitting cross-legged on the mat, satisfied. If it weren't for the cameras around, she might have been even more pleased and rolled around like Danielle.
Gabriel then turned to Marshall and asked, "Will the cameras keep filming inside at night?"
Suddenly being asked by Gabriel, Marshall was taken aback, cleared his throat, and said, "Yes, they will. I hope Mr. Harriman doesn't mind. The effect of this couple's reality show is to capture a more natural way of interacting."
