Chapter 708 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 193

"Thanks, Mr. Harriman!" Clayton hopped into the car and grabbed the water, hinting, "Mr. Harriman, I'm sticking with you these next few days. Just don't let us starve, okay? A meal here and there will do!"

Seeing Clayton act like Brent's sidekick, Gabriel didn't just glance at him through the rearview mirror; he turned around and gave Clayton a look.

It was as if he was saying, "You're talking nonsense."

Feeling the weight of that look, Clayton quickly handed all the water bottles to his wife, Cindy, and Jessica.

"Just zip it, will you? The game rules are clear. You got so many votes back then. If the suspicion had been spread out a bit more, maybe Mr. Harriman wouldn't have won," Cindy nudged Clayton, telling him to talk less.

Clayton immediately responded, "Even if most of the votes weren't for me, I doubt anyone would have voted for Mr. Harriman. No one expected Mr. Harriman to go along with Marshall's script."

Gabriel had already fastened his seatbelt. Hearing this, he glanced at Clayton through the rearview mirror and chuckled, "If I had refused to come on the show, of course, I wouldn't have played along. But since I'm here, I have to participate. We all signed contracts with the production team. For the sake of the show's appeal, we have to do what they ask."

"That's different. Mr. Harriman, you're the big boss here. It takes guts to throw a script at you," Clayton was still caught up in the case from this morning. It was unclear whether he was upset about the budget or frustrated that he hadn't figured out who the culprit was. Either way, he seemed excited, as if he was looking forward to the next game and determined to play it well.

Jessica watched as Clayton and Gabriel chatted back and forth. Although Clayton talked a bit too much, Gabriel didn't seem annoyed. He just smiled occasionally, engaging when he wanted to and staying silent when he didn't.

Meanwhile, Cindy held Jessica's hand, and they looked at the task guide the production team had left in the car.

Jessica's mind wandered as she listened to Clayton. She remembered Mackenzie showing her some of the production team's plans a few days ago.

Originally, there wasn't supposed to be this impromptu script today. It was supposed to be another game, something like an escape room adventure. The forest park they were heading to was the biggest and most popular tourist spot in the country, with many large venues and amusement facilities. The escape room activities included some risky elements.

Though risky, they weren't life-threatening, but many of the activities involved intense physical exertion.

Jessica wondered how Marshall had negotiated this sudden change, even assigning the script to Gabriel.

Thinking about Gabriel taking on the role of the culprit and playing along for this, Jessica understood.

Gabriel was supporting her desire to complete the entire show, but he was also protecting her, ensuring she didn't face any unforeseen harm.

For a moment, Jessica felt conflicted.

Insisting on finishing all twelve episodes was indeed a way to repay Marshall for his past help and to keep her promise.

But Gabriel had been worrying about her and their unborn child throughout this journey.
