Chapter 124 Here

Jessica unexpectedly entered the elevator, almost bumping her nose into Gabriel's back. She quickly steadied herself and then looked up at Gabriel who was much taller than her. The spacious and bright elevator seemed to be filled with the fresh scent that belonged solely to Gabriel.
She moved a bit to the side and scanned the elevator before asking, "This place seems to be very close to your company, is this your home?"
Gabriel lowered his gaze to look at her.
The expression on Jessica's face almost spelled out' You, this malicious man, actually brought me to your home with ill intentions. I never thought you would really have ulterior motives towards me.' But because he was no longer Spencer, but Gabriel, she held back and didn't say it.
However, the caution on her face was quite evident.
"What do you think?" Gabriel looked straight at her.
Jessica blinked at him for a while, their eyes meeting. Suddenly, she averted her gaze, stood properly by his side, and said, "I'm not so broke that I can't even afford a hotel. The price of hotels around here for a night should be acceptable. I'll go to a hotel!"
Before she could finish speaking, the elevator stopped on the 31st floor. Gabriel directly took her luggage and walked out, clearly not paying attention to what she had just said.
Jessica trudged along, her mind consumed with thoughts of what she would do if Gabriel actually invited her to stay at his place—should she demand that he take the sofa while she slept there, or should she take the sofa herself?
Alternatively, his residence is likely spacious enough to accommodate additional beds.
It might not sit right for her to crash at his place.
Back then, he was injured and she had no choice but to take him in. It was completely different from the current situation!
As a CEO who sponsored a small star, she had heard of such situations before. For a moment, Jessica's steps became heavier, and she was too preoccupied to notice her surroundings or the fact that this floor only had one apartment.
It wasn't until Gabriel unlocked the door with a passcode and let her in that Jessica nervously peeked inside.
The Nordic-style decoration inside was clean and simple, with shades of blue, gray, and white as the main colors. All the furniture looked brand new as if no one had ever lived there. The room was regularly cleaned and well-maintained, with two pairs of new slippers placed on the doormat, still in their plastic packaging.
She was stunned. Wasn't this supposed to be where he lived?
Jessica turned to Gabriel, who was standing outside the door seemingly not intending to come in, and asked, "Is this the place?"
Gabriel casually pushed her luggage inside.
It was late, and she, indeed, needed to rest early. Gabriel didn't enter but stood outside with his hand in his pocket, saying, "The door code is the last six digits of your phone number. You can change the code anytime. Remember to set up a fingerprint lock tomorrow. Rest early."
Jessica stared blankly at Gabriel as he seemed ready to leave after speaking. Without thinking, she asked, "Can I really stay here?"
She hadn't thought it through. With such a large apartment in a place like Blue Bay Apartments, could she really stay here? Just like that, suddenly move in?
Gabriel glanced back at her and said, "No cockroaches, feel free to stay."
With that, he walked straight into the elevator.
Jessica was speechless.
The sound of the elevator doors closing behind her was quiet. Jessica stood there, hesitating to enter, unaware that the elevator not far behind her had only gone up one floor.
Well, it was already late. Jessica might as well make the best of it.
She entered, shutting the door and taking in the lit room. The living room boasted a vast floor-to-ceiling window, revealing Xyleria's bustling cityscape. As Jessica pulled her luggage in, the apartment's spaciousness struck her, likely exceeding five thousand square feet. The rooms were well arranged, with two main bedrooms, five guest rooms, a study, a walk-in closet, and a gym. The size of the main bedroom alone was impressive, with a bathroom larger than the one in her own bedroom.
Although the apartment seemed untouched, it was not only clean but also equipped with many essentials, from slippers to thin blankets. Even the bathroom toiletries were new, and the kitchen utensils were complete.
Jessica looked at the two double-door refrigerators, walked over, and opened them. They were filled with fruits and vegetables, as well as a variety of frozen meats.
It didn't seem like a last-minute decision to have her come over to stay. It was as if everything had been prepared in advance.
She had accidentally sent the wrong message to him on WhatsApp before.
Jessica stood in the kitchen, looking at the full fridge. Initially, she had planned to stay for one night and then find another place. But now, she couldn't help but feel grateful.
After all, Gabriel wasn’t just from an ordinary family with a house and a car. As the head of the Harriman Group, his wealth was constantly changing every second, probably increasing more in a second than what she earned from painstakingly completing a TV series. The exact figures were hard to estimate.
This kind of apartment in the city center would likely be a stretch for her unless she skyrocketed to fame in her industry, landed high-end endorsements, and could afford it a few years down the line. However, for him, it might just be a small part of his real estate portfolio.
What Gabriel said was right. It was a favor for saving his life. She didn't want money, she didn't want things. When she couldn't find a better place to stay, arranging a place for her to live was only natural.
And it was just temporary. Once Jessica found a suitable place, she could move out anytime.
Jessica stood in front of the refrigerator, gazing for a while before finally mustering the mental preparation, and with a clear conscience, she took out a banana from inside. She walked out of the kitchen, glanced at the two bedrooms, chose one she liked, finished the banana, and dragged her luggage inside.
After unpacking and taking a shower in the master bedroom, it was almost midnight. Jessica lay back on the bed, feeling exhausted.
She had only taken a quick shower in the bathroom earlier because it was too late. The large jacuzzi bathtub had been tempting her the whole time. She promised herself she would soak in it tomorrow night!
Just as she was about to sleep, she remembered her phone needed charging. She quickly got up, took out the charging cable from her luggage, and then picked up her phone. That's when she noticed Gabriel had sent her a WhatsApp message.
Gabriel: [Good night.]
The message was sent over an hour ago when she was busy unpacking her clothes and hanging them in the master bedroom closet, so she hadn't checked her phone.
Jessica held her phone, looking at those two words. The strong drowsiness she felt just a moment ago suddenly dissipated halfway, replaced by a warm feeling rising in her heart.
