Chapter 562 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 47
Amy noticed Kevin's movements and glanced at him, thinking he was annoyed by her constant complaints. But when she saw that Kevin didn't seem to mind, she breathed a sigh of relief and stopped grumbling.
The others stayed quiet until Jessica turned to Amy with a smile and said, "It's not just under a hundred bucks. Right now, it's fifty bucks per person, and the director doesn't seem like he's gonna give us any more budget."
Seeing Jessica speak up, the other guests nodded in agreement. Lester chimed in, "Exactly! I've heard from friends in the industry that being on Marshall's shows means tightening your belt. Looks like they were right."
Rachel added, "The problem isn't just earning the budget ourselves. We need tasks we can actually do. Planting trees, digging trenches, or selling stuff, sure, we can handle that. But tapping rubber? I've never even seen it done. How are we supposed to manage that?"
Marshall, unfazed by the complaints, smiled and spoke through a megaphone, "Don't worry. There will be professional rubber tappers with you in the forest, teaching you step by step. You just need to make sure you earn enough before sunset. It's simple."
Melissa asked in surprise, "Aren't we heading to Majestic City tomorrow afternoon? What are we doing in the morning and at noon?"
"Of course, there will be tasks for tomorrow as well," Marshall replied with a grin.
Melissa was speechless.
Brent teased her, "Come on, you knew there'd be challenges on a show like this. It's just one task today, and you're already struggling? Want me to handle your share?"
Melissa shot him a look and grabbed a rubber bowl defiantly, "Who needs your help? I can do it myself."
In reality, they didn't need to grab the bowls themselves; the rubber tappers would distribute them.
Jessica took her bowl and thanked the rubber tapper with a nod. Gabriel, though silent, also nodded politely.
The rubber tapper, who looked serious yet kind, wasn't particularly interested in the celebrities. He just did his job, explaining the safety precautions for the rubber forest in a heavily accented voice.
Everyone listened attentively, their initial reluctance turning into curiosity. The explanation took about ten minutes, and then they followed the director's instructions into the rubber forest.
Before entering, they had to change into boots. The production team had thoughtfully provided new ones.
Once inside, they saw rows of tall, straight rubber trees planted in perfect alignment. Even someone with OCD would feel a sense of calm here.
The rubber tapper handed out small buckets and demonstrated the process in front of a rubber tree. He showed them how to peel off the solidified rubber layer and how to tap the rubber. Everyone watched closely, with Melissa and Amy snapping photos on their phones.
The anticipation of a hard day's work seemed less daunting, replaced by curiosity and excitement.
"Just like this, let it flow slowly. Once the bucket is full, switch to the next one. Also, be mindful of the heat and the mosquitoes in the forest. Wear gloves and sleeves to protect yourselves," the rubber tapper instructed before leaving them to their task.
