Before Gabriel could say anything, Clayton jumped in, "Hey boss, I'm not just hanging out today. I gotta work for you too. Need to earn some cash back."
Clayton was direct.
Gabriel had already figured that out.
"No need, when we get to the stables, we'll cover whatever's missing," Jessica said. She wasn't one to pinch pennies, especially when filming with colleagues. She liked everyone to be happy.
"No way, we lost the detective task fair and square. We're already teaming up with Mr. Harriman and Ms. Jenner, but we still need to follow the expense rules. So, we'll earn it through hard work. Next time there's a task or game, Cindy and I will cover for you two," Clayton said, patting his chest.
Jessica wanted to say it wasn't necessary, but seeing Clayton's insistence and Cindy's agreement, she hesitated and looked at Gabriel.
Gabriel glanced at Clayton's determined expression and slowly said, "Alright."
Clayton could sense the respect and care in Gabriel's calm words, something only men could understand. He laughed and, feeling comfortable with everyone after these days together, bumped shoulders with Gabriel like a good friend.
Gabriel glanced at him, smiled indifferently, and was about to head towards the stables when Clayton and Cindy quickly rushed forward. "Mr. Harriman, you and Jessica stand under that umbrella. The line to the stables is too long, we'll queue up for you!"
Suddenly pushed under the umbrella by Clayton and Cindy, Jessica was helpless.
She looked at the enthusiastic couple, wondering if she was here to film a show or to be pampered.
Jessica was about to discuss with Gabriel to tell them not to be so polite, but Gabriel casually grabbed a folding chair from the staff and placed it behind her, gesturing for her to sit under the umbrella.
"It's just queuing, we can do it too," Jessica said, but under Gabriel's gaze, she instinctively sat down, enjoying the cool shade and letting out a long breath. She then looked towards the line.
"I'll go with them, you stay here and wait," Gabriel said, not really intending to let Clayton and Cindy queue for them.
Jessica stayed seated, taking the bottle of water Gabriel handed her. She looked up at him, standing under the umbrella, blocking the harsh sunlight for her.
"Don't let Clayton and Cindy do all the work. Cindy always takes care of me, and I think..." She hesitated, glancing at Cindy and Clayton already in line, and whispered, "I think Cindy might have figured out my situation, but she hasn't said anything."
Gabriel acknowledged with a simple "Hmm" and turned to leave.
Jessica stayed under the umbrella, enjoying the shade. The park was crowded, and the show hadn't cleared the area for filming. They had already encountered several fans, and now there were still people nearby occasionally recording videos or taking photos.
She figured their conversation had probably been captured too.
Jessica suddenly felt that Gabriel's decision to publicly announce their relationship, along with Danielle's presence, had actually solved many subsequent issues.
