Chapter 115 Fire Attack and Water Attack
Jessica raised her eyebrows and unceremoniously brought the pineapple to his mouth because Gabriel was looking down at his phone. She had to lean forward slightly over the table in front of him in an awkward position to feed him.
Gabriel glanced at his emails, not yet taking the pineapple she offered. At that moment, his gaze lingered on her.
"Eat." Jessica didn't understand why he suddenly stared at her instead of looking at his phone or eating the pineapple. Why was he staring at her like that?
Her reflection was in Gabriel's brown pupils, and Jessica's eyes collided with his unreadable gaze.
It wasn't until she suddenly realized something under his silent yet compelling gaze.
She quickly looked down at her clothes.
Usually, for convenience in changing outfits, the clothes she prepared on the set were mostly loose-fitting styles. The one she was wearing today was no exception.
Very! Loose!
At this moment, leaning half over the table, the neckline of her outfit, which was already open to the collarbone, was even wider open.
This wasn't just feeding fruit; this posture could be described as a blatant seduction!
Jessica quickly raised her hand to cover the fabric at her chest.
At the moment, she was about to withdraw her hand and move back, Gabriel took a bite of the pineapple she had just brought to his mouth. His gaze remained indifferent as he looked at Jessica, who was now stepping back in panic, covering her chest. His eyes held a touch of darkness, his brow subtly twitching from the pineapple's sourness. Jessica immediately dropped the fork in her hand, surprised to see him calmly eat the pineapple. She asked in amazement, "Isn't it sour for you?"
Gabriel's phone rang again, and he glanced at it lightly before standing up.
As the tall and straight figure of Gabriel suddenly stood up, Jessica's gaze subconsciously followed.
Gabriel's handsome features became even more distinct under the decorative light on the dining table. The buttons of his black coat were unbuttoned, revealing a bit of his collarbone. Clearly an elite in society, he now exuded a mysterious sense of sensuality in his restrained demeanor.
"Very sweet." Gabriel's voice, seemingly coming from the depths of his throat, was indifferent as he walked out while leaving behind the words. "There's an urgent matter at the company that needs my attention. I have to leave. You can keep the pineapple for yourself."
Jessica was momentarily unsure whether to taste the other pieces of pineapple to see if they were really not sour, be glad that he didn't intend to stay, or perhaps go and see him off first.
By the time she regained her senses, she ruthlessly picked up another piece of pineapple with her fork and stuffed it into her mouth, not even bothering to watch the departing figure of the wealthy man she had relied on.
Even more sour than the piece she had just eaten!
"Why were you suddenly called to the police station to make a statement about the last cross-river bridge accident? Hasn't there already been someone investigating it? And the driver who caused the accident is still unconscious. Why did they only summon you alone?" Zoey parked Jessica's car at the police station and, looking outside, asked in confusion.
"This is a police station, not somewhere else. I'm a victim; they can't do anything to me by calling me here." Jessica gave Zoey a reassuring look before getting out of the car.
Zoey had no choice but to wait in the car for her. Jessica didn't have many scenes in the afternoon, and the two-hour gap wouldn't delay anything.
After entering the police station and reporting her name and purpose, Jessica also asked the same question as Zoey, why she was suddenly called back to make a statement when the matter had already been investigated.
The police officer at the reception area was an older man with a beer belly sitting there. Knight lowered his voice and said, "We recently had a new arrival at our station."
Knight continued in a hushed tone, "She's a woman who just returned from the FBI. She's not very old, but she has a lot of experience and skills. She solved so many long-standing cases within a week. Who knows whether she's interested in your accident case and suddenly wants to investigate it? She wants you to come in person."
Upon hearing the keywords 'woman' and 'FBI,' Jessica first looked puzzled, then glanced towards the spacious interrogation room, trying to suppress the smile that was about to appear on her lips, and asked, "The person you mentioned, is her last name Young?"
Knight was surprised. "Do you know her?"
Jessica composed herself and smiled. "I don't know her personally, but I've heard of her reputation."
"You're an actress, not involved in the detective field. Where did you hear about her reputation?" he asked.
Jessica didn't answer, just glanced at the time and said, "I'll go in now, okay?"
"Sure, go ahead."
Jessica walked to the door of the interrogation room, knocked, and heard a cold female voice from inside, "Come in."
She pushed the door open, first seeing the two police officers she had met before sitting inside.
Jessica nodded at them, then looked further inside and saw a young woman in a police uniform of the same color as theirs, with neat and handsome short hair.
Seeing Jessica enter, Ms. Young, with short hair, gave her a brief and faint glance before gesturing with her eyes for Jessica to sit down.
The two police officers introduced first, "Ms. Jenner,, this is Ms. Young, who recently joined our station and is in charge of criminal investigations. Due to the multiple pieces of evidence received regarding your accident case suggesting a possible connection to a criminal offense, Ms. Young intends to investigate. Please cooperate with us to redo the statement."
"Okay."
It wasn't until Jessica recounted the events of the day of the accident, including some details at the hospital, that Ms. Young took the transcript the other officers had prepared, glanced at it, and in a very calm and cold tone said, "You two, leave."
The two officers, who were clearly older than Ms. Young , were respectful and polite, and they left directly.
The surroundings fell silent, and Jessica stared directly at Mrs. Young, who was looking at the transcript. When Ms. Young put down the document and suddenly stood up, walking towards her, Jessica was about to stand up, but she had already reached her side and said lightly, "Trinity still hasn't let you go?"
Without answering, Jessica asked in return, "When did you come back to Xyleria? Why couldn't they keep you there? Why did you suddenly return to the country?"
Ms. Young looked down at her, and Jessica looked up at her, the two of them sitting and standing, staring at each other for a while.
Jessica's neck felt stiff, maintaining a neutral expression. "Cynthia, do we have to be so serious here?"
Cynthia remained expressionless. "There are surveillance cameras all around. Do you expect us to be all smiles here?"
Jessica continued with a neutral expression. "It's not like you smiled at me a few times during your years in Country M. Since we became best friends, my life has become so icy."
Cynthia remained expressionless. "For someone who survived a fire and water attack from Trinity and is still alive, are you talking to me about being icy?"
Jessica was speechless.
