Chapter 232 Ahhh, sleep! Go to sleep!
Chapter 232 Sleep! Go to Sleep!
Jessica was utterly exhausted.
Even though she was on her period and hadn't done much, she ended up getting soaked by the bathwater. She was so tired that she didn't even want to lift a finger, leaning limply against Gabriel without any regard for her image. Gabriel carried her out of the bathroom after cleaning her up.
As she was being carried out, Jessica couldn't help but worry about whether her sanitary pad was secure enough to avoid any embarrassing mishaps on his clothes or the bed. Her face showed a mix of fatigue and the awkwardness of her period.
But she completely overlooked how irresistible she looked at that moment. With a face that had always made Trinity envious since childhood, it was naturally stunning.
Gabriel had just given her a quick bath, and now she smelled of the same body wash as him. Her slightly damp long hair fell smoothly over her shoulders, with the ends slightly curled.
She had a perfect blend of girlish charm and womanly allure.
Half-asleep, she was carried to the bed, and as soon as she turned over, Gabriel held her in his arms. She didn't push him away and fell asleep just like that.
However, she suddenly woke up in the middle of the night.
Gabriel was holding her in the dark room, her head resting on his arm. She had slept for about four or five hours. It was past 4 AM, and in winter, it would be at least two more hours before dawn.
Although Gabriel had been full of energy before bed, he had also had some spiked drinks yesterday. Once asleep, his breathing was long and even, and he rarely woke up so early.
Jessica carefully got up, put her clothes back on, grabbed a can of coffee from the room, and sat by the window looking out.
"Jessica, do you want to step into my world?"
"Do you want to give it a try with me?"
Gabriel had said those two sentences.
At that time, her mind was a mess, and she didn't have time to think. After he kissed her again, she didn't even have a chance to respond.
The outside was silent. She had heard that it might snow in Xyleria this year, but she didn't know when. She wondered if she could see the rare sight of snow in Sunshine Bay City.
The coffee was at room temperature, neither cold nor hot, just enough to stimulate her taste buds. Although she knew it was best not to drink it during her period, she took a couple of sips before putting the cup down.
She got up, straightened Gabriel's jacket that she had messed up, placed it on the sofa, and then quietly left the room, carefully closing the door behind her.
It was impossible not to be moved by someone as outstanding as Gabriel. Cynthia had seen through her long ago, so how could she not understand herself?
Did you want to step into his world?
Yes.
Did you want to give it a try with him?
Yes.
But she needed to sort out her life first and go back to Xyleria to have a proper discussion with little Danielle about the issue of her father.
The next day, the "Sweet Ferris Wheel" crew finished their scenes in Sunshine Bay City and headed back to Xyleria overnight to prepare for the first day's shoot.
Filming modern dramas wasn't as challenging as period pieces. There was no need to set up special studios or prepare extensive green screens for special effects.
They just needed to clear out some specific locations, shoot the scenes, and then leave.
Gabriel was in a meeting at the East Tower in Sunshine Bay City when he suddenly received a WhatsApp message from Jessica, who was on her way back to Xyleria with the crew.
Jessica: [The crew is heading back to Xyleria for filming. We're driving back overnight. I forgot to tell you, so I'll be in Xyleria with Danielle for now. See you later.]
Gabriel: [Alright, stay safe.]
Jessica: [Okay.]
Gabriel didn't reply again.
That day, when Jessica left the hotel without saying goodbye, Gabriel didn't ask much. It seemed like he had a thorough understanding of everything, knowing she needed time. Besides, Sunshine Bay City wasn't exactly the best place for a romantic commitment, so he didn't press her.
Jessica closed her eyes and leaned back in the car, trying to get some sleep. They would arrive in Xyleria during the late hours of the night, and even if she went straight back to Blue Bay Apartments, the back-and-forth would prevent her from resting well. She had to get up early to shoot in Xyleria, so she wanted to seize this opportunity to get some sleep.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, her phone buzzed. She opened her eyes slightly and glanced at the phone resting on her.
Gabriel: [How many days?]
Jessica was confused.
How many days for what?
She didn't reply immediately, just stared at those two words. Slowly, she realized he was asking how many days her period would last.
Jessica was instantly wide awake.
Why was he asking about her period?
The last time was a special and urgent situation. She had sacrificed herself for the greater good, even though it didn't go as planned, at least she had tried!
It had left her so weak that she could barely hold the script the next day.
Jessica refused to admit that her face was now flushed and her heart was racing. She decided that once she got back to Xyleria and reached Blue Bay Apartments, the first thing she would do was to change the fingerprint lock code to something Gabriel didn't know!
She looked at the WhatsApp message again, decided to ignore it, and tossed her phone aside, intending to go back to sleep.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed again. Jessica didn't plan to check it, but Mackenzie and Zoey, sitting next to her, looked at her curiously.
Zoey said, "Jessica, why is your face so red?"
She even touched Jessica's forehead, worried she might have a fever.
Jessica quickly turned her head away. "Don't touch me, maybe it's just stuffy in the car."
Upon saying that Jessica hurriedly picked up her phone and glanced at it again.
Mackenzie, sitting beside her, noticed Jessica's lovestruck expression and raised an eyebrow knowingly.
Jessica opened her phone and saw Gabriel's name in the WhatsApp notification bar.
Gabriel: [Eh]
Just one word, without any punctuation.
Jessica could almost instantly imagine Gabriel's expression, as if he had seen right through her.
She held her phone, thinking she wasn't one to back down. It was just a question about her period; they were both adults. What couldn't be answered?
Jessica replied directly.
Jessica: [Five days.]
After a moment's hesitation, she decided to go on the offensive.
Jessica: [It's so late, and you're still having meetings in Sunshine Bay City. Are you that busy? How long will you be in Sunshine Bay City? When are you coming back to Xyleria?]
Gabriel was probably busy, as it took him a while to reply.
Gabriel: [I'll be back in five days.]
He only answered her last question.
Jessica looked at her message saying 'five days' and then at his reply-in five days.
Gabriel, your intentions weretoo obvious!
This conversation was over!
Jessica felt her phone was burning in her hand and tossed it aside. She turned and leaned against the seat, pulling a jacket over her head to try to sleep.
But as soon as she closed her eyes, all she could think about was the sentence 'in five days' and the scene in the hotel bathroom in Sunshine Bay City.
What was she thinking?
Sleep! Just sleep!
