Chapter 429 With the Rest of My Life

How could it be him? Seriously, it was hard to believe she was the one who met Gabriel back then.

No wonder he mentioned that spot in his office.

What was Gabriel feeling after that night seven years ago?

Did he really say he wanted to skin her alive?

Jessica sat on the edge of the bathtub, laughing so hard she almost lost it.

She laughed so much that Gabriel heard her. He walked to the bathroom door and knocked, probably wondering if she was in trouble or if she was laughing so hard her jaw might fall off.

Jessica forced herself to stop laughing. Her heart, weighed down by imaginary burdens, felt like it was soaring. She needed to get a grip, or she'd look like a total idiot grinning in front of Gabriel.

After "calming down" in the bathroom for a while, Jessica got up and washed her face. Once the wetness around her eyes and face wasn't obvious anymore, she wiped her face and hurried out.

The bed in the guest room at Seraphina's house clearly hadn't been slept in. The pillows and sheets were new, and the blanket was still in the closet.

Gabriel took out the blanket and placed it on the bed. Jessica, now composed, walked in and saw Gabriel naturally making the bed in the middle of the night. Her gaze drifted to the window.

It was almost midnight, and they were already married. It was only natural for a legally married couple to sleep together.

Thinking about what Gabriel said today about missing their wedding night last night...

Jessica casually patted her face again, turned around, and silently put some distance between herself and the bed. The blush and heat that had just subsided on her face surged back up.

Making the bed seemed to stir her emotions, even though everything in this guest room was new and it developed out of her control.

After moving a bit further away, Jessica suddenly broke the atmosphere by asking, "Aren't you planning to take Danielle for a DNA test?"

Gabriel had already finished making the bed. He unbuttoned a few buttons on his shirt and looked at her, his brows slightly raised. "Is that necessary?"

Jessica awkwardly cleared her throat. "What if there's a mistake?"

Gabriel let out a chuckle, his eyes almost teasing, with a hint of warning. "Have you been with another man?"

Jessica replied, "No."

By this time, Gabriel had walked over to her. He seemed to notice for the first time that she had quietly moved so far from the bed. As he approached, he unbuttoned his shirt cuffs, until he was close enough to look down at Jessica, who was clearly a bit nervous and trying to make small talk but ended up making herself awkward.

He looked at her meaningfully, then at the bed he had just made, then back at her, smiling deeply. "Hiding so far away?"

Jessica said, "I'm not hiding. I was looking for something."

She quickly picked up her bag from the cabinet by the door, rummaged through it, and finally pulled out a tissue. She wiped her face, which was already dry, and then wiped the water droplets from her hairline.

Gabriel looked at her with clear eyes and a slight smile. After a moment, he said calmly, "The DNA test isn't a big deal, but when we get back to the Harriman family, there might be some verification process. Danielle is my daughter. There might be some old-school, shallow process of bringing her into the family, but acknowledging her, bringing her home, and giving her a normal family with both parents and relatives—that's necessary."

Return to the Harriman family?

Jessica couldn't help but wonder what kind of face Michael would make when he found out about all this.

"Including you, Mrs. Harriman." Gabriel leaned in as Jessica was lost in thought, pinning her against the cabinet and looking down at her. "The Harriman family doors are open for you. There are no obstacles you once thought existed, only a path welcoming you to walk in openly. We're married; you're my wife, and Danielle is my daughter. No one can change that."

Gabriel's voice was gentle yet clear. Jessica looked up into his close, dark eyes.

She relaxed completely, letting him pin her there, looking up at him. "Did you plan this all along? Saying you were visiting the set, but actually, you had already paved the way for me and Danielle, just waiting to bring me back to your side."

Gabriel chuckled, looking at her and slowly asked, "So, are you willing to come back, Jessica?"

Jessica raised an eyebrow. "Whether I'm willing or not, it turns out to be the same. You got me drunk, got me to say so much, and then took me to get the marriage certificate without giving me a chance to hesitate. How could I have known you were so cunning and acted so quickly?"

"I've missed too much. It would drive me mad to go on like this. My daughter, and her mother, whom I should have cherished and protected years ago, have been out for so long." Gabriel's warm eyes held hidden storms, as if storms were passing through, looking deeply into her eyes. "The moment I knew everything, I wanted to bring you back the next second. Every extra minute was torture."

This was probably the most romantic thing Jessica had ever heard Gabriel say, yet it wasn't just romantic words; every word was his true feelings.

He was a god in the eyes of others, difficult to approach. But in front of her, he was someone who wanted to make up for the lost years with her and Danielle. A man who held his heart and his grand, gentle love for her.

Jessica smiled with a tinge of sadness, nodding. "Thank you for always keeping me and Danielle in your heart."

Gabriel looked at her without reservation, leaned down to kiss her lips, and held her in his arms. As he kissed her, he whispered against her lips, "I'll make up for the proposal and wedding at the right time. And even everything that should have belonged to you originally. What I've missed, I'll make up for a hundredfold, a thousandfold. Mrs. Harriman, please give me a chance to be a husband and a father, to use the rest of my life to repay you for these seven years. Can you?"

If this wasn't a proposal, then what was?

Did it have to include a ring, flowers, cake, and romantic background music and atmosphere?

For someone as proud as Gabriel to stand in front of her and almost cautiously ask, "Can you?" Jessica's heart melted into a puddle. She couldn't say a word, only nodding without any hesitation.
