Chapter 149 Special Passage

Jessica fell silent. She had just come out to see Michael lounging on the recliner, intending to remind him to take care of his health.
Suddenly, she heard a vigorous shout.
Alright, she had underestimated Michael. In another ten years, Michael would still be lively enough to chase people down the street with a cane.
Before leaving the Harriman family in the afternoon, Michael had the servants bring Jessica a lot of delicious food, some of which were his usual supplements. He subtly reminded her that she was too thin. He suggested she should eat more to improve her health so she could get married early and have a chubby great-grandchild.
He also had the butler, Fred, take some of the novelty items brought by guests yesterday and give them to Jessica who had no intention of accepting them.
However, due to Michael's insistence and Gabriel's hint that Michael would keep nagging until nightfall if she didn't take them, she reluctantly accepted.
In the end, Gabriel's Bentley looked like it was filled with a carload of specialties.
As Jessica sat in the car, she occasionally glanced at the piled-up items in the back seat, feeling more and more festive.
"Has your car ever been filled with so many things before?"
She couldn't help but feel that stacking so much stuff on the car's leather seats was doing them a disservice.
"No."
"I was just putting on a show for Michael. I can't use all these things. Take them to the company and see what to do with them."
However, when Gabriel dropped her off at Blue Bay Apartments, he helped her bring all those things upstairs.
Jessica stood at the door, looking at the piled-up items, feeling bewildered.
She couldn't finish all the supplements Michael gave her, and as a young person, she definitely couldn't use them all. They all seemed particularly expensive, and she felt like even a simple soup made with them would be too much for her body to handle.
She couldn't just give away the things Michael gave her as a casual favor.
Well, maybe when Gabriel came over for a meal next time, she could make him some soup.
After all, they were all from the Harriman family.
That settled it!
Jessica's last scene in "Charles II" was a morning scene, and she needed to be on set before seven in the morning.
She had planned to drive there, but the night before, Mackenzie had some last-minute business at the set, and there was an issue with her car's tire, so Mackenzie took Jessica's car first.
Zoey and driver Maria, who was in charge of the nanny car, didn't know where Jessica currently lived, and Jessica hadn't mentioned it yet. So, she got up early, picked up her phone, and started calling for a ride.
After successfully ordering a ride, she put on her coat, grabbed the script, and went downstairs. Just as she reached the roadside, she suddenly saw a regular car parked there. As she approached, the car's hazard lights flashed, catching her attention.
The car looked familiar to her, and when Landon got out of the car, she wasn't surprised at all.
Jessica looked around and realized that the car she had booked was late and hadn't arrived yet.
"No need to look for it, Miss Jessica," Landon said as he stood by the car door. "I'll take you there."
Jessica looked at him in surprise. "How did you know I had called for a ride?"
Landon smiled faintly. "Mr. Harriman linked your phone number to our company's internal ride-hailing system. Whether it's for business or personal matters, the company usually uses the ride-hailing app internally to make reservations. I received a reservation under Mr. Harriman's name, but the phone number wasn't his. After checking the address, I guessed it was for you, so I came directly."
Jessica was puzzled but soon remembered her rather bizarre ride-hailing experience a few months ago.
So that's why the Rolls-Royce drove her. !
No wonder when she placed the order on her phone earlier, the page looked so high-end that she felt uncomfortable. It turned out she had entered their company's special booking channel.
With time running short, Jessica didn't refuse Landon's kindness and got into the car before asking, "Can my phone be unlinked? Otherwise, it will be inconvenient if I need to use a car in the future."
"There's no inconvenience. As long as Miss Jessica needs it, the company can send a car over. If I have time, I can come as well."
"How can that work? I'm not an employee of your company. And usually, if my car hasn't returned, I frequently take taxis or ride-hailing services, which would disrupt your company's normal car dispatching order. How can I unlink it? Can you teach me?" Jessica didn't want to bother him while driving but wanted to unlink it. She raised her phone to him at a red light intersection, asking for help.
"Although the linked phone number is yours, the registered name is Mr. Harriman himself. He granted you this permission, which may not be possible to cancel."
As Landon drove, Jessica stopped bothering him and pondered how to unlink it all the way. In the end, she found that unless she changed the ride-hailing platform or got a new phone number, there seemed to be no way to unlink it.
Because Gabriel's name was associated with her phone number, she didn't have the direct authority to unlink it herself unless Gabriel helped her.
She tapped the screen, gave up in the end, and asked, "So, the car I just called, it wouldn't be another Rolls-Royce or something similar, right?"
Landon chuckled. "Yes, or even a more high-end business car with excellent privacy and security."
"Why?"
Landon drove quietly, just smiling without giving a direct answer.
Jessica suddenly fell silent.
The answer was obvious.
Because the name displayed in their company's backstage employee identity survey system was—Gabriel.
Even though Gabriel usually had his own car or had an assistant responsible for driving the company's car, since his name was displayed, they couldn't afford to be negligent.
"If Miss Jessica wants something more convenient, you can call me directly next time," Landon said, "Although this car is ordinary, it's my personal car. It doesn't need to go through the company's internal system. When I'm not at the company, I usually drive this car, which is quite convenient."
Jessica felt embarrassed to trouble him and bypassed the topic, saying, "It's so early now. After you drop me off, it will be almost time for work. Haven't you had breakfast yet?"
"There's still time. I'll grab something at the employee cafeteria when I get back to the company."
Jessica didn't say much more. When the car passed by a breakfast café, she suddenly asked him to stop and wait for her for a few minutes.
It wasn't until she bought breakfast and a cup of milk and handed it to Landon in the car that Landon looked at her in surprise before quickly and politely accepting it. "Thank you, Miss Jessica."
Jessica also had a cup of milk in her hand. As she sat in the car, she drank and said, "Landon looks quite handsome when he smiles. Don't always be so serious. I have a girlfriend who works in law enforcement, and she always looks serious. It makes people feel distant. In fact, people like you, deep down, aren't as cold as you appear. If you keep looking serious, how can you find a girlfriend? Elites shouldn't turn themselves into lonely bachelors."
Landon almost choked on his milk.
