Chapter 433 Boss, Are You Sure There Won't Be a Fight

The car rolled up to the Harriman Estate, where everything inside looked just as it did before, as if time had stood still.

Jessica hopped out of the car and saw Seraphina holding Danielle's hand as they both stepped out. Danielle glanced around, wide-eyed, and whispered to Seraphina, "Great-grandma, what is this place?"

"This is a magical place where no one will ever bully you, and everyone will treat you like their most precious little gem," Seraphina said with a smile, giving Danielle's hand a gentle squeeze. "When you see that old man later, remember to do what great-grandma does and ignore him, make him feel awkward!"

"What does that mean?" Danielle asked, tilting her head to study Seraphina's face. She noticed great-grandma looked pretty stern and fierce, and said in surprise, "Is that what we're gonna do?"

"Yep, just like that. Make him feel awkward!"

"Okay." Danielle tried to mimic her, but after a bit, she looked embarrassed. "Great-grandma, I can't do it."

"If you can't, don't sweat it. Great-grandma's got your back! With me around, you're safe!" Seraphina patted Danielle's little hand and then turned to look at Jessica, who was trying hard not to laugh. "And Jessica, with me here, if that old man gives you any trouble, I'll handle him for you!"

"Thanks, Grandma," Jessica said with a smile.

Honestly, Michael had never really hurt her. The support he gave her back then, and the things he said, showed he was a funny and clear-headed guy. He just tried to talk her into things calmly and never bad-mouthed her.

Though he was a bit stubborn.

Seeing Seraphina's determined look, Jessica felt today's situation might be trickier than she thought.

Gabriel had just gotten out of the car when he got a WhatsApp message from Jessica.

Jessica was standing less than a foot away from him.

Jessica: [Boss, are you sure there won't be a fight later?]

Gabriel glanced at the message and then at Jessica, unable to hold back a smile.

He reached out and took her hand, leading her down the stone path towards the main hall of the estate. Seraphina and Danielle were already a bit ahead. He finally spoke, "There won't be a fight. And even if there is, it won't affect us. It's just between the two of them."

Jessica was surprised. "Did Grandpa and Grandma used to argue a lot?"

"Yep."

"What were their arguments like?"

Gabriel chuckled, like he was remembering something. "When they argued, it was wild. When they gave each other the silent treatment, they could go days without speaking."

Jessica was genuinely curious about how the two old folks could argue so intensely.

As they reached the main hall of the Harriman family estate, Fred had just brought over a blanket. Michael was sitting in a rocking chair with his eyes closed, his favorite radio behind him, though it wasn't playing anything at the moment. It was unclear if he was asleep or not.

Danielle followed Seraphina inside and saw the old man in the rocking chair from a distance. She couldn't see his face clearly from her angle and curiously peered in his direction.

Fred, still clutching the blanket, was momentarily taken aback to see Seraphina, who clearly had some kind of agenda. He then glanced at the calm Mr. Harriman and the long-absent Jessica, finally resting his gaze on the little girl holding Seraphina's hand.

"Mrs. Harriman," Fred quickly greeted Seraphina, his eyes softening as he looked at the woman he hadn't seen in nearly twenty years. Then he looked at Danielle. "Could this be..."

No one needed to answer. Fred's eyes were already locked on Danielle's little face, remembering the photo he had seen in Michael's album a few days ago.

This kid really did look a lot like Mr. Harriman when he was young.

Really alike.

The rumors and gossip that had been swirling around the past few days were well known to the Harriman family. Even though Michael had been so anxious that he had a sore throat and inflamed tonsils, Mr. Harriman had not given him any answers, only saying that he would bring the child back to see him in a couple of days. It had really driven Michael crazy.

Michael hadn't slept well the night before. His throat hurt, and he was trying to rest in the rocking chair. As they walked into the main hall, Michael's snoring started.

Hearing the snoring, Seraphina's face immediately turned more displeased as she glared at Michael.

Fred was surprised and whispered, "Oh dear, he's fallen asleep? He was just complaining about his sore throat and headache, and now he's really asleep."

Jessica noticed that Michael's snoring sounded a bit congested and asked Fred quietly, "What's wrong with Grandpa Harriman?"

"He was too anxious and left the window open while sleeping last night. He caught a cold."

Not surprisingly, it was still the same Michael. He seemed serious, but really not reliable.

Fred quickly stepped forward to cover Michael with the blanket.

Michael had been asleep, but suddenly feeling several pairs of eyes on him and being covered with a blanket, his snoring stopped. He frowned irritably, opened his eyes to look at Fred, and was about to close them again when he suddenly turned his head towards the door.

Seeing Seraphina's face, he thought he was still dreaming. How could the Seraphina in his dream have even whiter hair than before but still look so young?

It had been almost twenty years.

Of course, she had aged.

Michael closed his eyes again, wanting to sleep a bit more.

"Michael, Seraphina is back, along with Mr. Harriman and Miss Jenne and..." Fred glanced at Danielle, who was holding Seraphina's hand, and said softly, "and your great-granddaughter."

Michael's eyes snapped open again, and he turned his head towards the door, seeing the group standing there clearly, not like a dream.

Especially the white-haired Seraphina who was glaring at him coldly. Michael couldn't help but shiver. His eyes then fell on Gabriel and Jessica, and finally on the child.

Danielle tilted her head to look curiously at the old man in the rocking chair. She vaguely remembered seeing him once two years ago when she was four, but couldn't recall the location.
