Chapter 715 Sweet Extra - Couple Variety Show 200
It wasn't just the other guests who found it odd; even Jessica couldn't figure out what Gabriel was up to.
But the little foal was undeniably adorable.
Jessica stepped forward to stroke the foal's mane and casually grabbed some hay from the stable to feed it.
Her own horse, standing nearby, seemed either jealous or hungry, snorting discontentedly behind her. Jessica quickly turned around to feed it some hay as well.
Hugo asked, puzzled, "Gabriel, why'd you bring out the smallest horse? This foal isn't even fully grown yet. How's it supposed to race?"
"Gabriel, are you trying to go easy on us because we lost so badly this morning? But if you're gonna hold back, at least pick a better horse," Brent said, looking like he was ready to help Gabriel out by asking Kevin for the best horse. He turned and winked at Kevin.
Kevin glanced at Brent calmly, not giving him a chance to speak. He handed the reins to Amy, suggesting she join Jessica in feeding the horses.
Clearly rejecting Brent's offer, Kevin turned to leave, giving Brent the cold shoulder.
"Jessica, this foal is so cute. If it weren't for the competition, I would have picked it too," Amy said, after feeding her own horse. She then petted the foal Jessica was with and turned to Gabriel. "Gabriel, are you really giving us a chance?"
If he was, Amy felt a bit disappointed. She had been looking forward to seeing Kevin and Gabriel race. Kevin had acted in many films, both historical and modern, and was quite skilled at riding. She also knew that the Harriman family owned several horse farms. Michael Harriman, Gabriel's father, had loved chess and horseback riding in his youth, and had incorporated these interests into the Harriman Group, investing in many professional international horse farms. So Gabriel was definitely experienced.
"What? Afraid your Mr. Martinez won't win fair and square?" Gabriel handed the foal's reins to Jessica, letting her play with it, and walked over to Kevin. He patted the best horse and didn't hold back his praise. "Nice."
Amy, aware of the Harriman family's background, wasn't surprised.
Kevin, on the other hand, didn't know that the Harriman Group was involved in the horse farm business. But from Gabriel's brief comment, he got the gist.
"Gabriel, want to give it a try?" Kevin offered, handing over the reins since everyone was still getting familiar with their horses and the race hadn't officially started.
Gabriel smiled but didn't take the reins. Instead, he patted Kevin's horse again and said, "The one who'll beat you isn't me."
Kevin paused, then glanced at the white foal being petted by Jessica and Amy. After a few seconds of doubt, he figured out what was going on and laughed. "Alright, I'll be watching."
Brent and the others were also feeding their horses. The stable staff were introducing each horse by name and explaining their habits, while also teaching them how to put on the protective gear.
Soon, Marshall announced that they could start. Everyone turned to see Gabriel leading the adorable foal back.
The foal walked steadily, but compared to the other horses, it was still too cute.
Brent couldn't help but grin. "So, Gabriel, you like them small and cute?"
