Chapter 696 Sweet Extra - Couple Variety Show 181
Seeing the knowing looks from everyone, Marshall grinned, "Alright, folks, here's the deal. This episode has only one murderer, no accomplices. If three or more of the six guest pairs can correctly identify the murderer, the budget for the next three episodes will be split among everyone, and the murderer will face a punishment. But if fewer than three pairs or no one guesses right, the murderer gets the budget of all six guest pairs for this episode."
The room fell silent.
Everyone had thought it was just a warm-up game, a fun start to the episode, but they hadn't expected the rewards and punishments to be tied to the budget.
The show was great in every way, except for the constant emphasis on the lack of budget.
This episode's food, drinks, and supplies all depended on this budget.
Would they get to enjoy the murderer's budget for the next three episodes, or would all their budgets go to the murderer alone?
Kevin asked, "What kind of punishment are we talking about?"
"What do you guys think? I'd love to hear your ideas," Marshall said with a smile.
Hearing that the punishment could be flexible, everyone got excited again.
Brent's gaze drifted over to Clayton. He had been convinced from the start that Clayton was involved. Seeing Clayton shaking his head and acting carefree, Brent suddenly grinned mischievously, "How about making the murderer serve us as our assistant for the entire episode, fetching tea and water?"
The guests burst into laughter.
Clayton laughed too, but then he caught Brent's gaze and froze, gasping, "You think it's me?"
Brent leaned back, looking pleased, "I'm sure it's you!"
Clayton was furious.
Amy chimed in, "We don't know if the murderer is male or female. If it's a guy, serving as an assistant is fine, but if it's a female guest, what then? How about making the murderer post their most embarrassing childhood photos as their profile picture on Instagram for two weeks?"
Cindy nodded, "That's a good idea!"
"Yeah, I've seen fans dig up some pretty embarrassing photos online," Melissa said, looking around with a gossipy smile.
Brent continued to lean back, "I still think being an assistant is a good idea."
"Stop being so eager to speak up. The ones who are eager to mess with the murderer might be trying to confuse us. Maybe it's the thief crying 'stop thief'," Clayton said, nudging Brent's arm.
Brent quickly pushed Clayton's hand away, "You murderer, don't touch me!"
Clayton's mouth twitched, and he looked like he wanted to kick Brent.
Marshall laughed, his gaze sweeping over all the guests, "Alright, let's start the evidence and guessing phase. Each of you has two chances to make a verbal guess and verify with each other. Then we'll proceed to the final secret ballot. If the person with the most votes is the real murderer, all the guests win. If the chosen person is not the real murderer, the murderer wins."
The guests immediately entered a tense evidence phase.
Though it was still just a warm-up game and not a real case, the budget and their pride were at stake, and everyone's faces showed their seriousness.
