Chapter 465 Gabriel Knelt on One Knee in Front of Her
Why didn't she know Gabriel owed her anything?
"Starving?" Gabriel saw the confusion in her eyes but didn't say anything. His deep, clear voice was just beside her ear.
Jessica, holding a big bouquet of roses, nodded. As she did, her chin brushed against the rose petals, which felt cool and fresh, giving off an amazing scent.
"What do you want to eat?" Gabriel asked.
"Anything's fine," Jessica replied.
The hotel had a restaurant, and they had just had a bunch of seafood, which she wasn't really into. Honestly, she preferred the rare times when Gabriel cooked for her; his food was better than most restaurant dishes.
"Let's go," Gabriel said.
'Go? To eat? Just carrying the flowers like this?' Jessica thought.
She wanted to say she'd take the flowers back to the room, but Gabriel didn't give her the chance.
When they got to the first floor of the hotel, she saw Gabriel heading outside. Clearly, they weren't eating at the hotel tonight. There was a glass tunnel from the lobby to the private beach. As Jessica walked through the tunnel with the flowers, she noticed the lights, which were usually just on, were different today.
The regular lights above were now flashing in all sorts of colors, like fireworks at an amusement park, creating different patterns. Jessica looked up at the lights the whole time, not realizing the private beach, which should have been lit up, was now pitch black.
When she finally noticed, she had already walked out of the glass tunnel. Thinking the private beach might have lost power, she suddenly saw a small firework burst above the beach. She stopped, holding the roses, staring in shock at the fireworks that lingered in the sky for a few seconds.
For a moment, she seemed to get what Gabriel was planning, so she couldn't move, just staring at the beach. Another firework burst, replacing the one that was fading. The fireworks went from small to big, slow to fast, one after another, exploding beautifully in the sky. She couldn't take her eyes off them.
After a few minutes of nonstop fireworks, everything suddenly went dark, like it was over.
Jessica stood at the exit of the glass tunnel, turned to look at Gabriel beside her, and was about to ask if he was planning to propose now.
Just as she was about to speak, a dazzling light surrounded them. Fireworks from all directions shot up along with the fountains by the pool. In the neon-like light of the fireworks and musical fountains, Jessica saw Gabriel's face clearly. His expression was calm and gentle, giving no hint of how long he had been planning all this. She had been at the hotel for days without noticing anything.
Jessica turned her eyes to the fireworks shooting up around her, seeing that some of them lingered in the sky, forming familiar patterns. She was shocked when she recognized them.
Weren't those the pictures her fans on Instagram had drawn of her and Gabriel?
A bunch of artists loved drawing them in all sorts of styles, each one beautifully done. She had secretly saved some of the really good ones on her phone.
Gabriel, who barely used Instagram, had made an account just to support her. He usually wouldn't bother with such trivial stuff online, let alone look at those pictures.
To her surprisingly, he knew about the fan art of her and him.
He even had them designed into the fireworks, with each burst in the sky accompanied by lights from the fountains, like painting their stories in the sky.
Knowing Gabriel, he would have bought the rights to the images he used. How many had he seen, and how many had he bought?
Watching the pictures appear one by one in the sky, Jessica smiled so much her jaw hurt. Then she saw the images gradually turn into a countdown.
Three.
Two.
One.
As the last number exploded, the pitch-black beach suddenly lit up. Jessica looked over and saw countless star lights hanging around the pool and on the lawn beach, with rose petals covering the ground. Her gaze followed the petals to the end of the beach, where several barbecue chefs were preparing dinner by the grill.
Jessica, still overwhelmed by the scent of roses, hadn't noticed the aroma of the barbecue in the air. She was surprised to see the grand BBQ already set up on the beach.
She walked past the star lights, holding the flowers, and saw a long table filled with various small cakes and many music boxes.
She hadn't seen these music boxes before, but inside the transparent glass globes were silhouettes carved from different natural crystals. Out of curiosity, she picked one up and saw a silhouette that looked like herself dancing inside. When she turned on the music box, the little figure that resembled her began to spin with the music, illuminated by beautiful lights.
As she walked towards the beach, she picked up one music box after another.
Looking closely, she realized they were indeed herself. These dancing figurines imitated many classic poses from her dance performances and films.
Jessica listened to the different music from each music box, watching her various silhouettes spin and dance to the tunes.
She was amazed that Gabriel, who always seemed so reserved, had patiently prepared so much for her ahead of time.
Jessica stood still, holding the flowers and looking at the music boxes, saying, "Gabriel, when did you start prepa..."
As she spoke, she suddenly turned around to look at him, but as soon as she did, she was completely stunned.
The large bouquet of roses in her arms almost slipped, and she quickly tightened her grip, looking down to see Gabriel kneeling on one knee in front of her.
The star lights around them shone brightly, casting their shadows. Gabriel's entire being seemed to be bathed in light, his every move as grand and serene as ever. In that moment, their eyes were only for each other.
