Chapter 238: The Power of Mr. Harriman

Jessica was no longer a child, nor was she the teenage girl who had to endure everything in silence.
But seeing the father-daughter duo's seamless act, she was so angry that her hands trembled slightly.
Whether Trinity was his biological daughter or not, whether he knew it or not, was none of Jessica's business.
But Jessica was his biological daughter, and he knew that very well.
If she could, she would have picked up the fruit knife on the table and killed this "father and daughter" pair.
Jessica's hands trembled as she forcibly suppressed the immense anger within her, her gaze suddenly turning to Linda, who had been trying to minimize her presence.
Linda paused. In this household, only she knew what kind of person Jessica had become, and she had many of Linda's secrets in her hands.
"Eugene, Trinity, enough. Jessica just got back, it's normal for her to be upset after all these years. Let Evelyn take her to wash up and change clothes before coming back to eat. She is indeed quite dirty." Linda said, looking at Jessica with what seemed like a kind and friendly expression, "You're a bit taller than Trinity. She has two M-sized outfits that don't fit her well, but they were bought from abroad and can't be returned, so they've just been sitting there. You can change into them after you wash up."
Evelyn came over to take Jessica upstairs to wash up, but Jessica remained standing there, showing no intention of moving.
Even though she hadn't eaten or drunk anything all day, and the table was full of delicious food, she had no desire to eat. There was only a desolate emptiness, a cold calmness that only Linda could understand.
"Mrs. Jenner, please." Evelyn approached her from behind.
Jessica acted as if she hadn't heard, only looking at Eugene, "Give me back my phone."
Eugene was impatient, "Why are you looking at your phone during a family reunion? What's so urgent that you need to contact the outside world?"
"I still have work. I've been missing all day. My agent and the crew can't just be left hanging."
Eugene said indifferently, "I already had someone contact your crew this morning. Didn't the other female lead also take a leave recently? I took the liberty of getting you a few days off as well. Stay at home and don't go anywhere."
"Who gave you the right to take leave for me?!"
"Because I'm your father! Even if you call the police, do you think they will intervene in our family matters?"
Father.
Family matters.
These words wouldn't have come out of his mouth five years ago.
She was really curious about what Eugene was trying to do now.
Suddenly wanting to bring her back as his daughter? But it was clearly not out of familial affection. He just wanted to forcibly attach the Jenner family name to her.
There must be some unusual reason behind this abnormal situation.
Jessica didn't want to waste any more words and turned to walk towards the door. Eugene sternly called her back, but she continued straight to the door. As soon as she opened it, she saw the two bodyguards still there, and it was clear she wouldn't get her phone back.
This Jenner family was still the same as before. In this large villa, if they wanted to lock her up, make her disappear, or even let her die in this house, she had no way to escape.
The only difference now was that she was a known figure in the entertainment industry, a public figure. If she disappeared for too long, it would inevitably arouse suspicion, unlike when she was a child, when she could die at home at any time and no one would know or care.
At this moment, Trinity put down her utensils and said, "Sis, I'll go with you to my room to find some clothes. Dad, Mom, you two take your time eating."
With that, Trinity stood up, casually dusted off her exquisite dress, and walked towards Jessica. She didn't seem to mind the dust on Jessica at all and directly took her hand, "Come with me."As soon as Jessica's hand was touched, she immediately pulled it back, looking at Trinity with disdain.
Outside, she was a dazzling and arrogant movie queen, but at home, she reverted to being the well-mannered, obedient daughter who always aligned with her father's wishes.
Jessica had had enough.
How could someone be so disgusting?
Already in her twenties, how could she still be this revolting?
Trinity suddenly whispered in a voice only Jessica could hear, "You see, you can't escape. Instead of wasting your energy here, why not come to my room and talk?"
Jessica didn't consider Trinity's nonsense, but she remembered that when she was a child, there was a landline phone in Trinity's room, specifically for the Jenner family. Although it was mostly decorative and rarely used, it was indeed connected and functional.
She wondered if it was still there.
With the Jenner family like this, she had no way to leave. Even if the crew could grant her leave, Mackenzie couldn't wait for a few days, and there was also Danielle. Fortunately, Caroline was at home now; otherwise, there would be no one to look after Danielle.
She couldn't continue wasting time in the Jenner family, nor could she give Eugene any opportunity to use her or achieve whatever he intended.
Jessica, without showing any emotion, let Trinity pull her along. Her face showed displeasure, and her steps were clearly reluctant, but she was "reluctantly" dragged upstairs by Trinity.
Once inside the room she had never had the chance to enter as a child, Jessica couldn't be bothered to look at how big or exquisite it was. She didn't want to think about how, despite being a daughter of the Jenner family, she had to sleep in a damp attic with all the junk for so many years.
Her eyes casually scanned the room, looking for the landline phone.
"Stop looking. The phone line was removed long ago. Who uses landlines these days? The servants just put the line away, and now it's just a decoration," Trinity said, closing the bedroom door. Her voice changed from the sweet tone she used downstairs to her usual cold and disdainful manner.
"Besides, even if you managed to make a call, who would you call? Your agent and that useless studio team? They probably can't even get past the gates of Whispering Villa. Who else could get in?"
Trinity walked over to Jessica with her phone, glancing contemptuously at Jessica's disheveled clothes and face. "Mr. Harriman from the Harriman Group?"
Jessica's eyes paused for a moment, showing no obvious expression, and she calmly met Trinity's gaze.
"Don't kid yourself. Do you really think you can get close to someone as powerful as Mr. Harriman? Even if he did take you away from that banquet last time, so what? Even if he did help you out a few times, so what? A man of Gabriel's status, do you think you're the only woman around him? You're probably just one of his many flings. When he kicks you to the curb, you'll have nothing."
Trinity clicked her tongue twice as she spoke, looking at Jessica's face again. "Not to mention, you don't have anything particularly special. There's no way you could keep Gabriel's interest. At most, you're just a plaything. And as for the Harriman family, do you even know what kind of place that is? Stop dreaming. Wash your face and look in the mirror to see if you're even worthy."
