Chapter 442 Don't Keep Your Husband Alone
Seraphina eyed Michael's smug face and scoffed, "Quit the act. If Gabriel didn't want you to have any doubts, he wouldn't have bothered with the paternity test and left the address of the old Harriman house. It's all to ease your mind. I don't need this. Danielle and Gabriel looked so much alike as kids. It's obvious she's his daughter."
Michael snorted, "When did I ever doubt it? I'm just old and can't remember what Gabriel looked like as a kid. If I could, I would've acknowledged Danielle two years ago. I don't need you reminding me. Now you're here showing off?"
"Yeah, well, it's normal to forget things at your age. If you start calling random women your wife, I wouldn't be surprised," Seraphina shot back.
Michael rolled his eyes. "You're the one with memory problems. Insisting on that divorce twenty years ago, that was pure insanity!"
Seraphina snorted. "Best decision of my life!"
"Ha, I bet you've regretted it for years. You must be lonely in Peak City. I'm not lonely at all. I sing, watch my grandkids, play chess, and walk my birds. My life is way more fulfilling than yours. I bet you cry yourself to sleep abroad every night and now you're back pretending to see your great-granddaughter because you miss home," Michael said smugly.
Seraphina's face darkened. She stood up and walked out without looking back.
Fred, who had been listening on the side, couldn't take it anymore. He kept giving Michael looks, signaling him to shut up. How could he be so competitive with Seraphina when they were young and still be like this after twenty years apart? They were both old now, but he still had to argue to feel comfortable.
Seeing Seraphina leave, Michael turned to look at Fred. After catching Fred's gaze, Michael didn't say anything but secretly glanced in the direction Seraphina had gone. Seeing that she had only gone to her room and not left the Harriman family, he turned back and smiled at Danielle.
Danielle was peeking at the paternity test document in his hand. "Great-Grandpa, what's this?"
"This is something that proves you and your dad are biologically related," Michael said with a smile, putting the document aside. He gently patted Danielle's head and said, "Danielle, from now on, no one can say you don't have a dad! You have a mom, a dad, grandparents, and a Great-Grandpa and great-grandmother. You're the apple of all our eyes."
Danielle, who had never known she had so many relatives, tilted her head and asked, "What about Mommy? Is Mommy everyone's apple of their eyes, too?"
"Well..." Michael suddenly coughed, "Your mom is the apple of your dad's eyes, and that's enough. But she's my granddaughter-in-law, the daughter-in-law of the Harriman family. Great-Grandpa shouldn't have been so stubborn back then. I should have handled things more gently. That was my fault. I will make it up to you and bring you back to the Harriman family with dignity."
Danielle didn't fully get it but could tell Great-Grandpa was nice and seemed to really like Jessica. She nodded, "Okay, then Mommy and I are both little darlings!"
Jessica had no clue Danielle was claiming the "little darling" title for her. She slept in until after nine, still snuggled up in Gabriel's arms, half-awake.
It had snowed all night, but the snow melted quickly after dawn, and the weather cleared up early.
Gabriel had already woken up earlier. He had an urgent project proposal to review for the company. After a quick wash, he came back to bed to hold her. Seeing her awake, he kissed her forehead. "If you want to sleep, keep sleeping. If not, get up, wash up, and go for a walk. I'll be in the study for a video meeting."
"Okay," Jessica murmured, still lazily nestled in his arms. It wasn't until Gabriel kissed her and got out of bed that she stretched and continued to snuggle under the covers, not in a hurry to get up.
The feeling of being able to sleep in openly at the Harriman family home was much more comfortable than sleeping in at home. The overall feeling was different—one was a rare quiet while the other felt like a stolen moment of laziness, with a bit of thrill and satisfaction.
The weather outside was so good that Jessica turned over in bed, rolled to the edge to grab her phone, and then rolled back to the middle. She lay there and checked last night's Instagram. Kimberly's account had been deactivated overnight. Last night, it was cleared of all posts, and this morning, the account no longer existed.
She didn't know if Kimberly had deactivated it herself or if the account had been banned.
Anyway, no one cared about Kimberly, who had no evidence or standing. Gabriel had just registered his Instagram last night, and by this morning, he had over two million followers. This was just overnight. Even the most popular A-list male stars didn't gain followers so quickly, especially since Gabriel wasn't in the entertainment industry and only had one profile picture.
Marketing accounts took advantage of the buzz to search for information about Gabriel overnight, but apart from brief online introductions, they found nothing.
Fans flocked to Jessica's Instagram, begging her not to keep her husband to herself and to post a photo or a couple's picture so everyone could see the CEO couple's looks.
Jessica wasn't someone who liked to share her life on social media, but it seemed like all of Gabriel's actions were for her. Anyone could see how protective he was of her, from the Harriman Group's official Instagram statement to his personal account.
After reading the comments for a while, she quietly approached the study door and peeked inside. Gabriel was in a video meeting, looking as dignified and aloof as he did at the office. The company executives on the other side of the video were all on high alert. Even though Gabriel wasn't physically at the office, no one dared to slack off.
Jessica stood by the study door and secretly took a picture of Gabriel working. Gabriel's instincts were so sharp that he looked in her direction. She quickly raised her phone and asked eagerly, "Can I post this on Instagram?"
