Chapter 503 The Almost Indistinguishable Photo

Jessica thought, 'How is it inconvenient?'

She glanced at the time and said, "Where is Mr. Chloe?"

The gentleman replied, "He's at the Spring Villa up ahead. Mr. Chloe has a social engagement there tonight. Knowing that you are also here, he sent us to invite you."

Even if Keegan wasn't looking for her, she needed to talk to him about that incident with Aaron from over twenty years ago.

Jessica used her phone to navigate to his location. It was indeed not far from here, and she glanced at the Mercedes SUV and then at her own car. "You lead the way, or we can navigate ourselves. I'll take my own car."

The two gentlemen nodded. "Alright, we'll lead the way."

When they arrived at the Spring Villa, the two men in the car ahead got out and respectfully invited her to get out as well. They stopped at the entrance and politely said, "Ms. Jenner, Mr. Chloe is inside. Please."

Jessica indeed saw Keegan inside. He was sitting on a round sofa talking to someone. He noticed her gaze, raised an eyebrow, and nodded at her.

Confirming that the two men in the car had conveyed the message correctly, Jessica turned back and told Mackenzie and Lynn to drive back first. She didn't know how long her discussion here would take and didn't want to waste their time.

"Alright, call us if you need anything. We'll find a place nearby to eat." Mackenzie knew that Jessica wouldn't go hungry here, so she and Lynn would have to handle dinner on their own.

Jessica entered the room, and Keegan had already stood up. The two men who had been sitting with him on the round sofa turned to look at her, nodded politely, and then moved to another area.

It seemed like a small business summit had just taken place here, but the atmosphere was relaxed. Most people were sitting in the first-floor lounge, eating snacks and conversing in various languages.

After listening for a moment, Jessica followed Keegan to another round sofa in a quieter area.

Keegan glanced outside and saw his car parked at the entrance. The two men who had conveyed message to Jessica were standing by the car, smoking and chatting, their faces not visible.

A waiter from the Spring Villa approached and asked Jessica if she wanted coffee, room temperature lemon water, or else. Jessica chose lemon water. As she picked up the glass and looked at Keegan, who was still gazing outside. "What do you want?"

Keegan withdrew his gaze at her words and noticed the ring on her ring finger.

Last time, Jessica had just returned from recording a show. The dance costume she wore on set wasn't suitable for other jewelry, so she had temporarily put the diamond ring in her bag. She put it on after showering at home that night. She wore it every day, except for that one night.

A hint of self-mockery flashed in Keegan's eyes. The Jessica before him was the woman who had once longed to marry him as soon as she turned twenty.

He called his assistant over, took a file folder, and placed it on the marble coffee table between them. "I know you want to use these two aspects to bring him down completely, but there's still some evidence missing. I sent people back to Xyleria to thoroughly investigate the relevant individuals from that year. Some had already moved away from Xyleria but are still in the country. According to their testimonies and the evidence, it matches the incident my father mentioned. My father is now retired abroad, and he's old and has been away from the limelight for years. He has nothing to hide and gave me some information."

Keegan looked at her. "Aaron is indeed a very cautious person, but no matter how cautious he is, he couldn't have anticipated that the incident from over twenty years ago would leave an indelible mark on his and my father's lives, especially his self-preserving actions that abandoned others. My father almost got caught because of this, while Aaron had already returned to Washington. This has been a knot in my father's heart, and now, it can be used by you."

Jessica opened the file folder and flipped through the documents. A copy of her mother's old ID card yellowed and faded.

She gently touched the almost indistinguishable photo with her fingers.

While Jessica just looked at it silently, Keegan softly said, "Jessica, I know you wouldn't ask me for help, but my father was involved in this incident, making him the most powerful witness against Aaron. That's why you had to suppress your aversion to meet me. I don't expect you to have any lingering feelings for me, but I hoped that in the future, whether in the entertainment industry or in Xyleria, we can still be friends. If needed, I..."

"I don't need anything." Jessica continued the conversation they had left unfinished in front of the Jenner family home, looking up at him and putting the file folder into her bag without any sign of gratitude. "This is what your father and Aaron owe me. Of course, if you weren't honest, it would take me more effort to find out these things. For that, I am indeed grateful. As for anything else, Keegan, there's nothing more to say between us."

Keegan's hand gently clenched, and he didn't let go either. He looked at her, wanting to call her name, but he couldn't bring himself to say it upon seeing her ring.

"Even if your father is doing this as a form of compensation, I can understand it as his remorse for the wrongs he did in his youth. But that doesn't mean the events didn't happen. If he doesn't want me to drag him into this, he should stay away from Xyleria and never appear in front of me." Jessica said calmly, "Even if he is your father."

Keegan chuckled softly. "You really don't give me any face."

His voice was low and hoarse. He realized that after all this time, Jessica had never changed. She was still the same as the girl who had stood in the rain all night outside Grain Villa after seeing him go in with Trinity, and never looked back.

A beautiful and smooth melody played in the background. Standing a bit further away, one couldn't hear what was being discussed between them. The waiter had already moved to other tables to pour water.

There was no one nearby to interrupt, so their conversation wasn't affected. They didn't need to find a private room to talk, and Jessica didn't want to be alone with Keegan to avoid gossip or being photographed by someone with ulterior motives. As an artist, she was aware of this.

"Is it necessary? I can't give you what you want, and you happen to have waht I want. You want to make amends and restore balance in our relationship. I can't interfere in your thoughts, but at least I don't need to pretend to be nice. Some things can't be obtained just by smiling at you; it's all up to your willingness."

She looked at him coldly, not wanting to engage in any more meaningless conversation. "Let's get to the point. What did your father say? Can he fully reconstruct the events of that year? Since he has always had this knot in his heart, he must have kept evidence to bring Aaron down."
