Chapter 513 Schedule the Wedding

The topic quickly escalated to the point where Jessica couldn't get a word in.

Michael and Seraphina had already moved from discussing which elementary school Danielle would attend this year, to what formula Danielle's future sibling would drink, which preschool they would go to, who knew a particularly famous preschool teacher at a certain school in New York, who could teach kids to write and draw, and even directly to the Harriman family's business landscape twenty years from now, including inheritance issues decades down the line. The conversation between the two elders became unstoppable, as if Jessica already had at least two children in her belly.

At first, Jessica could barely keep up with the conversation, but as it went deeper, she gradually couldn't say a word.

This was probably the legendary "Pretend you don't understand even if you do" series.

Gabriel, who was helping her pick out fish bones, handed her a piece of fish in a timely manner, "They haven't been together for over twenty years. Recently, being in the same house, they inevitably use various topics to show off their connections and skills. Just eat well and pretend you didn't hear anything."

Seeing the turtleneck sweater on Jessica's neck, he remembered that she had worn a neck brace for a few days before being discharged from the hospital in Washington. He reminded her, "You just got out of the hospital a few days ago. Since you're back in New York, take a good rest. No wire work for a year."

Jessica lowered her voice, "My agent has already turned down quite a few scripts for me recently. Not only have I not taken any roles that require wire work, but I haven't even accepted any regular scene dramas. However, I signed a six-month variety show contract with Marshall. When Marshall starts recording, I will definitely have to go. He helped me a lot this time, so I have to help him promote the show out of both gratitude and duty."

Gabriel served her some soup, "This is your job, I won't restrict you, but since you're resting now, take good care of your body."

When Jessica fell into the river in Washington, although the car plunged into the water without hitting the rocks, the river water was bone-chillingly cold. She was rescued quickly, but her body, which was already afraid of the cold, had endured a few minutes of freezing water, and inevitably needed some time to recover.

"Have you really eaten so little? Are you full?"

"Really full."

"If you get hungry later, just tell me. There's always soup simmering in the kitchen. I'll bring you some in the afternoon."

"Okay."

During the week at the Harriman family, Sarah seemed to want to fatten her up like a pig. Besides the three regular meals a day, she always brought her freshly made food in the morning, afternoon, and night, trying to make up for the weight she lost during her time in Washington.

When the doctor came for a follow-up, Jessica had just eaten a lot. She was walking back and forth in the room, trying to digest. Because of an old injury on her neck, this new injury, though not particularly severe, was taken very seriously.

According to Gabriel, if it could be completely healed, it should be, to avoid future discomfort.

The doctor massaged her neck for half an hour and applied blood circulation and bruise removal ointment as per the daily routine. She still had to wear a neck treatment device before bed to "enjoy" its massage.

The pain from the massage lasted until 10,30 PM. After removing the device, Jessica was so tired and sore that she lay motionless on the bed. She had already taken a bath and just wanted to sleep.

Sarah was about to bring Jessica a midnight snack when she saw Gabriel, who had been busy at the company for the past few days, entering the room with a calm expression.

Jessica was still lying on the bed, her face buried in the pillow, exhausted.

In the past few days, she felt like a newlywed wife. Gabriel was busy with work, and she was at home being fed like a pig by Michael, Seraphina, and the house staff, while also undergoing various treatments.

When someone came in, she thought it was Sarah and weakly pulled down the collar of her nightgown, exposing her shoulder.

"Sarah, my shoulder hurts. Can you apply some ointment for me? I'll skip the midnight snack."

She was wearing a nightgown, having just taken a bath not long ago. Her exposed calf was casually draped over the blanket, and her neck was slightly red from the massage.

Soon, a cool ointment was applied to her neck, and long, strong fingers began to massage gently. Jessica suddenly tensed up, letting out a soft moan of both pain and comfort, "Lighter. It hurts but feels good. A bit lighter would be better."

The pressure on her neck immediately lightened, then moved to her shoulders, evenly spreading the ointment.

Jessica closed her eyes in comfort, humming softly, "Hasn't Gabriel been back for two days? He's been so busy with year-end work. I feel bad calling to rush him, but he's been staying at the company for two days. I wonder if he's rested well."

The fingers on her neck paused, and instead of pulling her clothes back up, a hand slipped under her nightgown, moving up her leg to her back. As Jessica shivered and was about to turn around, she was flipped over, and Gabriel leaned down, kissing the corner of her mouth, "Missed me?"

"You..."

Gabriel's kisses moved from her cheek back to her lips, nose, eyes, forehead, and then back to her lips, lingering softly as he pressed her down, "I slept at the office for two days. I was afraid you'd be too lonely at home, so I came back to keep you company. I have to go on a business trip tomorrow."

Thinking he had finished his work, Jessica immediately wrapped her arms around his neck, not letting go, her delicate nose wrinkling, "How much longer will you be busy? Did the days in Washington delay a lot of year-end work?"

Gabriel's deep voice was right by her lips, "At most a week."

Seeing Jessica, who rarely acted spoiled because she hadn't seen him for two days, Gabriel's eyes darkened, his gaze lingering from her golden hair draped over her shoulders to the slightly open neckline of her nightgown.

By the time Jessica realized it, it was too late. She glared at Gabriel's handsome face close to hers, mumbling a few words, trying to sit up with all her might, but ultimately melted into a puddle under him.

The heated embrace lasted until the middle of the night. Amidst the overwhelming emotions, Jessica seemed to hear Gabriel's husky voice, "What kind of wedding do you like?"

Was he planning to put the wedding on the agenda too?

However, Jessica only remembered that her clear thoughts had been completely scattered by him. Sheeven forgot what she had answered, only vaguely recalling calling him "husband" many times.
