Chapter 109 Something More Exciting
Jessica's gaze slowly moved away from the sign of the 'Harriman Hotel,' then suddenly heard a commotion behind her. She turned around to see a Ferrari parked in front of the hotel.
The Ferrari looked too familiar to Jessica. She squinted her eyes, about to take a closer look, when suddenly the car door opened. Nicholas got out of the car, casually tossed the electronic car key to the hotel staff standing respectfully on the side, and turned to walk towards her.
Jessica was taken aback.
She quickly raised her handbag to cover her face, then grabbed the wrist of a passerby next to her, pulling Deborah to stand by her side.
Deborah was just about to enter the hotel when she was suddenly pulled back. She turned to glare at Jessica.
Seeing it was Deborah, Jessica couldn't explain at that moment. She awkwardly mouthed an apology, then disregarded Deborah's attempt to shake off her hand, pulling Deborah's wrist and swiftly walking towards the hotel entrance.
Being forcefully dragged in by Jessica, Deborah, wearing high heels, almost twisted her ankle. After entering the hotel, she forcefully shook off Jessica's grip, giving Jessica a disdainful look and asking, "Are you crazy? What are you doing?"
Indeed, Jessica was rude at first. She responded to Deborah's scolding with a seemingly innocent smile. "Maybe I've been under too much stunt rigging recently. My knee suddenly felt uncomfortable. I was a bit unsteady at the stairs by the door and subconsciously wanted support. I didn't mean to grab your hand, sorry!"
Before Deborah could retort, Jessica heard footsteps approaching outside and someone mentioning Nicholas. She quickly hurried inside.
Deborah watched Jessica speechlessly. Already not fond of Jessica, she took out a wet tissue from her bag to wipe the wrist that Jessica had grabbed, looking displeased. She then looked for a trash can to dispose of the tissue and was surprised to see Nicholas, who rarely wore a suit, entering the hotel.
Although Deborah remembered being ignored by him last time, she didn't want to lose face this time. Quickly adjusting her appearance, she calmly stood in place, discreetly glancing at Nicholas from the Harriman family.
As people came and went into the hotel, Nicholas, preoccupied, didn't notice Deborah trying to greet him. Instead, he quietly asked the project manager, who was coordinating with the crew behind him, "Has Jessica arrived?"
"She should have. The crew mentioned that almost all the cast and crew members are present at the set tonight."
"Good, well done." Nicholas was eager to show loyalty to his future sister-in-law and headed straight inside.
Just as Nicholas was about to walk into the corridor, Deborah stepped forward to speak, but he quickly passed by, not giving her a chance to say anything.
Deborah, her lips parting momentarily without a word, abruptly averted her gaze towards Nicholas, whose taste seemed odd.
Deborah, who was one of the top beauties in the industry, couldn't catch Nicholas's attention.
Irritated by Jessica earlier, Deborah, with a sour expression, walked into the corridor towards the dining hall, feeling increasingly annoyed by Jessica's actions.
Jessica had already entered the dining hall and found a corner to sit. When Murdock saw her sitting in a secluded spot, he came over and asked her to join the table upfront. Jessica wanted to decline, but Murdock had helped her in the past and offered guidance, so she reluctantly moved to the table closer to the front.
"Nicholas! Nice to see you again!"
Director Joseph and Murdock stood up to greet Nicholas at the entrance of the dining hall. Jessica lowered her posture, almost resting her head on the table, realizing the connection between the Harriman Entertainment and the Harriman Group. She never expected to meet Nicholas here!
She had been unaware of who Nicholas was before, but now she not only knew but also that he was Gabriel's brother!
She had been disrespectful to Nicholas at her home before, and now she wasn't mentally prepared to face him suddenly. Who knew if he held a grudge?
Fortunately, as Nicholas appeared, various directors, producers, and actors surrounded him, greeting and toasting him. Jessica took advantage of the distraction to quietly make her way to the restroom.
As everyone had just arrived, the restroom was not crowded. With nothing else to do, Jessica simply touched up her lipstick to pass the time.
After a while, unsure if Nicholas had left, she assumed someone of his stature wouldn't linger at such gatherings for long.
After a few more minutes of lingering, she left the restroom.
"Did you come here to touch up your makeup because you knew you were going to see me?"
Suddenly, a voice cut in front of her as Nicholas casually walked out from the corridor outside the restroom, hands in his pockets, taking long strides.
Jessica was startled and looked up at him.
Nicholas smiled, leaned in slightly, and, with a half-smile, looked at her. " Are you trying to seduce me? So pity! I don't touch Gabriel's woman. Even if you change your lipstick to a thousand different colors, I still can't touch you."
Jessica was speechless.
She rolled her eyes sharply. "Who's trying to seduce you?"
And besides.
When did she become Gabriel's woman?
Just as Jessica was about to retort, Nicholas suddenly straightened up and raised an eyebrow. "Surprised to find yourself in my hands. The Harriman Entertainment is under my name. This show is my investment. Asking your boss to climb to the seventh floor to get you a blanket, does that feel exciting?"
Jessica was not one to back down. She sneered, "There's something even more exciting. Would you like to hear it?"
Nicholas's expression was anticipatory. Jessica approached him, smiling, and just as he suspected that his future sister-in-law might have developed genuine feelings for him, she suddenly lifted her foot and stomped hard on his shiny shoe!
Jessica didn't usually wear high heels, but she happened to be wearing them that day. With a forceful twist of her heel, as Nicholas winced in pain and shock, she dramatically said, "Nicholas, I'm sorry for stepping on your shoe. But I can't afford such expensive shoes. Please spare me, a poor, helpless, background-less actress like me!"
With that, Jessica clasped her hands together in a pleading gesture.
Nicholas pointed at her. "You..."
But Jessica suddenly smiled mischievously and gestured for him to pay attention to someone behind him.
