Chapter 339 He Still Hasn't Given up Yet

Lynn pulled up the news about the movie "Shadow Kill" on her phone and showed it to Jessica. "So, a bunch of actresses sent in their profiles, but they still couldn't pick a lead. Out of nowhere, they sent the script to our studio today. Stephen called and said they want you for the lead role."

Jessica glanced at the screen and raised an eyebrow. "Is Sebastian the producer?"

"Yep, it's Sebastian. He's praised you a lot in the industry, especially your action scenes. But he's got high standards. How did you get in touch with him?"

"Two years ago, during 'Charles II.' We met at the training ground. We only exchanged a few words, but he must've kept an eye on me because he followed that show closely," Jessica said, scrolling through the movie details on the phone. "This movie looks good. If the schedule works, let's do it. We should give Sebastian some credit."

"It's more than just giving credit. This movie is solid. You've been taking on a lot of film projects lately. If you want to break into the film industry, you need a good mentor," Lynn said, smiling. "Did you not sleep well last night? Your makeup's thicker than usual."

Zoey handed Jessica a thermos. "Yesterday's interview dragged on until late. Jessica only got two hours of sleep before getting up early for makeup. The e-magazine staff were a mess, asking weird questions about Jessica's husband and her kid, Danielle. They even asked if Danielle feels special because her mom's a star. We should blacklist that e-magazine."

Lynn frowned. "Didn't I tell them to avoid personal questions about Jessica and her kid? What's their problem?"

Zoey snorted. "When I went to get clothes for Jessica, I overheard two interns talking about Trinity. Turns out, the host of last night's interview has ties with Trinity. Even though Trinity can't get a supporting role now, she's still trying to stir up trouble for Jessica."

Lynn's face darkened. "I'll call their boss tomorrow."

Lynn had strong connections in the industry, with close ties to many magazines and businesses. Her words meant she had a way to deal with the e-magazine host.

Jessica sipped from the thermos without saying a word, and Zoey didn't push it further.

The Trinity issue hadn't come up in over a year.

A year and a half ago, Danielle's info got leaked on foreign websites. While it's easy to access foreign sites through software in Country M, there are many regulations, like certain sites being restricted.

The site that leaked photos of Jessica and Danielle was one of those restricted black sites.

Cynthia had dug into Trinity's activities at a hotel for Jessica and found out Trinity was involved. They confiscated her software and account for accessing foreign websites and fined her three hundred bucks. The laws in Country M weren't fully fleshed out yet.

Ever since Jessica exposed Trinity for the stand-in scandal years ago, Trinity's career tanked. The Jenner family wasn't backing her anymore. Even if she wanted to lean on them, Eugene was stuck in Country W under Donald's watch and couldn't come back to Xyleria. Plus, it turned out they weren't even related by blood.

Trinity's current whereabouts were unknown, and she hadn't landed any acting roles in ages. She'd pretty much vanished from the industry.

Sebastian's movie "Shadow Kill" was set to start filming in a month, and the lead actors were already chosen.

Jessica met with Sebastian, discussed the script, met the male lead, and had a quick script reading before heading back to the studio.

"Hey, Jessica, this isn't your first time working with Kevin, right?" Zoey grinned as she followed Jessica out of the car and into Star Tower.

Jessica shot her a look. "Studio members aren't allowed to be starstruck. How many times do I have to remind you?"

"I'm not starstruck, but Kevin is really handsome, and he's blown up in the past two years," Zoey said, tugging at Jessica's sleeve with a guilty smile. "And I managed to get his autograph. Every time he sees you at events, he's super nice to you. I'm just trying to help him make a good impression on you."

"Stop it! We're just industry friends. I'm a woman with a kid. Stop gossiping and stirring things up." Jessica warned, glaring at her before heading straight into Mackenzie's office.

"What’s Zoey gossiping about now?" Mackenzie, looking like she hadn't slept well, was sitting on the office sofa drinking coffee. She looked up as the two walked in.

"Nothing." Jessica walked over.

Zoey, behind Jessica, mouthed to Mackenzie: Kevin.

Mackenzie saw it and snorted. "He still hasn't given up? During the promo for 'Sweet Ferris Wheel' last year, fans noticed that even though Donna was his official partner in the show, he always stood next to you at events and barely responded to Donna's cues. Fans even created a super topic and an official fan Instagram for you two, and they're still shipping you two."

Jessica didn't want to get into it and gave Mackenzie a look.

Mackenzie immediately shut up, took a couple of sips of coffee, and said, "Well, Jessica isn't interested in him. Zoey, stop gossiping. You know Jessica's situation."

Zoey muttered softly, "It's because I know Jessica's situation that I want her to have someone by her side. Others might not know, but Kevin clearly knows that Jessica has never really been married."

Mackenzie clicked her tongue. "There's a saying: don't fall in love with someone too perfect, or you'll have trouble finding a boyfriend after you break up.No matter how good your Kevin is, even if he pursues Jessica for ten more years, he still won't be able to catch her eye."
