Chapter 186 Lying on Gabriel's Legs
Chapter 186 Lying on Gabriel's Legs
The few young girls suddenly became anxious and said, "No need for you to pretend to be kind! We can walk on our own!"
Jessica seemed to ignore them, only looking at the camera still facing her. "Also, if Pamela could see this video, I hope you continue to uphold the principle of not lying. Please clearly explain the scene of my conversation with Donna and under what circumstances I said a sentence. Such an unclear conversation must have a cause."
After speaking, she glanced at the few girls who seemed to want to curse but couldn't find a reason to do so.
These girls were gathered together because they loved someone, but they were using a misguided way to support the person they loved. She looked at their still immature and arrogant faces. "It's not wrong to be a fan, but you should follow the right person. A good idol can be a guiding light in your life, not turn you into fierce and abusive scolders."
All the girls fell silent, and the girl holding the camera slowly put down what she was holding.
Mackenzie had already called the police to take the girls to the police station to contact their families.
As the police arrived, the girl holding the camera suddenly asked, "Jessica, why aren't you afraid of us?"
Jessica stood there calmly, with a steady gaze and a straight posture.
"I have a clear conscience, without guilt, and therefore, without fear."
The girls looked at each other, silent.
The security guard and the police rushed over and escorted the few young girls into the police car. To prevent them from being scared, Jessica specifically instructed Mackenzie to keep an eye onthem and make sure to contact their parents. She also told her not to leave them alone at the police station to avoid making them afraid.
The few young girls sitting in the police car looked at each other as they watched Jessica, who was giving instructions outside the car.
Someone asked in a low voice, "Did we record everything Jessica just said? Are we still going to post it on Facebook?"
The girl holding the camera seemed dim in her eyes as if a light she had always liked had gone out, but another light seemed to shine in.
She didn't speak at first but then looked at Jessica outside the car and said firmly, "Post it."
"But her words, none of them benefit Donna."
"I declare that I'm no longer a fan of Donna. The fan site will be permanently closed, and I'm leaving the support group. Whether the video benefits her or not is not my concern."
"Do you believe Jessica's words?"
"It's not about belief, but we indeed have no evidence."
"But everyone is saying the same thing."
With that said, the girls looked at each other again, something becoming clearer in their hearts, and the car fell into an unusual silence.
The police car took the girls and Mackenzie away while Jessica returned to the hospital.
In a sudden turn, her gaze directly met Gabriel's, pausing for a moment before she walked past him without changing her expression.
Jessica asked, "Why did you come down?"
Gabriel's voice was like a bell ringing in the autumn breeze, calm yet sharp. "If I didn't get down, how could I appreciate your public speech in the wind with a wound on your wrist?"
Jessica's gaze fixed on Gabriel's face. "So, considering my injury, can you rent me a room at your Blue Bay Apartments?"
He glanced at her indifferently, then turned and walked back to the hospital entrance, saying, "Go upstairs, and we'll disinfect and bandage your wrist again."
Jessica didn't drive over, and Mackenzie took the girls to the police station.
The downtown hospital was a bit far from Blue Bay Apartments, and Jessica couldn't easily take a taxi due to her recent situation, so she had to avoid being recognized.
Landon drove Gabriel's Bentley over and parked it downstairs at the hospital.
On the way back, Jessica sat in Gabriel's car while Landon drove quietly and obediently. Jessica lowered her head to reply to Zoey on WhatsApp.
Jessica: [I'm fine. I got followed halfway, had a minor , and it wassorted out.]
Jessica: [Mackenzie's car was bugged with a tracker; from now on, all our cars need to be checked daily to avoid such situations.]
Jessica: [Just some superficial wounds, nothing to worry about.]
After replying on WhatsApp, Jessica moved her wrist, which was not very flexible due to the bandage. Luckily, her fingers weren't injured, or she wouldn't be able to reply on WhatsApp or use her phone.
She stiffly put her phone aside, then awkwardly raised her hand to stretch her neck and arms, which had become sore from looking down and texting on WhatsApp.
"Should we head straight back to Blue Bay Apartments?" Jessica asked.
Gabriel replied in a flat tone.
"Danielle was suddenly sent back home, probably feeling anxious there. Luckily, Caroline is back and can help me take care of her. Otherwise, I'd be at a loss today," Jessica said, shifting her gaze away from Gabriel's face and looking out the window.
After a moment of thought, she suddenly turned her eyes to Gabriel, who was sitting quietly with closed eyes in the back seat.
She thought, 'Is it because Danielle has been in contact with him for too long, or is there a deviation in my gaze? Why do I fel that some of Danielle's expressions and gestures always resemble Gabriel's.
'Could it be that while he staye at my house, Danielle has been sticking to him, unconsciously learning some of his facial expressions?
'But Gabriel hardly shows any expressions normally.
'So, where exactly is the resemblance?'
Jessica suddenly picked up her phone again, and because her wrist couldn't bend, she stiffly held it up to take pictures of a few good locations they had just passed by. She intended to look up the monthly rent of these neighborhoods online and also check the security situation of other apartment complexes nearby.
Little did she know that although there was usually a lot of traffic on Central Avenue, the cars were mostly slow-moving. At this moment, a taxi suddenly emerged from the intersection ahead, as if the brakes had failed, and it ran the red light.
Landon quickly slammed on the brakes.
Jessica, twisting her body to take photos, was caught off guard by the sudden braking. Due to inertia, she almost fell backward. Gabriel's long arm reached out and pulled her towards him.
She ended up lying on Gabriel's legs, her body stiff, facing him directly.
From this unusual angle, when she looked up at him, Gabriel's face was still remarkably handsome.
Gabriel exuded an indescribable sense of elegance. He was undeniably good-looking but not overly refined like the male stars in the entertainment industry. The usual faint coldness in his eyes seemed to have faded away, leaving only a calm gaze fixed on her.
