Chapter 665 Sweet Extra - Couple Variety Show 150
As the saying goes, nobody's perfect. Gabriel hadn't had much experience with these things. Seeing Brent Clayton excitedly pulling him along, he chuckled deeply and sat down next to them, saying, "Alright, show me the basics first."
Brent laughed out loud, "You don't know how to play? This isn't like basketball where you pretend to be humble and then wipe the floor with us, is it?"
Gabriel raised an eyebrow slightly at Brent's grudge and glanced at him.
Brent immediately stopped being cocky and took the deck of cards from Maurice. "Alright, let me explain the details of President to you..."
Jessica sat nearby, resting her chin on one hand, watching Gabriel seriously listen to Brent's explanation of President. She couldn't help but chuckle quietly.
Hearing Jessica laugh, Brent turned around with a look of mock horror. "Ms. Jenner, what's so funny? Don't tell me Mr. Harriman is actually a card shark and is just messing with me?"
Jessica burst out laughing. "Oh no, honey, you've given Brent a complex."
Gabriel chuckled softly. "I haven't played this before."
Satisfied with the answer, Brent continued teaching him. "So, it's like this: one card beats another, and whoever gets rid of all their cards first wins."
Gabriel said he understood the rules and process and was ready to give it a try.
The guys sat together, ready to start playing.
Maurice mentioned that he had his phone on for light because his eyesight wasn't great. He provided the cards but didn't play.
Kevin didn't say he wanted to join. Seeing Amy bored and fiddling with her small ukulele from her bag, he sat next to her and gently strummed the strings. The sound was nice. He looked at her, asking with his eyes if he could play. Amy, looking shy and confused, nodded and turned away. Kevin then quietly started playing the ukulele.
Beautiful music filled the cave as Gabriel, Brent, and Clayton began their game of President.
Though the cave was dark, laughter echoed continuously.
After a few rounds, Brent threw his remaining cards down in frustration. "This is too much, Mr. Harriman! You said you didn't know how to play, but you beat both Clayton and me twice in a row. How is that not knowing how to play?"
Gabriel remained calm. "I understood the rules and tried a couple of rounds. Maybe I just got lucky. You can't blame me for that."
Brent had a few choice words in his mind but didn't dare say them.
He turned to Jessica, who nodded and confirmed, "He hasn't played cards before. I promise."
"But how does Mr. Harriman seem to know what cards I have left? He guessed I had a 2 and two 7s, and he kept splitting them up to frustrate me, then played them all at once to finish me off!"
Gabriel stayed calm, like a student who was too excellent and envied but deservedly so. "Except for the jokers, each card has four copies. The cards played are already on the table, so it's not hard to figure out the remaining ones, right?"
