Kevin had already gone over to help Amy with the rubber bucket, showing her again how to place it properly and how to find the trees that yielded more rubber. Seeing Amy's frustrated expression, he couldn't help but patiently guide her step by step.
Watching this scene, Marshall adjusted his glasses and said casually, "A Mr. Martinez and a clumsy yet earnest student—if we nail this romance, it could be a hit."
Marshall's instincts were spot-on. The two pairs generating the most buzz online for their show were Jessica and Gabriel, and Kevin and Amy.
The dynamic between the power couple and the woman chasing the man was just too entertaining.
Cindy noticed Amy's forehead and couldn't help but laugh. "Amy, what happened to your head?"
"What?" Amy looked confused as she raised her hand to touch her head.
Kevin glanced at Amy, then wordlessly reached out to gently brush off the dried rubber stuck to her forehead.
Amy realized it must have happened when she angrily bumped her head against a tree earlier. After Kevin brushed off the white rubber flakes, a bit of redness was visible on her forehead. She hadn't hit it hard, but her skin was delicate and had reddened slightly. She turned to look at Kevin, who seemed to shake his head in exasperation before turning to another tree. Feeling a bit lost, Amy stood there silently, blinking at him. Reflecting on how she always seemed to mess things up, she quietly went back to collecting rubber, trying not to disturb him.
Kevin, noticing that the usually chatty Amy was unusually quiet today, turned to look at her after cutting into the tree bark with his knife for a while.
Amy was on tiptoe, peering into the bucket of milky liquid. Just then, the rope holding the bucket snapped. Quick on her feet, she caught the bucket with both hands, but some of the liquid splashed onto her nose and face. She looked up in confusion and called out to the director, "Director, the rope broke! This quality is terrible!"
Everyone turned to see Amy's face and couldn't help but laugh. Jessica quickly grabbed some wet wipes to help her clean up, while Kevin took the half-full bucket of rubber from Amy's arms and set it aside. Seeing her face covered in white and red patches, he chuckled helplessly. "Go get another rope from the director. I'll handle this."
"Okay," Amy replied obediently, not daring to look Kevin in the eye. She turned and jogged over to the director.
Kevin watched her go, puzzled by her uncharacteristic quietness and obedience. When had she ever been this well-behaved and quiet before?
Kevin glanced thoughtfully at Jessica, who smiled back at him. Before she could say anything, a tall figure stepped in, leading Jessica away from Kevin's view and over to a tree that still needed a rubber bucket.
Jessica looked up at Gabriel, puzzled.
Gabriel's expression was calm and natural, as if nothing had happened. He handed her a small empty bucket and said in a neutral tone, "What's so funny? Get to work."
Jessica was speechless.
