Chapter 391 Not Planning to Give Up the Couch
Gabriel was always noble and aloof, never one to waste words.
He rarely experienced extreme emotions, and even his words were always filled with a sense of responsibility and grace. He had never said anything hurtful to her. He was always gentle and accommodating.
This was the first time he said something to hurt Jessica.
Jessica felt a moment of panic.
She was indeed suddenly flustered, perhaps because the pain in her neck was too intense, or maybe Gabriel's gaze was so cold and piercing. She suddenly raised her hand and forcefully pulled away his hand that was gripping the back of her neck, pushing him forward and quickly stepping back.
Gabriel's face turned pale from the pain caused by her forceful push. Although he didn't cry out, the sudden loss of color on his face made her stop in her tracks.
"Are you alright?" she asked.
Seeing his pale face and indifferent expression, she quickly walked back, reaching out to check his injury. But Gabriel's extremely cold gaze made her stop her hand mid-air, hovering above his shoulder.
However, she did notice that Gabriel's shoulder wound was starting to seep blood, though not much, just a few spots.
She had indeed pushed too hard in her panic.
'Why did I lose control of my emotions so easily? Why am I so clumsy? How did I become like this?' she wondered.
Jessica quickly ran to find the first aid kit. The family doctor had brought some emergency wound care and anti-inflammatory medicine. It was a small kit, but as she rummaged through it, her hands were shaking, making it hard to find what she needed. After a while, she managed to steady her hands, but all she found were oral medications and a thermometer, not what she needed most.
The more she searched, the more anxious she became, dumping all the medicine onto the table and frantically searching through them.
Where did it go?
Where could such big tubes have gone from the kit?
Thinking about his shoulder wound and how she had pushed him so hard, she suddenly raised her hand and slapped herself.
A few minutes later, Jessica finally found the medicine. She ran out to apply it to Gabriel's wound. Although the wound hadn't fully healed, it tore little. The wound had bled a bit, but by the time she applied the medicine, it had stopped. Only a small amount had seeped through his shirt, looking quite alarming.
After stopping the bleeding and applying the anti-inflammatory medicine, she re-applied the medical gauze to his wound and found another shirt for him to wear.
Gabriel cooperated the whole time, clearly noticing her guilt and shame. He didn't say anything to make her worse, but his cold eyes remained on her face, making her uncomfortable.
After changing his clothes, Jessica helped him button his shirt but didn't button it all the way up to avoid a repeat of the earlier situation.
She checked the time as she stepped back. "It's late. I have to leave for the set at five. You go rest in the bedroom. I'll sleep on the couch tonight."
Gabriel didn't move from the couch. Seeing her tired and sleepy eyes, he slightly raised his head and pointed to the bedroom with his chin. "You go sleep."
Jessica stayed still. "I'm not sleeping in your bedroom. The couch here is comfortable. I'll sleep on the couch."
Gabriel clearly had no intention of giving up the couch. It was too late to argue about where they should sleep, which was of no meaning.
Jessica looked at him for a while, then turned and went into the bedroom. But after sitting by the bed for a while, she still couldn't lie down peacefully.
Within five minutes, she found a thin blanket from the closet and went back to the living room.
"You have an injury. You go sleep in the bedroom. Sleeping inside and sparing a injured outside makes me awake all the time. Not as good as we make a exchange, which works well for both of us." She pointed to the time. "Only a bit more than three hours left that I can sleep, I really wanna a quick sleep or I'll be so hard at set tomorrow."
Gabriel saw her standing there with the blanket, her face full of determination. After a moment, he finally got up.
As if afraid he would change his mind, Jessica quickly sat down on the wide couch and lay down, covering herself with the blanket.
She didn't realize that the right side of her face was slightly swollen from the slap she gave herself.
Gabriel saw the red mark on her face but said nothing. Seeing Jessica cover herself with the blanket and close her eyes to sleep, he turned and went back to the bedroom.
Jessica was truly exhausted today. After a whole day of filming, live streaming, and watching movies, she finally went to bed . Almost as soon as Gabriel returned to the bedroom, leaving the entire living room to her, she fell asleep, despite thinking she might have trouble sleeping.
In her sleep, she vaguely felt a cool sensation on the right side of her face, and the air was filled with a refreshing mint scent. Jessica comfortably turned over, hugging the blanket that had bunched up, mistaking it for Danielle. She unconsciously nuzzled her chin into the blanket and brushed her lips against it, as if kissing her little baby.
The bunched-up blanket remained in her arms, and a moment later, another blanket was placed over her.
At five in the morning, the city was still asleep.
When Jessica got up to wash, she noticed the lingering mint scent on her face and saw that her face was now clear and free of any marks.
After quickly washing up, she made a simple breakfast and left it on the dining table. She also started some porridge in the rice cooker so that Gabriel could eat when he woke up.
Then, she hurried downstairs. Zoey, having received her message, was already waiting in the car outside Blue Bay Apartments. It was so early that Zoey was yawning in the car when she saw Jessica get in.
Jessica held a piece of toast she had just made . She said, "Have Sarah come to Blue Bay Apartments more often. I can't always spare time to come here from the set."
Zoey was surprised. "So you're not coming here anymore?"
Jessica, nibbling on the toast with her hair falling over her eyes, said, "Yeah, not anymore."
