Chapter 101 Rare Warmth

Was it her?
She was personally cooking.
Was her intention to thank him for sparing Carter?
Thinking of this, Gabriel inexplicably felt a little lost, but then he shook off this thought and comforted himself “Gabriel, you have to learn to be content. No matter what, at this moment, what you want is enough.”
He lightened his steps and walked towards Jessica.
Jessica was turning around.
Suddenly, Gabriel appeared in front of her, so close that she was immediately startled.
Just as she was about to call out, Gabriel had already reached out and held her, steadying her in his arms.
"Did I scare you?" Gabriel asked.
"Yes!"
Jessica nodded, quietly leaving his embrace.
"Why didn't I hear any sound when you walked?"
Gabriel originally wanted to say that she was too focused, so she didn't notice him coming in.
But seeing her pouting, with big, clear eyes wide open, he immediately softened and replied, "Yes, it's all my fault."
As he said this, Jessica felt embarrassed and quickly said, "Go wash your hands. I've finished cooking."
"Okay."
A table of food soon appeared
The main dishes were steak and pasta, accompanied by some other dishes. Jessica looked at the brightly colored steak on the table under the light, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
"Do you want some red wine?" Jessica asked proactively.
"Okay."
Gabriel nodded.
He sat in the chair, one hand propped up, the cuff slightly rolled up, revealing his strong and powerful forearm, with a faint smile on his lips, looking at Jessica with gentle eyes.
Jessica quickly brought the red wine, prepared the wine glasses, and personally poured it for Gabriel.
With everything ready, she said, "Let's start eating!"
Gabriel looked at the wine in his glass, then at Jessica’s cup without any wine.
"Aren't you going to have some?"
Thinking of the baby in her belly, Jessica immediately shook her head. "I won't drink. It’s easy to get drunk. I'll just watch you."
All of the anticipation was wonderful.
However, when Jessica lowered her head to take the first bite of steak, her expression immediately changed.
This steak was too tough!
Why didn't it have the tender and delicious taste she had imagined? The taste completely missed the mark compared to tender and delicious meat.
The sauce was also somewhat difficult to describe.
Not being able to cook was indeed embarrassing.
Raising her head again, she saw Gabriel had just cut the steak and was about to take the first bite. Jessica immediately walked over and stopped him, "Don't eat yet."
"Why not?"
Gabriel looked up, puzzled.
Jessica bit her lip and said truthfully, "I'm sorry. I wanted to thank you by cooking a meal for you. But it turned out to be a failure. This steak is too tough. I can't even chew it."
Gabriel thought to himself, ‘It shouldn't be that bad.’
"Let me taste it!" he insisted.
"You better not." Jessica persuaded.
At this point, Gabriel had already forked a piece into his mouth. As soon as he took a bite, his expression also froze.
This steak was even tougher than he had imagined.
Seeing his expression, Jessica understood everything and immediately said, "How about I take you out to eat?"
"No need."
With that, Gabriel set down his knife and fork, took off his suit, and then walked towards Jessica, asking, "Is there any fresher steak?"
"Yes, I bought quite a lot." Jessica nodded.
Gabriel took her hand in the next moment and led her to the kitchen.
"What's up?" Jessica wondered.
"Help me take out the steak to thaw and soak the pasta for me."
This time, Jessica reacted, even if she was slow.
She looked at Gabriel somewhat incredulously and asked, "Are you going to do it yourself?"
"Yes."
"Do you know how?" There was a strong question in Jessica's eyes.
Gabriel felt very uncomfortable being belittled by Jessica. He rolled up his sleeves, looked confident, and said, "Wait and see."
Next, Gabriel took charge in the kitchen, with Jessica assisting him.
Despite the redo, the preparation of the meal was swift.
Half an hour later, when Gabriel's steak and pasta were served, Jessica instantly felt that her cooking skills were really terrible.
"Want to taste?" He turned his gaze to Jessica and spoke softly
Jessica cut a small piece and put it in her mouth. As the tenderness of the beef and the deliciousness of the sauce spread on her tongue and blended perfectly, she nodded in satisfaction and said, "Delicious."
"Just delicious?" Gabriel felt a bit disappointed.
Jessica quickly added with a smile, "It's very delicious, almost comparable to a five-star hotel. I wonder if Mr. Lu is satisfied with this praise."
"That's more like it."
Gabriel lowered his head, holding a knife in one hand and a fork in the other, elegantly and powerfully cutting the steak on the plate.
Compared to his elegance, Jessica felt she was not very ladylike.
While Jessica cut and ate one piece at a time, Gabriel had already cut all the steak at once.
A few minutes later, someone abruptly removed the plate from her.
Jessica was puzzled, and the next moment, Gabriel placed the steak he had cut in front of her with his charming voice, saying, "You eat this plate. I've already cut it."
"No need."
Jessica instinctively refused.
However, Gabriel had already picked up her plate and started cutting.
"Let's switch. I've already eaten from that plate." Jessica said this, feeling somewhat embarrassed and shy.
Unexpectedly, as if he hadn't heard, Gabriel continued until he finished cutting the steak and put a piece in his mouth. Then he looked at Jessica and said casually, "I know, I don't mind."
"But..."
Jessica wanted to say she did!
But in the end, as she watched him enjoy the meal, she swallowed the rest of her words.
After dinner, Gabriel washed the dishes in the kitchen while Jessica sat on the sofa watching TV.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
Upon closer inspection, it wasn't hers. It was Gabriel's.
More importantly, the caller ID displayed Diana's name.
In the past, Jessica would have definitely ignored it. But today, for some reason, she suddenly answered the call.
When Diana saw that the call had been answered, she was ecstatic and exclaimed, "Gabriel, you finally..."
"It's not him. It's me, Jessica."
