Chapter 361 Chelsea Agreed
"What?" Chelsea was totally floored, barely able to believe what she was hearing.
She jumped up and tried to rush inside, but since she'd been lying on the ground for so long, her legs were numb. The sudden movement caused her to stumble and hit the ground hard.
Eliseo, feeling bad for her, came over to help.
Despite the sharp pain throbbing in her knees, Chelsea didn't care and bolted upstairs. As she ran, she yelled, "Grandpa, Grandpa, Grandpa, hang on, I'm coming!"
Soon, 911 showed up.
Rolf was rushed to the hospital.
The next day, Gabriel came downstairs and saw Chelsea looking like a mess and sitting in the dining room, clearly distressed. He was shocked.
"What happened?" he asked softly as he walked over.
Chelsea suddenly stood up and hugged him, burying her face in his chest.
Gabriel's hand had just touched her shoulder, ready to push her away, but Chelsea's tearful voice stopped him, "Gabriel, can I hold you for a moment? Just like when we were kids, you were the big brother, and I was the little sister."
"I'm really sad. Besides you, I don't know who else I can lean on."
"Five minutes, just five minutes, okay?"
In the end, Gabriel couldn't push her away.
True to her word, Chelsea stood up as soon as the five minutes were up.
Then she looked up at Gabriel. "Yesterday, my grandpa fainted and was taken to the hospital. I thought it was just his heart acting up, and as long as he got treated in time, he'd be fine."
"But the hospital gave me terrible news. They said my grandpa has liver cancer, and it's in the late stage. He only has one or two months left."
After saying this, Chelsea couldn't hold back anymore and burst into tears, squatting down and hugging herself tightly as her whole body shook uncontrollably. "Gabriel, why is God so cruel to me?"
"When I was just fifteen, my parents died in a car accident. I didn't even get to see them one last time. Grandpa is now my last family member in this world. Why does God want to take him away too? I really don't want to believe it. I even think this is all just a dream."
"When I wake up, I'll still be the pampered young lady of the Haugen family, and he'll still be my doting grandpa. But why?"
By the end of her crying, Chelsea's voice was almost gone.
Gabriel squatted down beside her, gently placing his hands on her shoulders to help her up. "Chelsea, Mr. Haugen didn't tell you because he didn't want to break your heart. He just wanted to spend his last days happily with you."
Chelsea suddenly looked up at him. "What do you mean? You knew about my grandpa's illness?"
Gabriel nodded. "I'm sorry, I made a promise, so I didn't tell you."
"It was my grandpa who didn't want you to tell me, right?"
"Yes."
Chelsea took a deep breath. "Alright, I have one last question. Is marrying Henry really my grandpa's last wish?"
Gabriel sighed softly, "Chelsea, I don't want to lie to you. It was indeed my suggestion. I knew your grandpa would be most worried about you. He wanted to ensure your happiness, and a good marriage seemed like the best way."
"The Loomis family has a solid reputation and a good background. They're a good match for you. Henry is an only child, so you won't have to deal with sibling drama."
He continued, "I can't say he's the perfect choice, but compared to others, he's the best option right now."
"Okay." Chelsea nodded. "I understand, and I'll marry him."
Determined to fulfill her grandpa's last wish, she added, "But, I hope you can do me a favor, don't tell my grandpa that I know about his illness."
Gabriel nodded. "Okay."
With that promise, Chelsea got up and left. She still had to go to the hospital to take care of her grandpa. With only one or two months left, she was going to cherish every moment with him.
Watching her slender figure dragging her heavy steps away, Gabriel was suddenly overwhelmed with emotions. It seemed that in just one night, Chelsea had grown up.
In the hospital room, as soon as Rolf woke up, Chelsea rushed to hug him. "Grandpa, you're awake? That's great."
"Did it scare you?" Rolf asked slowly, his voice frail.
Chelsea immediately started crying, "Yes, you must never scare me like that again. The doctor said your heart is weak, so you need to stay calm. Grandpa, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so willful and made you worry."
"I'm sorry, Grandpa, I really know I was wrong."
Seeing the suddenly obedient Chelsea, Rolf was a bit taken aback. But in his heart, he felt particularly gratified.
After a few days, Rolf insisted on being discharged. Chelsea did her best to pretend she didn't know about his condition and reluctantly agreed to the discharge.
When they got home, Chelsea helped Rolf sit on the sofa. She then suddenly looked at him seriously and said, "Grandpa, since you're happy about being discharged today, I want to share some good news with you."
"Oh? What good news?"
"Grandpa, I've thought it over carefully. I've decided to accept your suggestion and marry Henry."
"What?" Hearing this, Rolf immediately got excited, but then he clutched his heart again.
Chelsea quickly ran over. "Grandpa, please don't get excited, calm down."
"This time, I've thought it through. Since I can't marry Gabriel, I must marry someone you approve of. Grandpa, you are the closest person to me in this world. You must be doing this for my good and would never deceive me."
"So, I really want to give it a try, "Chelsea said, waiting for Rolf's reaction.
Rolf was extremely happy, and even the smile on his face became brighter. "Alright, alright, then I'll talk to the Loomis family right away and tell them you agreed."
"Yes, Grandpa, it's your call."
"Since it's decided, my suggestion is that we should set a wedding date as soon as possible. The sooner, the better, so I can see my great-grandchild," Rolf said happily.
Although he said this, he actually had no hope of seeing a great-grandchild. But he definitely wanted to witness Chelsea's wedding before he died. His Chelsea, so beautiful, would absolutely look even more stunning in a wedding dress.
Chelsea had already turned around, secretly wiping her tears. She knew how important this was to her grandfather.
In just one night, the news of the Haugen family's daughter Chelsea and the Loomis family's only son Henry getting married spread all over the internet.
Jessica, of course, saw this news.
