Chapter 359 The Dress and You
Gabriel had never felt so helpless. All he could do was search and wait.
He thought if he buried himself in work, he wouldn't think about her as much. But every night, lying in the bed they once shared, all the memories came rushing back.
It felt like she was still everywhere in the room. Her towel was still in the bathroom, her clothes still hung neatly in the closet, and her scent still lingered on the bed.
Everything of hers was untouched. Only she was gone.
The next morning, as Gabriel came downstairs, the phone rang. A polite voice on the other end said, "Mr. Walton, your wedding dress has arrived. Should we deliver it now?"
A wedding dress. Time had flown by. What should have been the happiest moment of his life now felt hollow and distant.
"Yes, deliver it," Gabriel said flatly.
"Okay, Mr. Walton, let me confirm the address: ..."
"It's correct."
"Alright, it will be delivered within an hour."
Gabriel hung up, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. The dress was ready, but was he?
Half an hour later, a beautifully packaged box arrived at the Walton villa. Gabriel stared at it for a long time before getting up to fetch scissors. This time, he didn't let anyone help him. He unwrapped the meticulously wrapped box, layer by layer, all by himself.
When the wedding dress was finally revealed, Gabriel froze. He looked at it and could see Jessica smiling and walking towards him in the dress. He even opened his arms to embrace her.
"Jessica, you look so beautiful," he whispered, hugging the airtightly. But when his arms closed around nothing but emptiness, the vision shattered like a mirage, and his eyes reddened again.
He thought, 'Jessica, your wedding dress is ready. It's beautiful. When you wear it, you'll look even more beautiful! Although I don't know where you are, I will wait for you.'
With a heavy heart, Gabriel took out his phone and snapped a photo. He uploaded it to Facebook with the caption: [The wedding dress is beautiful. If you wear it, you'll look even more beautiful!]
He didn't send it directly to Jessica but posted it on Facebook. He knew she wouldn't reply even if he sent it to her. So, he chose this way to show her the wedding dress and let everyone know he was waiting for her.
Jessica saw the Facebook post at noon, just after finishing her shift. At first, she thought she was seeing things, but after refreshing the page several times, the post was still there.
Realizing it was real, she opened the picture of the wedding dress and zoomed in, examining every detail with care.
It was just a picture, but Jessica looked at it for an hour. She examined it thoroughly, afraid to miss any detail. Her eyes were filled with longing.
The wedding dress was amazing, and the craftsmanship was exquisite. Even the diamonds on it were super dazzling. And the style? Totally her vibe. She had to admit, the wedding dress was absolutely stunning!
As she stared at it, tears started falling onto her screen. For a moment, she thought her tears had actually fallen on the dress, so she quickly wiped it, afraid of ruining it. But when the phone screen was spotless, Jessica realized she was just looking at a picture. It wasn't the real dress. But she had gotten so lost in it.
Such a delicate, expensive wedding dress must be for Chelsea. Time flew. So, they were getting married. The Gabriel she loved was finally marrying someone else.
Even though she had mentally prepared herself and kept telling herself not to be sad, she couldn't help but feel heartbroken.
'Jessica, why are you being so sentimental? This was your choice! Besides, didn't you foresee this outcome when you left?'
She tilted her head back, refusing to cry. Since he was getting married, she should give her blessings, right? Yes, she should bless him.
'Gabriel, I'm sorry I can't attend your wedding. I won't be able to see how handsome you look in your suit, but I want you to be happy. Only if you're happy will my departure be worth it. From now on, the baby and I will secretly miss you in our hearts.'
She took a deep breath, feeling a small sense of relief that she managed not to cry. But then, a hand suddenly appeared in front of her, holding a folded tissue. "I don't know what you're going through, but if you want to cry, just cry. It will help you release a lot."
Jessica looked up and saw a face that was both unfamiliar and yet somewhat recognizable. She realized it was a colleague she had seen a few times around the hospital.
She was now working at a small-town hospital. It wasn't large, so there weren't many doctors. But she had been here for only a short time, so she didn't know many people yet.
"Thank you!" Jessica took the tissue and held it tightly in her hand. She had promised herself she wouldn't cry, so she definitely wouldn't.
"You're the new doctor, right? I'm David Olson, nice to meet you."
"I'm Jessica Morgan."
"Dr. Morgan, you don't seem to be from around here. I'm a local, so I'm very familiar with this place. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I'd be happy to help."
"Thank you, lunch break is over. I need to get back to work."
As Jessica reached the door of her department, she heard voices from inside.
"Guess what? Dr. Olson actually chatted with the new doctor."
"Really? That's big news. But Jade has been chasing Dr. Olson for ages. She'll be heartbroken if she finds out."
"Well, Dr. Olson doesn't like Jade! Besides, the new female doctor is indeed pretty. Those big eyes and smooth skin—if I were Dr. Olson, I'd like her too."
As they were engrossed in their conversation, Jessica pushed the door open and looked at everyone.
