Chapter 778 Grace Gets Drunk
Kenneth's reply was quick: [Absolutely.]
Kenneth's text message contained only this sentence.
Mark knew that Kenneth's information must be accurate; otherwise, he wouldn't use such a definitive phrase.
In the following days, the signal in the desert was extremely poor. Forget about going online; even making phone calls was impossible, and sending text messages was nearly out of the question.
On the first day, everyone was very unaccustomed to it. By the third day, the entire crew had adapted quite well.
Grace thought it was a good thing, as it meant no late-night phone usage, allowing for some proper rest.
During this period of filming, to keep up with the schedule, the daily working hours were quite long, and her sleep was severely lacking.
On the day the crew finished filming, everyone had a meal together.
Chatting and talking in the desert had a unique charm.
Since the filming was over, everyone was relaxed and in a good mood. People toasted each other, and before they knew it, they had drunk quite a bit.
By the fifth glass, Grace's cheeks were flushed, and she was a bit tipsy, feeling warm all over.
Although each glass of red wine was small, Grace had a low tolerance and couldn't drink much.
When the next glass was handed to her, she thought about how the filming had ended and everyone was happy, so she didn't want to spoil the mood.
So she braced herself, clinked glasses, and was about to drink.
Suddenly, a pair of hands reached over and gracefully took her glass.
"Grace is drunk; I'll drink for her." Mark, dressed in a simple black T-shirt and casual pants, looked exceptionally handsome.
Some of the crew members couldn't help but exclaim, "Mark is so handsome; he fits my aesthetic perfectly."
"Yeah, he is incredibly handsome in every move he makes. Not only is he handsome, but he's also so gentlemanly and elegant, like a prince."
"Look at how dominantly he helps Grace; I'm so jealous of her."
With everyone shouting, the atmosphere of the party reached a climax.
For a moment, everyone was cheering.
"Mark, there have been so many actresses before, and you've always been a loner, very aloof. We've never seen you so enthusiastic about any actress, let alone helping one with drinks!"
Someone teased, making the atmosphere even livelier.
"Yeah, Mark, you wouldn't happen to like Grace, would you?" Even Elton joined in the teasing.
Grace, having drunk some wine, already had a flushed face, which was now taken as evidence by others, "Grace is blushing; it seems you two..."
The atmosphere at the party became more ambiguous, and everyone curiously surrounded them, waiting for an answer.
Because of the alcohol, Grace's head hurt a bit, and she felt dizzy.
She took a step forward, about to explain, when Mark suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Then, he pulled her behind him, his tall figure shielding her, and his voice was firm and commanding.
"I do like Grace. Her beauty goes without saying; in my heart, she's the most beautiful woman in the entire entertainment industry. She's also my idol, serious and dedicated in her acting, responsible in her work, passionate about life, and always striving forward."
"I've watched many of her shows before I entered the entertainment industry; she was my goddess."
"So, what's wrong with me helping my goddess with a drink?"
"And I also ask everyone, Grace is my goddess, so please don't make things difficult for her, or you'll be going against me."
With that, Mark raised his glass to everyone, "Please take good care of her."
Being called a goddess by the hottest male star was an unbeatable status for Grace.
The room fell silent instantly, and the female staff members looked at Grace with starry eyes, filled with envy.
Even Susan, who had been worried about Grace a moment ago, now looked at Mark with a dreamy expression.
Susan wished she could meet her Prince Charming one day, someone who would protect her so dominantly.
'Wait, no, Quentin! Grace is already engaged to Quentin! No, Grace can't fall for someone else, or Quentin's methods would surely be ruthless.'
Thinking of this, Susan quickly stepped forward and took Grace's arm. "Grace, you're drunk; let me help you back."
Grace looked at her with a dazed expression, her low voice incredibly alluring.
"No, I can drink a little more." Grace smiled softly, making a gesture to show a small amount.
"Grace, let's go back to the room and drink; I'll join you." Susan could only coax her.
As they turned the corner, a voice came from behind, "I'll take Grace back."
Susan forced a smile, not daring to offend Mark. "Mr. Stoll, it's quite late; let me take Grace back."
Mark wasn't in a hurry, leaning casually with a smile. "Grace is quite drunk and can barely walk. The hotel is a bit of a distance away; are you sure you can help her back?"
While Susan hesitated, Mark had already picked Grace up.
"Mr. Stoll, both you and Grace have special statuses. If someone takes a photo..."
Before she could finish, Mark interrupted, "With me here, no one will take a photo."
Mark's long legs were indeed long, and he had great stamina, walking quickly even while carrying Grace.
Susan followed behind, eventually having to jog to keep up.
On the way, Grace was very drowsy and fell asleep with her eyes closed.
Grace completely forgot about Mark carrying her back to the hotel.
When they reached the hotel room, Mark carefully placed her on the bed.
Grace, in her daze, grabbed his shirt, causing Mark to stumble. Fortunately, he caught himself with his arms, or he would have fallen on top of her.
The scene was quite thrilling, and Susan was scared.
Susan quickly stepped forward and decisively said, "Mr. Stoll, thank you. Grace is very drunk; I'll take it from here."
Propping himself up, Mark's gaze fell on Grace's delicate face.
It was the first time Mark had looked at Grace so closely, and he had to admit, she was truly beautiful.
That was why, years ago, after seeing just one of Grace's dances, he fell in love at first sight.
His feelings for Grace were his business.
He never even thought about making her his; he just wanted her to be happy.
"Grace, do you know?" Suddenly, Mark looked at Grace with deep affection, unable to resist reaching out his hand.
