Chapter 403 Gilbert Walton Returns Home
Although she knew she wasn't his Jessica, Riley still nodded vigorously. "Okay, I'll definitely keep my hair long for you."
"Good." Gabriel nodded, then he was helped away by the person beside him.
And Oscar, likewise, placed a stack of money on the table and then looked at Riley. "This is this year's payment."
Then, another year passed.
And then the third year, the fourth year.
Until the fifth year.
This year, Gabriel knocked on the door as he always did, everything exactly the same as before.
In the dim light, he drank, looking at her face that was almost identical to Jessica's.
As he drank more and more, his gaze became increasingly tender and affectionate.
The difference was, this time, when he finished the last sip of his drink, he didn't pass out on the table.
Instead, he got up and staggered over to Riley's side.
"Jessica, are you back?"
"I didn't mistake, did I? It's really you. You've been lying to me all along, You never really left me, right?"
"Jessica, you've lost weight, and you don't smile anymore. Are you unhappy to see me? Smile for me, okay?"
Gabriel looked at Riley almost obsessively.
Perhaps it was the alcohol, but at this moment, he truly believed the person in front of him was Jessica.
This had never happened before.
Getting closer, Gabriel looked at Riley, suddenly tearing up, and reached out his trembling hands.
He wanted to take a good look at his Jessica.
He wanted to touch her face, see her eyes, and smell her scent.
His hands got closer and closer to Riley till only a few inches away.
Just as Gabriel's hands were about to touch her, he suddenly shivered, as if he had sobered up instantly.
No, she wasn't.
The Riley in front of him just looked like Jessica.
She wasn't his Jessica at all.
How could he embrace another woman?
"Gabriel, you bastard!"
Cursing himself harshly in his heart, Gabriel immediately withdrew his hands.
But Riley grabbed Gabriel's hands .
At the same time, she looked at Gabriel with tender, affectionate eyes. "Gabriel, I am Jessica. I am your Jessica!"
"I'm back!"
"Let me stay with you from now on. I won't leave again, okay?"
But Gabriel had already sobered up, how could he be deceived?
He pulled his hands back and got up to leave.
But at that moment, Riley suddenly chased after him.
"Gabriel," she called out passionately.
Just as Gabriel's hands grabbed the doorknob, about to leave, she quickly reached out and hugged Gabriel's waist tightly from behind.
"Let go," Gabriel's icy voice spoke almost without any emotion.
"No, Gabriel, let me hold you, okay? I like you, I really like you."
"If you want, I can be your Jessica, your wife. You can make me into whatever you want. I can live for you, become someone exactly like her. Will you accept me?"
"I don't ask for your love, just let me stay with you," Riley said, crying.
But Gabriel had no patience left.
Reaching out, he forcefully pried Riley's hands off without any tenderness.
"Gabriel," Riley cried, suddenly unzipping her jacket and taking it off abruptly.
Instantly, she was left in a very skimpy, very sexy white dress.
"Gabriel, I can really be your Jessica. I don't believe you have no interest in me when you look at my face."
"If you want to have sex, I'm willing."
But Gabriel didn't even turn around, not sparing her a glance. He couldn't even be bothered with her.
All his attention was on the doorknob.
For some reason, he tried several times but couldn't open the door.
At this moment, Riley's voice came from behind, "Gabriel, I had the lock broken. It won't open."
"As long as you and I..." Before Riley could finish her sentence, Gabriel shouted angrily, "Oscar, break the door down."
As soon as he finished speaking, there was a furious kicking at the door from outside.
Then the door was kicked open, Gabriel walked straight out.
The whole time, he didn't look at Riley once.
He only left a cold remark. "Oscar, take care of everything."
"Yes, Mr. Walton."
Soon, Oscar walked in, glanced at Riley indifferently, and said coldly, "Put your clothes back on. A girl shouldn't degrade herself."
Then, he placed a stack of money in the same spot as before. "This is your payment for today, doubled, it's the last time."
But Riley, like a madwoman, swept all the money off the table and broke down. "I don't want it. Do you think I drink with him for the money? I do it because I like him!"
"It doesn't matter. What matters is, Mr. Walton wants you to take this money and leave for good, never to appear in front of him again."
Riley shouted, "No, why? He comes to see me every year, though it's because of Jessica. I don't believe he has no feelings for me at all."
"You're right. Mr. Walton indeed has no feelings for you. He has only ever loved Mrs. Walton. He comes to you only because of your lookand his yearning for Mrs. Walton."
"Do you know why Mr. Walton only sees you once a year, and always on the same day?" Oscar asked.
"Why?" She hadn't noticed this detail.
Oscar's reminder made her realize it was indeed the same day every year.
"Because it is Mrs. Walton's death anniversary, the day Mr. Walton regrets the most and misses Mrs. Walton the most."
"Before coming this year, Mr. Walton said this would be the last time because he knows that no matter how much you look like Mrs. Walton, you are not her. He can't indulge in this illusion and poison himself."
"It's unfair to him and to Mrs. Walton. So, you must leave."
"Mr. Walton wants the unique Mrs. Walton, and you don't even count as a counterfeit. The payments over the years have been generous. Take the money and leave."
After hesitating for a long time, Riley bent down to pick up the money on the floor and then nodded. "Okay, I'll leave."
Gilbert Walton took a taxi to the airport by himself.
Although his mom didn't allow Vincent to take him back to the country, he was still a clever kid with many ideas.
At the airport, however, Gilbert realized he had underestimated its size.
The airport was enormous, and he had already searched several times without finding Vincent.
He needed to hurry, or he would miss the chance to return to the country.
Today, no matter what, he had to make Vincent take him back. Only then could he fulfill his promise to his brother and find their dad.
Suddenly, an excellent idea flashed through Gilbert's mind.
