Chapter 396 Thought Gabriel Was Dead

When she arrived at the hospital, Jessica ran straight to the operating room.

However, by the time she got there, the light outside the operating room had already turned off.

She instantly had a bad feeling, and at that moment, her mind went blank.

Suddenly, her vision went dark, and she felt dizzy, almost collapsing.

Fortunately, Vincent rushed over just in time and caught her. "Jessica, what's wrong? Jessica, wake up! Jessica!"

After calling out a few times, Jessica slowly opened her eyes, shook her head, and asked, "What happened to me just now?"

"You fainted and almost fell to the ground," Vincent replied.

When she saw the big words "Operating Room" in front of her, Jessica's consciousness snapped back, and she became alert.

Gently pushing Vincent away, she dragged her sorrowful body towards the operating room.

Just thinking about the cruel outcome made her heart ache unbearably.

"I'm sorry, Gabriel. It's all my fault. I came too late."

"I'm sorry!"

Jessica cried sorrowfully, gradually squatting down and hugging herself in despair.

From Vincent's perspective, he could see her whole body trembling violently, and she was utterly heartbroken.

He immediately walked over and placed his hand on Jessica's shoulder. "Don't cry, Jessica. It's not your fault. If anyone is to blame, it's me."

"I was being too selfish, I didn't tell you everything. It's all my fault, you did nothing wrong."

"If you resent me, blame me, hate me, you can hit me, curse me, do whatever you want."

But Vincent's words did nothing to lessen Jessica's pain and sorrow.

Instead, they made her even sadder.

She turned around, her tear-streaked face looking at Vincent in agony.

Unable to hold back any longer, she clenched her hand into a fist and started hitting Vincent like raindrops.

"Why? Why are you telling me this now?"

"Hit you? Hitting you won't bring Gabriel back."

"Vincent, do you know how sad I am right now? I missed seeing him one last time, he..."

Jessica sobbed, her whole body trembling violently.

She couldn't finish her sentence.

At that moment, Vincent seemed to realize something.

He grabbed Jessica's shoulders and asked seriously, "Jessica, did you misunderstand? What do you mean by 'one last time'?"

"It's not?" Jessica was still immersed in the sorrow of Gabriel's departure.

Now, Vincent understood everything.

He immediately explained, "Jessica, no, you misunderstood. Gabriel just came out of the operating room. He's not dead."

Hearing this, Jessica immediately looked up at Vincent with hope. "What did you say? Are you saying Gabriel isn't..."

"He's fine. The surgery was successful."

Vincent nodded immediately and affectionately patted Jessica's head. "Silly, what were you thinking? Gabriel is very lucky, the surgery went well."

"Really? Is he okay?"

"I can't guarantee that yet. The latest news is that the surgery was relatively successful, but the infection is severe. He's now in the ICU. If he can be transferred to a regular ward, it means he's out of danger."

Although Gabriel was still on the edge of danger, this was already good news for Jessica.

"Vincent, I want to see him. Can you take me there?" Jessica looked at Vincent, pleading.

Vincent nodded.

"But he's in the ICU now. The Walton family arranged the best room for him. Only doctors and nurses in sterile clothing can enter, no family members are allowed to visit."

"Okay, I understand. I won't go in. I'll be satisfied just seeing him through the glass," Jessica promised.

"Alright, I'll take you there."

"Thank you, Vincent."

With Vincent's guidance, Jessica quickly arrived outside the ICU.

Coincidentally, Jonah had just sent Danielle and Chelsea home.

After staying up for several hours, Danielle's body was extremely exhausted, and urgently needed rest.

Originally, she was unwilling to leave her son, even if she couldn't go in. She wanted to stay outside and watch, always guarding her son.

But Chelsea and Jonah kept persuading her, as well as the doctors and nurses.

They said Gabriel was being well taken care of by professional doctors and nurses in the ICU.

It would be better for Danielle to go home, rest well, and regain her strength so she could take care of her son when Gabriel was transferred to a regular ward.

These words indeed struck a chord with Danielle.

So, she agreed to go home and rest.

Therefore, when Jessica arrived, she perfectly avoided these three.

Through the thick glass, Jessica looked intently at Gabriel lying in the hospital bed.

He was covered with a blanket, only his face exposed.

Even from such a distance, Jessica recognized him at a glance.

"Gabriel, how are you? Did it hurt a lot when you got shot?"

"Are you in a lot of pain now?"

"Gabriel, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lied to you. I'm fine, and the babies are fine too. We're both doing well. You know, I gave birth to two very cute babies for you. They look a lot like you, very adorable."

"So, you have to hold on. When you're awake, you'll see me and the babies."

"I'm not leaving. Please wake up, okay?"

Jessica placed her hand gently on the glass as if she were caressing Gabriel's familiar face.

He had many tubes attached to him, and the room was filled with various machines.

He had been shot near his heart, and then there was an infection.

As a doctor, how could she not know the severity of the situation?

It was precisely because she knew that she was even more worried.

She had promised to only look for a while, but seeing him, Jessica couldn't keep it.

Having just had a C-section to deliver two babies, plus the car accident and massive bleeding, Jessica's body had only recovered enough to move around the room.

Such intense activity tonight was too much for her body to handle.

Moreover, her recent sorrow and grief had drained her even more.

So, Vincent was very worried about her health and feared something might happen to her.

"Jessica, I just asked the doctor. Gabriel's condition is very stable now, and all his vital signs are good. Your body is still very weak. Can we go back now?" Vincent earnestly sought Jessica's opinion.
