Chapter 658 His Sister

"This is your home. You can come back anytime once you're done with your business. I'm feeling a bit sticky after the workout. I'm going to take a shower first."

With that, Grace immediately pushed him aside and went into the bathroom.

Closing the door and hearing the water start running, she finally felt like she could catch her breath under the showerhead.

After her shower, she hesitated about going out, as she didn't want to see him.

But she couldn't stay in there forever.

So after some thought, she opened the door and went out.

To her surprise, he wasn't in the room.

Relieved, Grace immediately turned off the light and headed towards the bed.

But suddenly, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her down, pinning her beneath him.

His breath forcefully invaded her space. "Why did you take so long?"

"Why are you on the bed?" Grace was startled.

She had been focused on the room and hadn't looked at the bed at all.

So she turned off the light before heading to bed.

Who knew he was already lying there?

"It's nighttime, time to sleep. Where else would I be if not on the bed?" His voice was right next to her ear, almost inescapable.

"Well, you shouldn't scare me like that. You're going to give me a heart attack."

Quentin wrapped his arms around her. "It's my fault, I'll be more careful next time."

But thinking about what happened during the day, his heart couldn't calm down.

"Grace," he called out, his voice incredibly gentle.

"What's up?"

"Caroline invited me to her birthday party. Do you think I should go?" He bluntly asked, unable to contain himself any longer, eager to gauge her reaction."Whether you go or not is up to you. I can't make that decision for you."

"Do you want me to go?"

"Quentin, you're an adult and can make your own choices. If I say I don't want you to go, will you really not go?"

"Of course." He answered confidently.

Grace didn't believe him at all and just smiled indifferently. "How is that possible? Mr. Taft, please don't joke around. Caroline's your fiancée. If you don't attend such an important event, rumors will spread everywhere. Can you handle that? Besides, I'm just a mere secretary. I can't make decisions for you. Please don't tease me."

Quentin's eyes darkened. "Do you think I'm teasing you by asking?"

"Otherwise, am I supposed to foolishly believe what you say?" Grace retorted.

"Why not?" Quentin asked.

Grace's face turned red. "Fine, then I say I don't want you to go. I want you to spend that day with me. Can you do that?"

"I can." He spoke so decisively.

"Mr. Taft, please stop joking."

"Grace, I'm not lying to you. If I say it, I'll do it."

The room fell silent, and neither of them spoke.

Quentin still held her tightly as they fell asleep.

They tacitly agreed to avoid the topic from then on.

The next day at breakfast, Grace mentioned wanting to go out. "Quentin, can I discuss something with you?"

"What is it?"

"I know I can't escape, so don't worry, I won't run away. But I can't be cooped up like a bird in a cage all day. I need freedom and some fresh air. Can I go out?"

"Do you want to go out that badly?" he asked.

"If you had to stay in one place every day, looking at the same things, would you be willing?"

Quentin replied, "If the person I see every day is you, then I'm willing."

Grace felt helpless. She thought she wouldn't have a chance to go out.

But after he left, a guard quietly approached Grace. "Ms. Morgan, Mr. Taft has given instructions. You are free to come and go."

"Really?"

"Absolutely."

She quickly changed clothes and went outside.

Not for anything else, just for the freedom.

Taking a deep breath of fresh air, she was about to head back when she received a long-awaited phone call.

"Grace?"

"Linda? Is that you?"

The voice on the other end laughed. "It's me. Are you available? I'm back in the country, too. Let's meet up."

"Sure!"

They set a time.

Two days later, Grace arrived on time.

After not seeing each other for years, both had changed a lot.

Linda used to be a bit plump, but now she was slim.

So when they met, Grace was completely shocked.

"Linda, where have you been all these years? I'm sorry for the trouble I caused you back then."

Linda held Grace's hand warmly, "No need to apologize. I know it wasn't your fault. You were a victim too. And Grace, you've done enough. You took all the losses and consequences on yourself to protect us back then. You left so decisively that Susan and I didn't even get to see you off."

Recalling the past, Grace's emotions were always stirred.

Blinking, Grace suppressed her emotions. "Linda, let's not talk about the past. We need to look to the future now. By the way, I'm planning to make a comeback."

Hearing this, Linda was very excited. "So those rumors are true. I thought they were just hearsay."

Grace nodded. "Linda, they're all true. By the way, I wanted to ask if you'd be willing to be my manager again."

Linda almost teared up as she nodded. "Of course, Grace. To be honest, I wanted to meet up to ask if the rumors of your comeback were true and to offer to be your manager."

"That's great, Linda. I'm so happy to have you leading me."

"It's my honor, too."

They hit it off immediately, both in high spirits.

Grace felt a renewed sense of purpose as she dove into her comeback preparations and scriptwriting. The busyness of her days filled her with a deep fulfillment, rekindling a sense of belonging she hadn't felt in a long time.

As for Quentin, she hadn't seen him for a week and missed the chance to share her return to the entertainment industry with him.

In The Taft Manor.

In a luxurious and exquisite room in the backyard, Quentin was holding his sister Helen Taft's hand.

Helen was disheveled, her hair a mess, sitting on the bed like a madwoman. She looked terrible.

Doctors and servants had been dismissed one after another.

The only person who could get close to her was Quentin.

"Quentin, do you think I'm beautiful?" Helen asked blankly, her eyes almost devoid of light.

Quentin regarded her with a heavy heart. The more he felt pity for Helen, the more intense the pain within him became.

"Beautiful."

"Then why doesn't he want me? Why does he look for other women?"

"Quentin, I've loved you the most since we were kids. You have to help me find the woman who seduced my husband. I want to tear her to pieces."
