Chapter 675 Compromise 2

Quentin pondered for a long time.

In the end, Quentin gently kissed her forehead.

"Alright, as long as it's something you like, I'll fully support you."

"If you love acting, then go for it. No matter what happens, I'll protect you."

"Grace, I want to see you smile, I want you to be happy."

Having made his decision, Quentin finally fell asleep.

At breakfast, Grace ate very slowly.

She was hesitating about how to start the conversation.

She had mustered up the courage to speak last night, and now she had to build up her resolve again.

But unexpectedly, Quentin brought it up first.

"I saw you reading a script on the couch yesterday?"

"Yes, it's the one Jessica accompanied me to audition for last time. Director Mr. Caudill said filming would start in a few days."

She spoke, deliberately testing him.

"What role are you playing? The lead actress?" he asked.

Grace bit her lip with her fine white teeth, clenched her fists, and forced a smile, "No, the third female lead."

The incident back then had such a devastating impact on her; how could she possibly play the lead role?

Even getting the third female lead was incredibly difficult.

So, she cherished it very much.

"Alright, I understand."

He didn't seem to forbid her from going, so Grace automatically took his words as consent.

She was very happy, so she rarely smiled and expressed, "Thank you!"

Quentin left the house, and as soon as he got into the car, he made a few phone calls.

Grace was immersed in her joy, walking upstairs with a spring in her step, and quickly packed her luggage.

Then she called Linda.

"Linda, I'm telling you, he agreed, I can join the crew."

Even over the phone, Linda could feel her happiness and joy.

But how was she going to tell Grace that the third female lead role had been canceled and she couldn't act anymore?

Linda held her phone, feeling torn.

She knew how important this role was to Grace, which made it even harder to break the news.

If Grace found out, she would be devastated.

"Linda, I just calculated the time. It will take us two days to get there, and another day or two to familiarize ourselves with the surroundings."

"Plus, I haven't acted in so many years, I'm afraid I won't be able to get into character, so I want to go early to adapt and practice."

"I'm already packing my things, you should pack too, let's meet at 2 PM."

Grace had everything planned out meticulously.

It showed how serious and dedicated she was about this acting opportunity.

However, after she finished speaking, there was no response from Linda.

"Linda?"

"Linda?" she called again, "Linda, what's wrong?"

Knowing she couldn't hide it any longer, Linda had to speak up and cruelly deliver the news she had just received.

"Grace, I have some bad news. You need to be prepared. Mr. Caudill just called me and said the third female lead has already been cast."

These words hit Grace like a bomb, exploding wildly in her heart.

"Linda, you're lying to me, right?" Her voice trembled, completely in disbelief.

"Grace, it's true. They've already signed the contract."

"I know you're very sad, but the road to a comeback won't be smooth. We can't give up. If this opportunity is gone, there will be another one."

After hanging up the phone, Grace put down the clothes in her hands.

She sat on the couch, a bit dazed.

She was not only upset about losing this opportunity.

But also about Quentin's interference.

In a few minutes, she had thought everything through.

The third female lead had been confirmed for so long without any changes.

Why was it that as soon as she told him she was joining the crew, her role was taken away?

She didn't believe it was a coincidence.

Now that she thought about it, his words weren't consent, but opposition.

'Quentin, you're too cruel!' She couldn't help but think.

She had no appetite for dinner, so when Quentin came back in the evening, the table was still full of untouched dishes.

"Are you waiting for me?" Quentin handed his coat to the servant and sat down at the dining table.

"Yes."

As soon as she spoke, Grace suddenly looked at him, "Quentin, what will it take for you to let me go?"

"Why do you have to interfere with my acting?"

"Do you know how much I've sacrificed for this role and how long I've been waiting? I don't ask for your help, I don't ask for any of your resources, I just ask you not to sabotage me, so I can compete for roles fairly."

After venting, she felt a bit relieved.

But she was still deeply hurt.

"So, you've already decided it was me who took your role?" Quentin asked.

"Otherwise? Can you say it wasn't you?"

Grace looked at him with red eyes, still holding onto a faint glimmer of hope.

But his nod shattered everything.

"Yes, it was me."

Quentin looked at her, his tone firm and without hesitation.

Grace finally closed her eyes in despair.

She didn't want to look at him anymore.

Turning around, she quickly ran out.

But the people at the door blocked her tightly, not allowing her to leave.

In the end, she could only return to her bedroom and lock herself inside.

Downstairs, Quentin made a phone call with a grim expression, his voice cold as ice, "What's going on? Who interfered with that role?"

"Mr. Taft, it was Mr. Harper who made the call. We didn't expect it either. By the time we found out, Mr. Caudill had already signed the contract with the new actress!" The other side replied.

"Caleb?" Quentin asked.

"Yes, Mr. Taft. Should I go and talk to them now? Even if the contract is signed, we can pay the penalty and find a reason to reject it. The role can still be Ms. Morgan's, or I can arrange the lead role for Ms. Morgan."

Quentin coldly refused, "No need, that film isn't worthy of her. If it's gone, it's gone."

"Have you taken care of the other things I asked you to do?" He added.

The person quickly replied, "Yes, everything is done. Ms. Morgan's agent will be notified tomorrow."

"Alright."

After hanging up, Quentin rubbed his temples.

Willie, watching from the side, couldn't help but feel a bit sympathetic, "Mr. Taft, you didn't do it. Why don't you explain to Ms. Morgan and let her continue to misunderstand?"

"Forget it, it's better if she misunderstands. This way, she won't think I'm interfering with her future opportunities and will accept them without hesitation. If she knew it was my doing, she might reject everything." Quentin let out a deep sigh.

Willie sighed deeply and thought.

'Ah, Quentin has gone to great lengths for Grace. Love is truly an elusive thing, causing pain and sorrow.'

"As for Caleb, I don't want to see him in the entertainment industry anymore," Quentin's cold voice commanded.

Caleb dared to scheme against Grace.

Willie immediately understood, "Yes, Mr. Taft, I'll take care of it right away."

Quentin signaled, "Find Caleb, I want to meet him personally."
