Chapter 585 Investigation 2
Deanna, like a little bunny, hopped around Vincent.
After circling him a few times, she stopped and happily said, "Vincent, long time no see. You've become even more handsome and dashing."
"And you've become even more charming and eloquent."
"Same to you, but Vincent, you're more handsome."
Deanna linked her arm with Vincent's and looked at Isaac, "Dad, it's so boring that you always talk about work when you meet. I heard Vincent has handled many exciting cases in recent years. I admire him."
"Then let me borrow Vincent for a while!"
Isaac looked at Deanna indulgently, "Go ahead, you two chat."
Deanna happily pulled Vincent to the second floor.
Then Deanna gestured for everyone around to leave.
Once it was quiet and no one was around, she smiled and leaned in mysteriously, "Vincent, I heard from Madison that you have someone you like?"
"When are you going to introduce her to me? I'm curious."
Vincent glanced around the room and then looked at Deanna, affectionately ruffling her hair, "Deanna, you're in love!"
He didn't ask; he stated it.
Deanna was stunned.
She opened her mouth wide and looked at him in shock, "Oh my God, Vincent, you're amazing. I thought I hid it well. I've been back for a few days, and Dad hasn't noticed at all."
"Since you have a boyfriend, why haven't you told Mr. Price? He would be very happy to know."
Deanna stuck out her tongue, looking worried, "Not necessarily. My dad is old-fashioned and traditional, you know that."
"If he finds out, he definitely won't let me go out after nine at night."
She sighed and continued, "And it's just a one-sided crush for now. The other person doesn't have feelings for me yet!"
"It's been a few years, and you have secrets now."
"Of course, who wouldn't want to like someone at that age?"
Vincent and Deanna chatted for a while longer before Isaac sent someone to call them down for a meal.
Seeing the steamed golden crabs on the table, Deanna was overjoyed.
"Vincent, these crabs must be prepared for me, right?"
Vincent nodded.
Deanna happily hugged him, her face beaming with joy.
Beside them, Isaac coughed loudly, "Deanna, mind your manners, sit down."
Deanna pouted, "Got it."
Then she looked at Vincent, "Vincent, you see, my dad is so old-fashioned."
"What? Studied abroad for a few years and now you're looking down on me?"
Deanna pouted and changed the subject, "Vincent, I wish you were my brother."
Vincent laughed and asked, "Why?"
"That way, Dad wouldn't focus all his attention on me!"
Isaac said, "I think you don't want a brother; you want a brother to share your responsibilities."
Deanna stuck out her tongue playfully, "Dad, it's no fun if you say it out loud. Besides, Vincent isn't as petty as you."
Isaac was both indulgent and exasperated, "Listen to that, now I'm petty. Since Vincent is so great and he's not married yet, if you can't find someone to marry, you can marry him."
Deanna quickly shook her head, "Dad, don't arrange marriages randomly. Madison and I only see Vincent as a brother."
Besides, she had someone she liked.
They finished the meal in a relaxed and happy atmosphere.
After lunch, Vincent chatted with Deanna for a while longer.
"Vincent, good luck. I hope you marry the girl you love soon."
"I have plans to go shopping with friends today, so I won't keep you. Let's meet another day."
Vincent nodded, "Okay."
After Deanna left, he went to find Isaac.
"Deanna went out?" Isaac asked.
"Yes, she just left."
"I don't know who Deanna takes after. She's not like me or her mother, she's just too lively." Although he said this, it was clear Isaac was very fond of Deanna.
"That's good. She's optimistic and confident. When she encounters unhappy things, she can quickly forget them and always maintain passion and vitality, living a happy life."
Isaac nodded, "Hearing you say that, I feel a bit relieved."
Isaac turned and sat in a chair, "So, tell me, is there something you need from me today?"
Vincent smiled humbly, "Nothing gets past you; there's something."
"Let's hear it."
"Mr. Price, I'd like you to help me retrieve someone's information. His file seems to have been tampered with and is quite clean."
"Who is it that's worth you coming to me personally?"
"A friend's acquaintance," Vincent said briefly, as it involved some privacy, so he didn't go into detail.
"This is a small matter. I'll give the order in a bit. Give me that person's information."
Vincent took out a folder and politely placed it on Isaac's desk, "Mr. Price, everything is in here."
"I was wondering why you brought me so much vintage wine today; turns out you came prepared."
"Mr. Price, even without this, I would bring you vintage wine."
Vincent's words made Isaac feel particularly comfortable.
After finishing his cigarette, Isaac stubbed it out and reached for the information in the folder.
However, as soon as Isaac saw the name and photo on the document, he froze.
Even his hands on the table stiffened instantly.
So many years?
How could it be?
Vincent quickly noticed something was wrong and asked sharply, "Mr. Price?"
He called out, but Isaac seemed too absorbed to hear.
Vincent raised his voice, "Mr. Price?"
Isaac immediately put down his hands, his face regaining its color, "What is it?"
"I noticed you looked a bit off. Do you know this person, Mr. Price?"
After a moment of recollection, Isaac sighed deeply and said sadly, "I don't know him, but the name seems familiar."
"What do you remember?" Vincent asked immediately.
"Years ago, during a capture operation, a police car collided with a drug lord's car. There were explosives planted, and all the officers in that car perished."
"The officers were consumed by the flames, leaving no remains."
"It was a big deal at the time. I attended the memorial service, and I remember it well. One of the deceased officers had this name."
Vincent sensed something unusual, "If that's the case, why is Ulysses' file so simple, only recording that he died in a car explosion? According to regulations, officers who die in the line of duty are usually posthumously honored."
"And his police records are very brief, just a few words."
Isaac rubbed his temples, "Vincent since Ulysses is already dead, why are you so persistent?"
